Thorin stares at me with wide shocked eyes. I just stare back with sad eyes.
Thorin Oakenshield is my soulmate.
If only I'd known earlier. If I'd known maybe things could have happened differently.
Thorin steps closer and I gaze into his eyes. The sickness has cleared again. Maybe it won't come back this time.
His hand comes up and gingerly wipes a tear from my eye. I let myself rest my cheek against his palm.
My soulmate.
I have a soulmate. He's my soulmate.
"You're my soulmate."
"I am," I confirm. Thorin grins and kisses my forehead. The tender gestures makes my stomach flip flop. Slowly Thorin leans in and kisses me. It's not like the first time. It's better.
"There is no one I'd rather share my soul with," Thorin states. I grin so wide my mouth hurts when he says that. Staring into his eyes and kissing him makes me forget everything.
It's just us.
"Thorin Oakenshield I love you," I confess suddenly. I love him and it's the real kind of love.
"I l-"
"THORIN AN ELVEN ARMY HAS AMASSED AT THE GATES!" Dwalin shouts and comes dashing in. Thorin's eyes immediately cloud over and a scowl forms on his face. My heart sinks at the loss of him.
"I'll be there in a moment. Make sure everyone is prepared for battle," Thorin orders coldly. Dwalin nods and marches off.
"Are you wearing the mithril my lady?" Thorin asks as he starts to pull on his golden armor.
"Yes under my my combat dress," I reply. It's a little heavy but it fits. I got a new dress in one of the wardrobes in one of the many rooms that aren't blocked off. It's a dark red with a black corset. It's a little long because it was made for a dwarven lady but it works.
"Good, I need to keep my gem safe," Thorin murmurs as he places a gold and black crown on his head. "Wear this crown my future queen." Thorin puts a smaller gold and black tiara on my head to match his.
"Thank you Thorin."
"Now let's go address these greedy Lakemen and thieving elves," he growls and stomps out. I follow after him with an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I can't help but feeling I'm walking towards my own death.

I watch as the dwarves come up one by one to the wall. They all wear armor and have weapons adorned.
Emily comes with Fili too wearing armor. She wears a black chest plate with shoulder pads and has a new trident on her back.
Lacy stumbles up alone in armor that is definitely uncomfortable for her and a huge clunky sword.
Jacob, Sam, and Bilbo walk up next. Sam is in silver full body armor, Jacob is in his Greenwood elf armor, and Bilbo wears none. I suspect the mithril vest is one under his Shire clothes.
I'm wearing some black armor I found and using dwarven daggers and a dwarven bow. All of us except Jacob and Allie have to use dwarven weaponry.
Finally Thorin and Allie arrive last. Luckily they came before Bard, Thranduil, and Gandalf showed up.
"We fight to injure not kill," Emily says firmly to Jacob, Sam, Bilbo, Lacy, and I.
"Believe me I won't even injure most of these people," Lacy admits sullenly. "I don't want to do this."
"None of us do Lacy. Just stay with me okay?" Sam mutter and rubs Lacys shoulder. I am admittedly nervous so I reach down and grab Kili's hand.
"Whatever happens stay with me," I order softly.
"Always," he confirms. Thorin comes up to the edge of the wall with a scowl on his face. He holds a bow in hand and glares as Bard and Thranduil approach. Thranduil rides on a huge elk while Bard is on a horse. Natalie and Smaug walk in between them.
Before they can come closer an arrow lands before Thranduil. Thorin shot it.
"I will put the next one between your eyes," Thorin threatens. The dwarves actually cheer and laugh. Thranduil smirks up at us and raises his arm.
The whole elf army raises their bows and aims simultaneously at us. Elves has perfect synchronization and aim. We all immediately duck down. When I hear the familiar chinking of weapons going away I motion for the company to stand back up.
"We've come to tell you payment of your debt has been offered and accepted," Thranduil calls up. I suspected that would happen. Emily, Bilbo, and Allie did good.
"What payment? I gave you nothing. You have nothing," Thorin shouts. He is very angry. I fear for Allie who stands beside him.

"Thorin remain calm please," Allie begs and grabs his arm. He shrugs her off rather violently. I may not be able to see very far now but Bard holding the Arkenstone up is clear as day.
"We have this," Bard announces.
"They have the Arkenstone. Thieves! How came you by the heirloom of our house? That stone belongs to the king!" Kili rails furiously. So my little fucker has succumbed too? I shoot Allie a worried look and she gives me a petrified one back.
"The King may have it, with our good will," Bard says and pockets the Arkenstome again. He's playing a very dangerous game. "But first he must honor his word."
"They're taking us for fools. This is a ruse, and a filthy lie. The Arkenstone is in this Mountain, it is a trick!" Thorin yells and let's out a cackle.
"I-it's no trick. The stone is real. I gave it to them," Bilbo stammers causing all the dwarves to spin around and gawk at him.
Oh shit.
"You?" Thorin hisses. He is beyond mad now.
"He lies! I took it. Bilbo is only trying to protect me. I gave it to them Thorin!" Allie suddenly exclaims and jumps in between Thorin and Bilbo. "I took it as my share."
"You would steal from me?" Thorin growls and steps towards her menacingly.
I should defend her. I need to defend her because Graces isn't here. But I can't. I'm glued to my spot.

I gulp deeply and take a deep breath. I can't stutter. I can't be afraid, but I am.
"Steel from you? No, no. I would never steal from you Thorin. I thought I could have it as my share. Thorin I just did this to help you," I answer with a clear voice. "I'm willing to let it stand against my claim."
"Against your claim?" Thorin lets out a loud chuckle and flares down at me. I shake under his cold gaze. "Your claim? You have no claim over me, you miserable rat!" His words make my heart clench in pain.
"You miserable worthless girl!"
My eyes go wide as Thorins voice matches to Deren and his face twists into that smirk.
"I was going to give it to you. Many times I wanted to, but..."
"But what, thief?"
No this isn't Deren. It's Thorin. He wouldn't hurt me.
"You are changed, Thorin. The Dwarf I met in Bag End would never have gone back on his word, would never have doubted the loyalty of his kin," I declare and clench my hands tightly. I feel small near him, like I did back in Bag End.
"Do not speak to me of loyalty," Thorin spits out. "If you were loyal to me you would not have done this! You are no friend of mine. You are no soulmate of mine either. You have stolen my heart!"
"One cannot steal what has been fiercely given and paid for in kind Thorin," I chide and take a few steps back. He keeps approaching me menacingly.
"It's a pity too I was going to make you a queen!"
"I'd never wear your broken crown Thorin," I say with my last bit of bravery. "Not when you are like this."
"Do not speak to me of loyalty you whore!"
I blink back tears as his words sink in. Why'd I do this?
"Throw her from the rampart!" Thorin barks at the dwarves. I stare at the ground and let out a small whimper. I'm weak, I have no fight left.
No one moves to carry out his order. I wish they would. I can't live on this earth anymore.
"Did you not hear me?! I will do it myself," Thorin grumbles and grabs me by my neck. I put up no fight.
How many times can I break before I shatter?
"I curse you!" Thorin insults and drags me to the edge. His hands around my neck hurt. If I survive this it will definitely bruise.
"Thorin I am sorry," I choke out. I see Jacob, Sam, Emily, and Alex grab Thorin and try to stop him. They can't. The dragon sickness has made him stronger when he is angry.
Suddenly my feet are off the ground and I'm dangling over the wall.
Then I'm not dangling anymore.
I'm falling,
"No!"
"Cursed be you that forced you on this company!"
I don't even have time to feel shocked or betrayed.
At least I don't feel pain when I hit the ground and everything fades away.

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage. It tells the tale of what happened, how it happened, who was responsible and most importantly, what we might be able to do to prevent it from happening again.
