《Charm [NamjoonxReader]》Chapter 6

This is everyone?

"No," Yoongi grumbled.

"Come on, it'll only be for a few minutes," Taehyung whined.

Yoongi folded his arms while sighing.

"I'm not sitting on your lap, Taehyung."

"Come on, old man," Tae grumbled. "Jungkook's doing it."

"That's because Jungkook is the youngest," Yoongi reasoned.

I looked over at Jungkook, who was grumpily sitting on Jimin.

"It's the only way we'll fit," Tae stated. Yoongi's eyes scanned the car.

"What about her?" He asked while pointing at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Isn't she the youngest?" Yoongi questioned.

"Probably," Tae responded while looking back at me.

"So she should be on lap duty."

Lap duty?! Why can't these people take more than one car? Is Hobi the only one with a licence?!

"But," Tae muttered. "She's-"

"So what?" Yoongi grumbled. "She's our friend, isn't she?"

Tae looked back at me, then back at Yoongi.

"I guess," Tae suggested.

What!?

"It's alright, y/n," Taehyung stated with a bright smile. "My arms will be your seatbelt!"

I let out an uncomfortable smile while glancing over at Namjoon, who was asleep, leaning on the car door.

"Can you get in the car, Yoongi?!" Hoseok yelled out of nowhere.

"Yeah, y/n and Tae have to move over first," Yoongi stated.

"Come on guys, we'll miss the movie," Hobi politely requested.

I gave Yoongi one last glance before looking over at Taehyung, who was patting his lap.

I'm sure normal friends don't do this...

"There, happy now, Yoongi?" Taehyung asked after I moved over.

Yoongi nodded before sitting beside us.

I was as close to the edge of Tae's legs as possible while sitting up as straight as I could.

"If we have an accident you're going to die, y/n."

I looked back at Yoongi silently before shuffling back on Tae's lap more. Yoongi gave Taehyung a sly smile before bringing his attention to the outside of his window.

Is this funny to him?!

I stared at my shoes silently for the whole ride. This had been the most uncomfortable situation I had ever experienced.

The main character of the movie screamed dramatically as she faced her killer.

"This is so cheesy," Namjoon whispered, leaning closer to my ear. I nodded in agreement while watching her get stabbed.

Taehyung, who was sitting to my right, let out an audible groan as the masked killer revealed their identity to be the lady's local pet store owner.

What goes on in the mind of these directors?

"Did you have fun?" Namjoon asked as he held my front door open. I nodded softly in response, even though what I experienced was far from fun.

"I'm glad," he chuckled while scratching the back of his neck. Namjoon reluctantly spoke, stopping and restarting his sentences.

He let out a soft sigh before pulling a book out of his bag.

"Can you do something for me, y/n?" He bashfully passed me the book, making sure I didn't open it.

"What is it?" I asked, examining the worn out cover on the front.

"I tried writing a few poems," he mumbled. "Do you think you could..." He smiled in embarrassment. "Read a few and tell me what you think?"

"A-alright," I shrugged.

"Thank you," he said softly. "Maybe you could just read one once a day or something," he suggested. "Whatever you want to do," he held his hands up while backing away from my front door.

I nodded quickly.

"Well," he chuckled. "See you when I see you."

I gave him a small smile before he turned and jogged back to Hobi's car.

See you when I see you.

I stumbled inside, swiftly dodging everything in the way of my room. Quickly, I threw my bag away before flopping onto my bed.

Swiftly, I threw the book open to the first page. A small block of words greeted me on the other side, slowly, I examined each line, each word and each letter.

As the whisper defines the scream,

I am but a speck in this infinite abyss we call our home.

"What?"

I read it again, this time upside down, hanging off the side of my bed.

"What is this supposed to mean?"

I read it over once more, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

"Is that seriously it?" I whispered, searching around the page.

"This can't be it."

"I still don't get why we need to be in the cleaning closet-"

"I don't understand."

Namjoon stared down at me silently in confusion.

"What?"

"My thought's exactly," I mumbled while pulling Namjoon's poem book out of my school bag. "I read the first poem but it's..."

Namjoon looked at me expectantly.

"It's-" I quickly shoved the book into his hands. "I don't know what it is."

"Poetry is interpretative, even the poet doesn't need to know-"

"Just..." I sighed while looking down at the poem. "Can you make a meaning out of it?"

"Well, you could just say that it's like yin and yang. Without good there can't be bad because there's nothing to compare either to, right?"

"Right..?" I asked.

"So without a whisper, there can't be a scream, meaning the whisper moulds what a scream is."

"And?" I asked. "What about the second part?"

"God, I thought you were giving me feedback," he groaned. "I didn't expect this to be a poetry lecture."

"Fine then," I grumbled. "I'll teach you about making charms and you can teach me about poetry."

He folded his arms while staring down at me.

"Fine," he sighed. "But you'll have to work to learn."

"Meaning?"

"Figure out what I'm trying to say in the second line," he proposed.

"Are you seriously giving me homework?" I scoffed.

"If you don't want it then I guess I'll take my book back then," he sighed dramatically while holding out his hand.

"Fine," I grumbled. "I'll figure it out."

"Good," he stated softly.
