Chapter 5. Uffington
They sat together on a low wide stone wall under a stand
of elm trees. "What do see Vie?" Innis asked.
"A wide valley, empty fields and a lake." Vie said, not sure if
that was the right answer.
"Do you see the chalk horse cut into the side of the hills."
"I can." Vie said.
"I used to walk up here sometimes when I was a boy.
The morning mists would lie flat across the valley,
and from here, it looked like that horse was galloping over
the clouds."
"That must of been beautiful to see." Vie said.
"Did you grow up around here Mr. Page?"
"Call me Innis, Vie."
"Innis." Vie said.
Innis smiled and Vie was surprised by how much Finn looked
like his Father.
"Down there by that lake once stood a large country home.
The estate had its own Chapel and they employed
a Pastor - My Father. Our family lived in a manse on the property.
Just the three of us."
From where she was sitting Vie couldn't see anything of what
Innis had described. "What happened to it all?"
Innis didn't answer straight away.
"I hated my Father. He was the worst kind of self righteous,
holier than thou hypocrite . I think he believed he was destined
for a postion in the high Anglican church, but it wasn't to be,
so he took his frustrations out on my Mother and me.
He used to beat me black and blue."
Innis sighed.
"I was young then and I didn't understand how trapped in the
relationship my Mother was. I thought she was weak."
Vie didn't know what to say.
"One night when he was beating her, I took a kitchen knife

and stabbed him in the shoulder. I don't know who yelled
the loudest, I didn't wait around - I ran away from home."
"You eventually came back though." Vie said
"I did." Innis said. " When I came back, I found the wealthy
family and their estate had fallen on hard times.
The Chapel was no longer being used and my parents
were long gone."
"Did you find out where they went?" Vie asked.
"Not for certain." Innis said.
"I bought the property. The house, the Chapel, the manse
the gardens, everything - and I had it all razed to the ground.
I let the folks from the local area come and take what ever
building materials they wanted. When the workmen were
clearing the overgrown gardens near the Chapel they found
some unmarked headstones."
"You parents?" Vie asked.
"I like to think they were amongst them. " Innis said.
"I had all the head stones removed and broken up."
Vie thought about that for a moment then stood up and looked
closely at the stones that made up the low wall they were
sitting on.
Innis laughed.
"I'm not rewriting my past Vie, I'm erasing it."

Silver, Sand, and Silken Wings
In the opinion of the common storyteller, Sylph did not exist. Frustrated and deceived by her mothers hiding the truth of her parentage, young dragoness Sylph heads out looking for answers along with a childhood friend, a young human alchemist. From the sky high walls of Carthia, through the winding, lively streets of Halfhill, her journey leads her all the way up north to the picturesque nightmare of snow where she hatched. And yet, the answers lie buried in the desert sand on the other side of the continent. In a world of cruel slave traders and a ruthless, self-proclaimed queen, Sylph uncovers the answers she seeks and realizes her grave mistake of ever leaving home. A singular misstep in the hostile city means death, or worse, and the guards are hot on her haunches after blundering her way through the gates. The draft for this work is finished. I am editing the chapters and putting them up. Updates every 14 days because I am tangled up in work.

The Foretold: Sun Child (Complete)

He has been your only friend for eleven years, initially partner in mischief and later your hunting companion and confidant. Now your friendship is being torn asunder, he has turned eighteen and is being sent away to become a Judge Knight Aspirant. What is to become of you? Before your friend leaves, there is murder and conspiracy! Magic left the land hundreds of years ago, all you have is your bow and hunting skills, nevertheless you must fight to survive and save another to have any hope of a future! Note: The graphic isn't mine; it is a re-imagining of a few separate images, any objections by original artists let me know. N.B. If you are looking for Sexual Content every chapter, or every second, third or fourth chapter this isn't the story for you - the Sexual Content is required for a plot device, not a way of life and the later chapters reflect that - please stop dropping Low Ratings when you feel I haven't met your idea of "fan service". This is finished as much as a multi book vision can be finished. At 750,000 words give or take and very little readership I can only blame myself. I have learnt a lot, possibly forgotten a lot as well! I will probably return to the Chapters at some point - a touch up here and a touch up there. The second book though will probably remain in my head for a very long time, so yes "cliffs" although I hope the characters and their motivations are developed enough that you can have a good guess at the content of Book Two and tell me so I can confirm or deny! This isn't a LITRPG where classes are developed, great foes are defeated by a hero of immense power. This is a story based within (I hope) a very real and consistent culture, that leaves breadcrumbs for the reader to work out what the heck is happening and why. This is a slow burn story as the MC is stumbling around discovering her new place and role. Author's Note (Apr 2021): I dropped the Fantasy Genre for the Mystery Genre, because while the setting mentions magic, is it about past glories and trying to return to them. Whereas the MC from Chapter One doesn't understand her predicament and the range of mysteries she must solve to survive. If I have this wrong PM me and I will change this back.
