《Crossing The Line》Eleven || Livia McAdams

My mother always says:

"The world makes way for those who know what they want and go for what they want."

And she's right; confidence is the Queen of getting what you want. You can't be worthy by being timid, meek, and nice about it because it will be tough for you.

The stronger wins in the end, and the weak, will have to just wait in line...waiting...because they don't dare to go the extra mile.

Life doesn't care. That's why people say life is unfair, but that's just an excuse not to work hard.

You only reap the rewards when you put in the work. It's unconventional, but that's the point.

That's why Elite's are Elite. They don't mind stepping on a few toes to get ahead.

People like hating on those that know what they want and those that have what they don't have. When you succeed, people believe you don't deserve it, even though they're failing—failures love to complain and blame others.

I'm one of those people they hate on.

The thing that people are jealous of is my indifference. You either learn from me or dislike me, but either way, that's what separates me from you.

I don't give a damn. I don't care how far I need to go because once my eye is set on something, I never let it go; I never give up.

Failures give up too easily.

Luena is weak.

I don't know how long her little crush has been, but I'm pretty sure she had all of that time, to be honest with her friend.

Now that Damie broke up with me, she thinks she can swoop in and take what's mine. Yet, she couldn't be more wrong.

In surfing, we don't stare at the waves; we seize them, and if one passes us by, someone else will have caught it.

I fight for what I want, and Damie is what I want. He's mine. I've claimed him, and there is no way in hell she will have him; she missed her chance.

I drink from my flute, the champagne smoothly going down my throat.

"Did you get it?" I ask Emily.

The brunette nods, handing me her phone. She's like my puppy, Strato, following me around. I met her at school. She was a loser Sophomore before I took her under my wing. Her parents are wealthy, as rich as Croesus, so she became a plus in my book.

I don't dislike her because she's useful even though her short hair could use some work.

What the hell is up with her split-ends?

I scan the photos of Damie and me all cosy on the balcony—at least that's how it seems.

Damie is so hot when he's angry. His eyes do this thing where it entrances you, and you can see the fire behind them, luring you in. I love getting him riled up. Maybe it's his Spanish blood.

Fucking. Sexy.

"Are you sure you should do this? They're just friends. I doubt she'll be trouble in winning Damian back." Emily responds uncertainly.

I eye her annoyingly, "for someone who doesn't have a boyfriend, you sure ask a lot of questions." I say pointedly.

She zips her mouth, motioning me to continue.

I roll my eyes and tap all the picture boxes to send to Luena.

If she thinks she has a chance, she has another thing coming.

"You have grit, girl. Fighting for your man like this. It's inspiring." Ren mocks. He's sitting next to me, drinking a glass of stinger.

I scoff, "at least I care to fight. You had one job to do Junior year and failed. You were supposed to make her love you, but what did you do? Made her your casual fling."

He shrugs, "at least she was a good lay. She was interesting. I think I was in love." He jokes.

I hate how close Damie is with Luena. She always was a third wheel.

The way Damie would treat her with love and tender care irritated me. I knew talking about it with Damie would set him off, so I never said anything. Instead, when I couldn't take it anymore, I asked Ren Wilkes to seduce her somehow and make her fall for him.

But her pesky little heart wouldn't budge.

"You're playing a losing game, Livia." He plays with the end of my ponytail, but I shove his hand away. "They have history. Just call it quits now, and move on."

I smirk, "I never lose, Ren, only win."

I will win Damie back, and when I do, Luena will have no choice but to walk away. She might even get out of his life for good because there is one thing a teenage girl can't stand...not being chosen by the one she loves.
