11.5. Saria - The Exile
In the coral reefs south of Restoura resides an oceanic elven clan named the Vishone. Known for their unrivaled magical affinities, Saria, like any other child, was expected to possess extraordinary arcane capabilities. However, at age twelve, she hit a deadlock, unable to improve no matter what training method she used. Once a prodigy, even amongst the Vishone, she was now a nobody, left to watch her sibling’s success as she was left behind.
As time passed, Saria received the nickname of the Wasted Prodigy, unworthy of calling herself a Vishone. Finally, the elders had enough on her fifteenth birthday and decided to exile Saria as she would ruin the clan’s fearsome reputation. Saria begged and begged for hours until the leader came up with a final proposal: if in a duel, she could wound him, even the slightest bit, her exile would be postponed. Naturally, with her lack of power, Saria lost the bid and only disgraced herself more as she stepped out the gate.
Soon after, Saria explored the lands for years without a goal in mind until she met an elderly fortune teller who saw her true potential. She told Saria about the underworld, known as the Rift, and how it could release the chains holding her in a deadlock. This new hope sparked a light within her and unlocked a different chapter in her life. Along with three other adventures, she now marches toward their destiny within the abyss.
Maybe one day, she will return the humiliation she felt on the day of her exile.
