《Cold Waters (Russian Male Ship x Azurlane)》Towards the Unknown

A lone ship, damaged and partially fronzen was making it's way through the heavy snowstorm, with it's spotlight closed because of the fear of being found by sirens, with low fuel levels, heavily damaged and low ammo.
Chabanenko: My radar is partially working and GPS is out, my fuel temperature is ok for now, but soon I will need to inject some vodka, to help the injectors a bit. But I wonder what is this harpoon for? I remember having 2 of them, but a third one? I can move it, and is slowly shining purple with yellow?
Too many question now I need to be careful, my fuel is low and I can't go break ice because my hull will fall apart, I need repairs . . .
With the snowstorm getting stronger it started to affect Chabanenko, making him to find a shelter, but where?
Chabanenko: Cyka, this storm is getting stronger, I need to find cover, or I will become one with the icebergs.
Warning! Multiple compartments are freezing,
Chabanenko: Easy to say, but where can I hide from this in the middle of this frozen ocean?! WHERE?!
Acknowledged, due to the critical situation, a route to the nearest refuel station/ship will be created. Due to low fuel levels, energy from the wisdom cube shall be used to increase the range.
Route plotted, Pearl Harbor. . . Accept?
Chabanenko: You want me to go back?! Oh nyet, forward only!
Re-plotting, a convoy with unknown affiliation has been found, fuel can be transferred. . . Accept?
Chabanenko: Well, it's better than going back . . .
478 nautical miles till convoy.
Chabanenko: Ahead-slow, and I must inject one bottle of vodka.
(a/n): Injection of vodka isn't op, it will help Chabanenko to increase fuel efficiency, cleaning the injectors and decreases the chance of engine failure due to cold weather.
Chabanenko: I miss my motherland, and comrades, I wonder . . . Is anyone alive besides me? Maybe UK's ships? Or American's I think they may suffered heavy casualties, but it must be at least a few ships alive . . . But I wonder what about the Sirens? They may be still alive? Lurking around like parasites.
Radar pings
Chabanenko: Contacts?! Sirens?! I can't confirm . . . Hope the ammo will last, long enough.
Only one radar ping
Chabanenko: . . . It can be a cargo ship? Or a Siren? But Siren usually attack en-mass, hmm americans? But if it's a sub?! Too many options of dangers. I will change the course, hard right.
As Chabanenko suddenly changed his course, the unknown ping continue its course.
After some time the ping passed and Chabanenko returned to his course.
S. O. S. Signal detected . . . Ship's affiliation: Ship type: Cargo ship
Chabanenko: . . . Isn't that the ship that the unknown ping?! WAIT HOW A A CARGO COULD PIERCE THE THICK ICE?! Icebreaker escort? I detected no other pings is ny radar broken?
A Freighter, maybe it has fuel? What are the chances . . . But anything might be valuable or a deathful mistake. Cyka! If that cargo ship won't give me refuel I will make it a nice coral.
Chabanenko turned around, to save the cargo ship.
Chabanenko: I hear gunshots . . . arm small fire, people? Fighting? Let's use the spotlight.
A flickering light, was piercing the snowstorm, it wasn't that strong but it was working. The gunshots were getteing louder louder, humans still fight each other when even in this condition.
Chabanenko: Humans . . . Even after the world is a frozen wasteland, they have time to fight each other, is their nature as a human I think. Oh I found the cargo ship.
The cargo ship was stopped by other 2 ships, smaller, corvettes but their flags were different, pirates, in corvettes.
Chabanenko: Ha? Pirates?! HERE?!
Without a second thought, Chabanenko moved his AK-130, and it was stuck, the gun was frozen to it's mounth, the only way to get a line of fire was to move the entire ship .
Chabanenko: AK-630, For the love of Motherland please work.
To his surprise only the AK-630 from the right side was the only weapon fully operational.
Chabanenko: I won't waste torpedoes, on pirates, is not like I don't have any. Ha. Now pirates or parasites or pieces of crap or trash that even poles wouldn't shoot with their trash cannons it how bout one way ticket to hell.
His AK-630 took aim and fired, the wounderful sound of brrrt, the first pirate corvette, didn't stood a chance, in matter of seconds, it became swiss cheese.
Chabanenko: I just fired 500 bullets . . . I didn't knew they would be soo weak.
The second corvette stopped the boarding manoeuvre and attack him, with it's gun, from front, right side,
The first shots missed but the next ones were hitting Chabanenko, destroying what was left of the superstructure.
Chabanenko:
As the second pirate corvette was passing to the left side unaware that Chabanenko's AK-130 that was frozen in its gun mouth, vould fire.
Chabanenko:
click, click, click
Chabanenko: . . . IS NOT A GOOD TIME TO NOT WORK! Still getting hit by the pirate corvette
Warning flooding detected, bulkheads closed pumps at 50% capacity.
Chabanenko: YOU LITTLE-
Finally the Ak-130 opened fire, shooting with one cannon, it caught the pirate corvette off-guard, blowing it up in.
The screams of people could be heard and gunshots, Chabanenko got closer it moved his spotlight on the deck of the cargo ship, people were fighting, but blinded by the Chabanenko's light they stopped.
???:NOW IS TIME KILL THE PIRATES WE ARE SAVED! KILL ALL OF THEM NO PRISONERS THEY AREN'T EVEN WORTH BEING A PRISON.
The pirates which had the advantage with guns and manpower, because of Chabanenko's spotlight they were blinded, and slowly killed.
???: We surrender! Please don't kill us, we're trying to make a livi- shot in the head.
???: WE WON! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WE ACTUALLY WON! I WILL SEE MY FAMILY AGAIN!
Family, Chabanenko remembered his brothers from Udaloy II, Admiral Kucherov, and Admiral Basisty with thier tragic end
Chabanenko: Those times, yeah . . . They we're scrapped in 1994 . . . Laid down in 1991 . . .
???: But if the other ship is another pirate ship?!
???: Is for the first time I've seen such ship.
???: Why there's no crew, wait this ship was through frozen hell or something? It's took a lot of punishment.
???: Still where's the crew?!
Chabanenko: cuckles I am the crew.
???: Captain what we should, maybe she's a shopgirl?! If it's Sakura or Eagle we're screwed . . .
???: We're screwed with all factions we are rebels . . .
???: LOOK AT IT'S FLAG!
To Chabanenko's surprise the crew was now admiring his might, they're humans after all.
Chabanenko: They haven't seen modern ships or something? Wait what are shipgirls?!
???: Still no crew? They are scared or something?
???: I think most of the crew is dead.
Chabanenko: Uhhhh, I need to talk in Morse code.
He started flashing one of his smaller lights.
???: Look that light is flashing!
???: Ah yes the ice is made of ice.
???: No time for jokes you dumbass, it's Morse code!
???: What?
???: Morse code! Captain?
Captain: What it says?
Chabanenko: ..-. ..- . .-.. (Fuel)
GIVE ME FUEEEEELLL!
Captain: F, U, E, L? Fuel? It wants fuel? For what it did, I don't mind giving some, we have only gas?
???: But Captain we have strict orders to bring fuel back
Chabanenko: -.-- . ... (Gas)
Captain: G, A, S? Gas?! We're a tanker after all, and you are lucky we're carrying gas. Prepare your crew for fuel transfer!
Chabanenko: I AM THE CREW FOR MOTHERLAND'S SAKE!
Chabanenko: -. --- / -.-. .-. . .-- ( no crew)
Captain: N, O? C, R, E, W?! ARE YOU A SHIPGIRL?!
Chabanenko: . . . I'M GOING INSANE!
Chabanenko .-- .... .- - / ... .... .. .--. --. .. .-. .-.. ..--..
???: We're screwed, done for.
Captain: NOBODY ASKED FOR YOUR CRIES I CAN'T READ THE MORSE CODE WITH Y'ALL PUSSIES CRYING!
W, H, A, T? S, H, I, P, G, I, R, L? What shipgirl? Shipgirls?
Break bought to you by Chabanenko spinning in the circle of insanity.
Chabanenko: I need to shot this guys!
Chabanenko: -- . / -. --- - / ... .... .. .--. --. .. .-. .-..
(me not shipgirl)
Captain: Me? N, O T? S, H, ipgirl? Me not shipgirl, then what in the holy name of God are you?! Call the old man!
???: Yes sir.
An older man appeard, suprised to see Chabanenko.
Old man: OHHHHH, a relic of the first human-siren war? What a beauty
Chabanenko:
Captain: What do you mean?
Old man: You know, 25-30 years ago I don't remember well, when I was serving in the Polish Navy, we fought with ships like that
points at Chabanenko an-
Captain: And that ship is without crew, is impossible it must be a shipgirl.
Old man: Shut up and listen, this ship is Russian not Northern or how it's called.
Captain: Bu- cut by old man
Old man: Can't you just shut up and listen? If it was a shipgirl we would be all icebergs.
I remember when I fought side by side with the Russian navy, they had some prototypes, all superpowers had, you know the glowing blue cube the shipgirls were created with? They were used first on ships like that giving them how can I say it, an AI, yes AI I saw multiple Russian ships without crew and did very good without, they are autonomous.
Chabanenko: Now I'm AI?
Captain: I remember something, but I was a small kid back then . . .
Old man: Is a friendly russian ship, I don't know how it survived such a long time, without being tear apart by sirens or the other countries.
Chabanenko: You won't believe my story.
Old man: Hey, Russian ship, how about coming with us? I think you barely survived this frozen hell, we are rebels how the other countries think about us but we're all refugees.
Chabanenko: With the shipgirls and sirens all around it would be preferable option...
Chabanenko: -.-- . ... (Yes)
Captain: ARE YOU CRAZY? THE COMMAND WILL-
Old man: Be happy? You know our naval power is almost non-existent, our flagship is a Corvette! A CORVETTE!
Chabanenko: Wow, corvettes as a flagship? You sure suffered a lot.
Old man: We're going to Australia, that's were we all live, the only which wasn't invaded yet.
Captain: You will take full responsibility.
Old man chuckles: Yeah, yeah go cry about. Hey you lazy bastard re-fuel the ship!
???: But
Old man: No buts, do you still want to go home alive?
???: Yes.
Old man: And use some hot water on the Russian gun mounths we need to be sure they work, they saved us from those pesky pirates and use ropes tow the pirate corvette.
Chabanenko: Old man, you won my respect, hmm polish?
Some of the crew supervised by the old man, re-fueled Chabanenko and did some repairs on his weapons and super structure.
Old man: Ok captain we are good to go, and so it's our Russian escort.
Captain: Ok, let us proceed, russian ship you stay in front, we need some guns to scare pirates, sirens or anything else, is that ok with you AI?
Chabanenko -_- : -.-- . ... (yes)
Chabanenko: This captain wants to go to gulag? Of course he wants.
The storm started to calm down, and after some time the sun appeared, the entire ocean was covered by white, polar bears and penguins appeard, sea lions and so on.
Chabanenko: Wow, what a view. From what it seems they put me front to break the Ice too, their is damaged from the Ice, he pathetic, the old man is the friendly one. I can understand the hostility and fear from others, but shipgirls? Ship? Girls? Woman boast?! It's crazy just how it sounds.
The little convoy sailed for 2 days without problems, amd because Chabanenko could use nightvision, they didn't had to use lights during the night.
Chabanenko: 2 days? Hmm . . .Quite the journey.
Meanwhile in the tanker.
Captain: Old man, you serious?
Old man: What? The Russian ship, helped us a lot, during the night we didn't had to use lights at all, and we didn't hit any icebergs, and I did some repairs on it, but I couldn't go inside, as you can see the poor ship is tilted with some degrees to left, those pirates caused some flooding. And the weapons, IT'S AN ENTIRE ARSENAL!
4 CIWS! One main gun with 2 barrels, missiles lots and torpedoes, even eagle union entire carrier fleet won't stand a chance! Those missiles are extremely valuable, you know we only use semi-guided missiles, but we have lots of of guided but we can't use them on our ships, but the Russian can, if we convince it to stay with use we will win a lot of firepower.
We could even take back Indonesia and Malaysia.
Captain: Keep dreaming.
Old man: What an ass are you, let's see what high command has to say, I think it would be thrilled.
Captain laughs: Keep dreaming, go to sleep.
Old man: Remember this, the on wbo laughs the last laughs better. Remember this. Leaves.
Captain: If it could be that easy . . . We are considered as rebels, we are poor people who dared to run, and not fight each other.
The war between Crimson Axis and Azur Lane, is making things worse, those who decide to run is considered traitor. A PAIN IN THE ASS! If that Russian ship joins, I swear I'm gonna try my best to put nukes on it and nuke every damn faction untild nothing is left.
Back to Chabanenko
Chabanenko: The old man did a great job 2 AK-630 are working and the main gun can now move, now let's me re-check the ammo.
Ak-130: 98/180 shells.
AK-630: First has 2566/4000 bullets, the second has 3000/4000 and the other 2 are not operational.
4/8 SS-N-22 anti-ship missiles.
46/64 SA-N-9 groudn-to-air missiles.
I'm pretty stacked up, if any hostiles appears, I will make them minced meant.
Multiple radar pings 2 larger and the rest are small.
I jinxed it didn't I? Let me alarm the the tanker.
Chabanenko: . -. . -- -.-- / -.. . - . -.-. - . -.. --..-- / -. --- .-. - .... -....- . .- ... - (Enemy detected, north-east)
???: Huh? What's the russian ship doing? Morse again? runs to the captain
In the captain's quarter
???: The russian ship is flashing again.
Captain: I have a bad feeling about this.
Goes on deck.
Captain: E, N, E,? ENEMY?! N, O, R, T, H? E-
Enemy north-east?! They tailed us?! Check the radar!
???: Nothing sir.
Old man: Don't compare our radar civilian radar with ghe military one. Give me a pair of binoculars.
Old man: As expected, Sakura wants some ful too, damned carriers. Many zeros incoming, let our escort take care of it.
AND MAN THE AA! BRING THOSE OLD BOFORS UP!
Chabanenko: 2 carriers, maybe the pirates that survived exposed our direction.
Meanwhile the 2 Sakura carrier.
???: Do we really need to chase that tanker?
???: There are tons of valuable fuel there of course. Just tell them to surrender, we won't kill anybody.
???: Wait, there are 3 ships.
???: What?! How?!
???: One is a pirate corvette is being towed by the tanker, and I can't identify the other.
???: The pirates we rescued, told us to watch for the other ship, it destroyed them fast.
???: Now what can go wrong? Is not like we will get shot at this distance.
Back at Chabanenko
Chabanenko: Ok carrier are locked, SS-N-22 are ready anytime, now let's see what those planes can do.
The planes reached Chabanenko and the tanker and started circling them.
Captain: They want us to surrender the fuel eh?
Old man: FIRE!
The tanker opened up the AA's, and like the Americans in WW2, it had a lot of Bofors
The sky, lighted up and one by one the planes started to fall.
Chabanenko: Not bad, but why the ain't attacking, wait this isa diversion, multiple coming from south-west! Let's warm up, come on get closer get closer!
The planes entered attack formatikn against Chabanenko.
Chabanenko: Yes, just like and FIRE!
Quick burst from the AK-630 and the planes became fireballs, but that was the first wave.
Chabanenko: They are toying with us, play with the prey? Eh, ok let's play your game, you have 3 mins before I fire my missiles.
Back to the Sakura carriers.
They got closer and could see through binoculars Chabanenko.
???: How's that possible?!
???: What?
???: The ship escorting, is a old ship! Is one from the first war!
???: How can you tell?
???: Be looking at it. They managed to get such a ship . . . But from where, all of them were sunk, scrapped or joined the frozen wasteland.
???: Give it to me! I want to see it. sees Chabanenko's burst of fire from his AK-630's
It's AA is extremely good, our planes can't get close.
???: Let's attack from all directions.
???: We don't have choice, Nagato will be upset if we don't catch the tanker and our Senpais will mock us again.
???: Let's do this.
They launched almost all of their planes.
Back to Chabanenko
Chabanenko: Finally, they start attacking us , come on. You have 1 minute left.
A huge wave of planes started attacking, they slit into multiple squadrons and encircled the little convoy.
Captain: We're low on ammo, OH NO THEY ENCIRCLED US, we are doomed.
Old man: The Russian ship has the half of it's AA disabled, it can't cover it's back, I couldn't repair them, they are too complicated. Is not like a jam
Chabanenko: I can't cover my back, the other AK-630's are disabled. I don't have a choice but to use the SA-N-9's.
The planes started their bomb run. From the back of Chabanenko.
Chabanenko': .
2 SS-N-22's flew towards the Sakura's carriers while some SA-N-9'S were fired to destroy a part lf the planes.
Sakura's carriers.
???: It fired with something, and destroyed 10 planes in one shot, even if it's is non-existent in the back, wait it shot 12 . . . 2 missed?

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
