《Vampire's Betrayal》Chapter Twelve

Donny wasn't too happy when he heard that both Max and Arika disobeyed him. I didn't blame him. I'm sure he had more important things to do other than taking me to go shopping for things I might need. But he didn't complain one bit about it. Instead he whispered something to Vlad before leading me out of the house towards his car.

"You don't have to take me," I told him as we got into his car. It also didn't escape my notice that it was the same model as the one that the Seadonnas had. The only difference was that it was all black.

"I know," he responded, "But I'm just dropping you off and then coming back here to deal with those two. It's best you don't see what is going to happen."

Chills went down my spine and my imagination took me back to the Donny I first met. The evil look in his eyes as he was determined to end my life. It was completely opposite from the Donny I saw at this moment. It was hard to believe that it was the same person.

"I know you said that I don't want to know how you get the red eyes, but how do you get them?" I heard myself as.

Donny sighed, "We aren't like the Seadonnas. Due to my actions and those that join me, Gene V decided to punish us by making us drink blood in order to survive." he then glanced me, "It's not a small amount either."

He didn't have to say it. The amount they needed could kill people. I can understand now why the Seadonnas saw them as evil. The Shidonna family killed people in order to survive. Then the thought started to scare me. Will that happen to me because I left the safety of the Seadonna family? Or, will I be spared because I didn't actually say that I was going to be part of the Shidonna family.

I let my thoughts wonder about things I couldn't possibly understand as Donny drove me to wherever it was that I was going to be shopping. From my life living with the Seadonnas, I learned that these family have special stores they are allowed to shop at. Places where people are sworn to keep secrets of their customers that never seem to age as quickly as they do. I never have been in such a place, but I guess there is always a first time for everything.

Before I knew it, Donny was pulling up in front of the entrance of a large mall looking place. I stared at the building through the window. For some reason I was picturing a warehouse of some sort. Something sketchy and looked highly illegal. Instead it was just a normal mall with people walking in and out of the building. It looked so normal.

Donny chuckled, "Not what you were expecting?"

I shook my head and answered honestly, "I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this."

The sound of the doors unlocking told me that it was my time to leave the car. I didn't hesitate to do so, curious about what the place looked like on the inside. The whole place made me feel like a kid being dropped off at a candy store. But before I could go any farther, Donny yelled out of the window. Making me turn to look back at him through the window.

He held out a card, making me reach in to grab it, "You'll need that to buy things. Be careful because this is neutral ground, but that doesn't mean it has the same rules as Nana's place."

After he said that, he drove off. Leaving me alone to shop at a place I never been to. It kind of scared me because I wasn't used to something like this. Slowly turning in tense hesitation to face the entrance, I gave myself a small pep talk. Telling myself that I could do this and that it wasn't a big deal.

But the moment I took a step forward, someone called my name. Making me stop suddenly and turn to see who called out to me. A familiar face made me relax instantly as they walked up to me.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you," I told them as they walked up to me. His green eyes shining as he smiled at me.

"Did I just see you get out of Donny's car?" they asked confused.

I sighed, "Yeah. I don't know if you heard but I left the family until Boss it taken care of."

He looked at me shocked, "You what?! I leave to visit my mother and you end up leaving the family?! What the hell happened while I was away?"

I had no idea where to start to answer his question. So I decided to grab his hand and lead him to a place where we could sit and talk. But it was nice to have another familiar face on my side.
