《Vampire's Betrayal》Chapter Seven

Donny must have thought that I was going to get lost because he was waiting for me a few blocks away from Seadonna Tower. It was quite bold of him to do since he was being displayed as the enemy. But it also showed how much Donny didn't really care about what other people thought. I was starting to notice a pattern when it came to people not following the traditional Seadonna way. We become the enemy.

"I didn't even get the chance to see where we were supposed to meet," I teased.

He held out a small container towards me, "Put these in."

I grabbed the container from him and noticed that it was a holder for contacts. Opening it up I saw red contacts looking back at me. Just seeing it made me look at him in confusion.

"Where we are going, you'll need to blend in. Those will give you the red eyes you need to make it look like you are one of us," he explained.

"What causes your red eyes in the first place?" I heard myself ask.

He just smirked at me, "You'll find out in time."

Just the way on how he said it made a shiver go down my spine. Also how he avoided answering the question made me feel like it was something that would make me uncomfortable. I could only imagine what it could be and it wasn't making me feel any better about the situation.

Trying to shake off the sudden chill in my bones and the unpleasant images playing in my mind, I went to a near by convivence store to put in the contacts. It was hard due to my hands shaking. I had left the safety of Seadonna Tower and I was on my way to a very dangerous place. If I slipped up at all, I could die because I had a feeling I was headed to Donny's territory.

Once the contacts were finally in, I ended up really looking at myself in the mirror. The contacts made my eyes sting but it was so weird to see my eyes as red instead of blue. My hair looked like a mess, so I grabbed a hair tie from my pocket and put it up into a messy ponytail. My bangs fell over my face as I put the contact case into my pocket and rejoined Donny outside.

He nodded in approval when he saw me. "You'll fit right in," he said as he handed me a small backpack.

Grabbing it, I glanced to see what was inside. All I could see was black cloth looking back at me. Confused I looked at Donny, "What is this?" I asked.

"Clothes to help you blend in more. If you haven't noticed, my followers go by a gothic attire," he answered.

Even though I did like the some of the things that were considered gothic, I never actually imagined myself becoming one of them. Curious, I pulled out some of the clothes that were in the bag and couldn't help making the facial expressions I was sure I was making as I looked at them.

The things that Donny packed were probably discarded clothes because they were dirty and covered in holes. Maybe it was the look that the clothes were going for, but it wasn't something I was willing to wear. Even if my life depended on it.

"Do you have anything else?" I asked him as I threw the clothes back in the bag. He shook his head as a response, "Then I'm dead. I can't wear that."

"Then what do you expect to wear?" he asked me a little annoyed.

Standing up I through the back back at him, "I'm going as myself. If they have a problem with it, they can help me fix it."

In my mind it made sense. I just became a vampire and was still learning the ropes of things. The more I realized that I shouldn't have to change my appearance after being becoming a brand new vampire, I started to think I didn't need the contacts either. All of Donny's followers were going to know that I came right from Seadonna Tower. Even if I were to disguise myself, they still won't trust me. I could die either way.

So I pulled out the contact case from my pocket and took out the contacts to Donny's horror. He looked at me like he couldn't believe what I was doing as I threw the case back at him.

"Are you nuts?!" he nearly shouted.

"Everyone knows that Emily tried to kill me and that I'm now in stage two of Gene V. They aren't going to trust me even if I try to blend in," I told him honestly, "It's better for me to just walk in like this and explain that I didn't want to be part of a family that was protecting a traitor."

Donny let out a heavy sigh. He looked to the sky as if he was praying for patience before he looked back at me, "Fine. We will do it your way. But if you die, David will have my head."

I then watched him throw the bag and contact case into a nearby dumpster, cursing the whole entire time. It was hard to believe that this was the same person to be painted as a ruthless killer. Then I remembered that back in my hometown, he tried to kill me. Or, was it all an act?

"Why are you so different than the person I first met back in my hometown?" I heard myself ask, making Donny look at me.

"This is who I really am. I'm just like my brother. I can't hurt a fly," he answered.

"Then why try to kill me?" I kept asking.

He let out a sigh, "I wasn't actually going to kill you. I was only trying to save you."

"So that whole thing was an act?" I asked skeptically.

Giving me a small smile he answered, "Sometimes you have to show them what they want to believe."
