《The Devil's Parcel》Chapter 14: My first war

Lilith's hair ran through the breeze, Flowing like a river with no destination.

Cerberus breathed harder and harder as he ran as fast as possible to reach the battlefield.

The battles have been never-ending since Lilith set up base in enemy territory. The move happened after Sol gained the upper hand in one of the recent battles and was finally able to take land from the enemies.

The base was moved atop a hill that gave a line of sight to both borders and a clean supply of water in the form of a lake. On top of all that, the hill was easy to defend.

Lilith and Cerberus finally made it to the battlefield. Benjamin and Lillia were already there, taking soldiers on.

The smell of blood never sat right with Lilith, but in war, you must put aside your fears lest you want to die. Luckily for her, her training in the academy helped with this issue.

Lilith charges toward the battle with nothing but a blade in hand and a will.

Lilith didn't want to, but the whole time she fought, she was doing so with the intent to kill

Her silver blade turned crimson, and her purple hair drowned in sweat as the battle continued.

Lilith, although she didn't like it, her ferociousness granted her the nickname Lilith the cat of death.

The battle was won with minimal casualties.

Funerals were held for the fallen not long after they died. The grieving was left alone to deal with their affairs, and the rest went to fight another battle. This was a never-ending cycle that had occurred every day since the war started.

This cycle was one Lilith did not want either side to experience any longer. To end this war, Lilith was going to murder an Emporer.

Four long days had passed.

Everyone was getting ready for the big 'event.'.

Polishing blades, enchanting armor, dusting off old spell pages, and mental fortification were the things all the soldiers did to prepare for one all-out attack.

Gord and Samael arrived and were told the plan.

With everyone ready, the plan gets set into motion.

The soldiers were getting ready to leave on their horses when Abel finally returned.

"Where have you been?" Abel turned around to see Lillia with tears in her eyes.

Abel wiped off the tear that rolled down Lillia's face and said, "Taking care of personal affairs."

Everyone came over to where Abel was to tell him the plan, but to their surprise, he already knew it. "How do you already know? You were gone for five days," said Lilith

"I was keeping an eye on you while I was gone."

Lilith was shocked, but it turned into anger when she realized he was watching her do everything. "YOU PERVERT!"

"I am your royal guard, so I must keep an eye on you."

"How will Alastor feel that you saw me naked?!"

"This isn't the first time."

"WHAT!"

Abel turned around and said, "Alright, let's go commit murder."

"HEY!"

With that, the army set out.

It wasn't long before Abel spotted an Enemy encampment along the path to the city.

He jumped off his horse, pulled out his scythe, and killed everyone in the blink of an eye.

With his leftover momentum, he jumped on top of his horse.

"Show off," Benjamin said with a straight face.

There were more encampments along the way, but they were nothing in the face of the army.

Half a day had passed, and Lilith decided the army should set up camp, which they did.

The soldiers were all in different states of mind. Some were ready, but some were afraid, which is understandable. This war has taken its toll on everyone. Everyone except for Abel. Everyone from the main squad sat around a campfire just talking.

Eventually, the subject of Abel came up.

"So Abel, how come you don't look distressed or worried? Everyone is scared of dying or losing someone they love." Lillia grabbed Abels's hand as she asked.

"This isn't my first war, nor will it be my last. I'm also not worried about losing anyone because I won't let that happen." Abel interlocks his fingers with Lillias

Benjamin asked his question with curiosity, "What was your first war like?"

Abel thinks and then smiles before answering, "My first war was Scary, but I wasn't worried because I had Alastor with me the entire time. We killed an army of tyrants. We did it because they were trying to conquer our home, and they cast out Alastors first love."

Lilith lifted her head and wanted to ask a question, but Amaya beat her. "You and Alastor took on an entire army by yourselves?"

"It wasn't just us; we did most of the work, so I don't really count them."

"What land did you guys fight for?"

Abel exhaled, then said, "It doesn't exist anymore. This was a long time ago."

Lilith finally asked the question she wanted to ask "Wait, Alastor's first love got cast out?"

"That's the best way I can describe it. She wasn't killed, but one second she was there, and the next, she was gone. We looked everywhere, but we never found her."

"So she was erased from existence?"

"His first love wasn't that weak, but they did something to her that she was vulnerable to."

"Who was she?"

"That isn't something I can answer."

Lillia pinched Ables's cheek. "So, who was your first love?"

Abel exhaled again and said, "I never had one. Alastor was the only person I had in my life since I was a child. I never had to joy to experience what Alastor had; until now anyways." Abel turned to Lillia and kissed her.

Lillia grabbed Abel's hand, got up, and started walking with him. Not before saying, "Hey Lilith, I'm going to head to my tent for a while."

Abel turned his head and winked at everyone.

Lilith was reminiscing about her the good times she had with Alastor.

She was snapped out of these thoughts by Amaya, "You know Lilith, there are better men out there. Good men who won't leave or hurt you."

"I don't want anyone else." Tears started swelling in Lilith's eyes.

Gord wiped it off and gave her a hug. "It's okay, Lilith; you'll see him eventually."

"Gord, you know he's not getting out. It's not right to lie to your daughter."

"Hmph. You don't know Alastor at all. If Alastor wanted to, he could break out, but he knows if he did, that would cause a war with all the nations leading to pointless deaths."

Amaya kept silent and walked away. She knew Gord was right; she didn't want to admit they were powerless against Alastor.

What remained left of the group just talked, catching up on what had happened the last couple of months.

The fire burned out hours later, and everyone went to sleep.

Everything was packed up in the morning, and the army set off to continue the mission.

The army ran into more enemy soldiers, but they stood no chance; Lilith's army had too many strong foes for the enemy to try and fight.

Eventually, the army reached the city, and what waited for them was an army.

Abel turned his head and whispered to Lilith, "Remember those super soldiers I told you about? Get ready to fight them."

"What? I thought we were fighting them the whole time?"

"Nope. Now get ready because they can't be underestimated."

With Lilith acknowledging Abel's warning, she gives a command, "Charge!"
