《The Devil's Parcel》Chapter 9: City
Advertisement
After her encounter with Abel, Lilith invited Amaya, Gord, and Samael to come to Sol to talk about where their nations stand regarding imports and exports and speak about Erin's situation. It would take three days for them to arrive, so Lilith kept busy checking on all the villages and towns. Secretly though, Lilith wanted to pry some information about the past from the three, but she knew that was the least of her concerns.
While Lilith was checking on the villages, she talked with the elders of the villages. She gathered their opinion on the thought of coming together and forming towns to which they liked the idea. Hearing they liked the idea, she gathered the Elders to the capital and began negotiating. "Okay, elders, this is what I propose we build a city. We use the existing villages as guides" Lilith points to the map on the table. "All the villages form a diamond if we were to line them up. If we split it equally, we can turn them into districts that tailor explicitly to the village's primary source of income. Since the city will be located near the east border, we can get refugees from the neighboring country of Zen, which is currently going through their civil war."
One of the Elders named kai asked a valid question "What are we going to do about differing religions?"
Lilith thought it over before saying, "Religion doesn't matter if it doesn't get in the way of work or cause any harm. But if there is a conflict where the refugees were to change how the district operates, they would be exiled. You see, my Elders, the city itself is neutral when it comes to Religion, but churches will be built for your specific Religion if you choose to build one, so there is no need to worry. When it comes to your practice, you will carry it out the same way you always have."

The other Elders also discussed their concerns regarding their natural resources or sustainability. They all agreed with what they settled on at the end of the negotiation. A decree was released, legally recognizing the villages as united and open for outsiders to be allowed to settle down in the city and work.
The next day with the help of creation-type magicians, houses were built for the influx of refugees from Zen.
"Wow, Lilith, I didn't think the Elders would agree to form a city." Lillia was eating her lunch while talking
"Why wouldn't they? They can make a lot more money now that they have more Labor, and our Nation can turn into a free country where peace can be seen no matter where you look."
Benjamin took Lillias's sandwich and took a bite before saying, "What are you going to do if Zen wants its people back after they finish their revolution, or what if they want to go back to their home after the war is finished."
"I will negotiate with Angel's province tomorrow and start an import and export deal creating a solid bond. People should come from other countries to buy and sell goods they cannot get anywhere else. Sol itself is closer to the sun than any other country in the world and due to that fact we get hot summers and some delicious fruits which end up in the animals we eat. And with hot summers and tasty food, people will want to relax at our lakes and enjoy good fruit."
"That is impressive, Lilith" Lillia and Benjamin drew their weapons and turned around to see who was speaking, but they put them away when they saw who it was
Benjamin greeted Gord with a full body search for anything dangerous, and when he found nothing, he let him get close to Lilith. In his raspy voice, Gord said, "Wow, you have some tight security Lilith; they won't even let a father see his daughter."

"They are doing their job" Lilith stares at Gord for a bit before going for a hug.
"It's good to see you, father" Lilith turns to Lillia and Benjamin and orders them out of the room, to which they comply.
"So Lilith, how is being a queen treating you?"
"It's going well; as you heard, my country is starting to build a city." Lilith thinks for a second and says, "Except there have been a lot of attacks nearby the city."
Gord strokes his beard before saying, "Do you know who is planning their attacks?"
"From the intel we gathered from a prisoner, it's linked to Erin."
"How so?"
"It's linked to the black magic witches led by her."
"How do you know she leads them?"
"Our torturer extracted that info. But from what we heard from her, she infiltrated the school to get closer to me. For what reason is still unknown
"I'll talk to this prisoner myself later to see if I can get more information out of him."
"Well, father onto other matters."
"Of which type."
"Abel"
Gords face turned to a pained expression before saying, "What about Abel?"
"Who is he"
"Why do you want to know about Abel."
Lilith says, "Father, please tell me, " With a serious look."
"As far as I know, is Alastor's right-hand man. HIs only equal."
"Another question. How old is Abel? From what I heard, he is Alastors childhood friend."
"That I couldn't tell you."
Lilith asks another question, "Where is Abel."
Gord lets out a sigh and says, "He died in the fight against Alastor. Why?"
Lilith looked confused but continued with the questioning, "Where is Abel from?"
"I can't tell you that either"
Lilith sighed and asked the question she wanted to ask the most, "Did Alastor really kill my people."
Gord was taken back by this question, but after finding the right words, he answered her question, "He did it for your sake."
Lilith wipes a tear before asking the final question, "Did Alastor almost kill me?"
"Yes"
Lilith is confused about how to feel because Alastor killed her people, but she was also in love with him back then as well. Lilith also realized that Abel is still alive, and finding him can reveal more answers about her past.
Amaya and Samael walk into the room and sit down. After a long negotiation of importing and exporting and other matters, they finally agreed, and trade routes would be built so everything would be more accessible for people. With an official agreement in place, Sol would become a hotspot for trading.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
