《The Devil's Parcel》Tales from the past (1)

I feel the pain flowing through my nerves, like a river rushing down a mountain. All I feel is loneliness and despair, but that is always how I felt until I met her. Losing my purpose in this accursed universe, I fell to my lowest. I never thought I would stoop so low, but nothing is impossible once you live as long as I have. All I have now are memories of our first encounter.

It was what humans call a Monday, and I was trudging through the Vulcan Greenlands (South of what is now Sol), aimlessly wandering wherever these lands would take me. My days were the same, with the lack of drive to do anything nor the will to even live, but when you're immortal, that doesn't matter. When humans say they want to live forever, it makes me laugh; they don't know how prolonged living can affect anyone. I thought I had gotten used to it, but it seems that this time was different from all the others; after all, doing the same thing over and over can get tiring. But every time I think about why I'm doing this, I gather enough strength to press forward. However, my strength was not enough to continue this time. Before I knew it, I had collapsed on the perimeter fence of the nearby village.

The village was full of humanoid creatures with cat ears and tails. Seeing this, I tried to get up and leave, but my willpower was not enough, so I dragged myself to a nearby tree and tried to gather enough strength to go. As my luck would have it, it started raining hard, and the cover from the tree was barely enough to keep me dry. As I lie on the tree with fading consciousness, I see a girl running towards me; I try to get a grip, but even that fails me.

I awake. I don't know how long I was asleep, but I finally have gathered enough strength to get up off the bed I awoke in and try to walk out of this house.

"Wait, you can't leave; your wounds haven't fully healed." I turn around to see a girl with purple hair. I can't put into words how I felt at that moment, but all I can say is she was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. The wounds she was talking about were ones I recently acquired from my latest battle with Abel. Knowing I have no place getting help from other people, I leave, never to see that girl again. That was what I thought, but fate had a different idea. I fall to the floor and cough up blood; I guess I took more damage than I thought, and her healing the wounds relaxed them enough to reopen.

The girl helped me get back to the bed where I lay for the next three days. It's pitiful to be in this state. Having the power to do everything and nothing all at once. I try to gather my thoughts on how I ended up like this, but I draw a blank. Even with my eyes, I can see all, but I can't see the obvious. I try once more, but my train of thought is cut off by the girl. "It seems you're finally awake."

I look to my right and see her looking at me with curiosity."Why do you keep staring at me like that" I managed to muster with the strength I gathered. "You're an odd one. Every time I try to heal you further, my magic gets burned, and the heal stops. Do you not want to be healed?"

I feel my strength coming back; as to why I don't know, but I use this strength to reply. "My body can heal on its own. It doesn't need an external source of healing."

"If your body can heal itself, why are your wounds open?"

This girl is patronizing someone she has never met before. It made me wonder why my wounds haven't healed yet, but I was asked a question, so I need to reply, "My body probably doesn't feel like healing."

The girl gets up from her chair, walks over, and grabs my hand before saying, "If your body doesn't heal itself, let me help you."

For a dragon to feel hot means they are most likely going to die, but for me, I guess it means I fell in love. Feeling this, I grab her hand back and agree to her help.

With my help sharing my magic with her, I was fully healed within minutes. "You really healed all my wounds." I'm actually surprised because healing magic generally doesn't work on me. Since hers worked, it means hers is of the highest caliber.

The girl is out of breath; I guess she really needed my extra magic to finish my healing. I replenished most of her magic, and she thanked me. "Don't mention it. You helped me more anyway."

With my new strength, I go to leave, but the girl stops me. "Please don't go" her arms were wrapped around my waist, physically preventing me from leaving.

I turned to her and asked why but she wouldn't respond. I can see tears in her eyes. I didn't want to intrude in her mind, but she didn't leave me with a choice.

From what I gathered, I'm in a village with these 'cat' people, and Lilith is the outcast because of her hair color and her different type of magic. She had been ostracized by her own people because of her hair color and magic. This is what led me to not like the cat people that much.

I agreed to stay with her, and for five days, we talked and got to know each other. I found out her name was Lilith, and her magic was controlling the souls of any animal that let her. Eventually, Lilith and I left her house and went out to see the world.

I treasure these memories the most because that was a time in my life when I genuinely felt happy to be alive. Even now the memories I made with Lilith are the best times in my life. I hope these long years go by fast. If not my memories will keep me sane
