《The Devil's Parcel》Chapter 5: Proposal

Days after they departed from their home country of Angels Province, they reached the neighboring country of Sol. Sol is a country known for its architecture and corrupt government.
"We finally made it," Lillia said after laying down on her bed. The group stays at a hotel nearby the voting room, where all the chairmen gather every afternoon. The hotel also has a big enough pipeline so that the group can escape through the sewers.
Alastor gets up from his chair and asks Lilith if she wants to go around the capital and see what wonders they can find to which she agrees.
The couple walks around before Lilith brings up what happened at the lake. "You do know I trust you, right?"
"Hmmm?" Alastor says before remembering what happened at the lake, "Yea, I guess?"
"I don't mind that you are of dragonkin at all! I actually like that. But I know the others don't and don't worry, ill get them to apologize."
"It's not your problem if they don't like me or not. So it's better if you let them find out if they like me."
Alastor looks over his shoulder and sees a soldier "Hey Lilith."
"Yea?"
"Ima be right back."
"Ok"
Alastor walks up to the soldier a serious question, to which he gets a serious reply before walking back to Lilith.
"Well, what did you ask him?"
"I asked him how much trouble I would get into if I killed one of the chairmen and apparently not that much."
"Why would you ask that?!"
"While you were talking about things that didn't matter, I was looking around."
"Well, what did you see."
"Look for yourself, Lil. All of these people are suffering, and it's clear that their government is squeezing the country dry, causing the gap between commoners and the rich to increase. Even their own military doesn't care about their well-being if I didn't get arrested for threatening their government."

"But what does the government get by basically stealing the money of the people?"
"Other than making everything expensive, they look to most likely make their military stronger."
"But didn't you just say they didn't care about their government?"
"Yea, but look at the soldiers. They are clean compared to the rest of the people, and many people are signing up to be military officers. Not only that, but these people would most likely fight a war for their land, not even their government."
"Then why not just overthrow the government?"
"Don't forget they are just commoners. They probably don't have that much battle experience, nor do they have the magical capabilities to do so."
"So, what do we do?"
"We take over the nation and become its king and queen."
Lilith smacks Alastor, "You can't go around saying that in the streets and be serious."
"I am" Lilith has never seen Alastor with such a serious face, not even when he was about to fight the others or Gord.
"Don't we have to get married for me to be your queen?"
Alastor gets on his knee. "Lilith, will you marry me?"
Lilith's heart starts racing, and she gets hot in her face
"Are you serious?" Lilith said with genuine happiness
"Yes"
Lilith hugs Alastor and says she will
"Let's go tell the group that we're getting married, Alastor."
"They can't know about our plan to take this country."
"Why?"
"Stop asking questions and just trust me, Lil."
"Alright, I trust you."
The two return to their hotel room and begin planning with the group.
Benjamin was the first to speak, "How are we going to go on about this?"
"Instead of killing just one of the chairmen, we are going to crush the entire government."

Lilith, now confused, says, "You said we weren't going to tell them
"Yea, because if you told them, you would end up confusing them."
Alastor tells everyone the same thing that he told Lilith
"So you guys are going to rule this nation and set it free of its tyranny?" Lilla said after finally grasping all the details that were explained to her.
"Yes"
The group thinks for a minute before agreeing with Alastor
Alastor was reluctant to tell them a crucial detail, but now that they decided, he tells them, "Since we are going to be attacking the capital, there is a high chance reinforcements from our country are going to come and stop us."
"So well be fighting two fronts?"
"Yes, but to save the nation, we won't be killing any of the soldiers, only the main governmental body."
"I see," Leon says
"We will most likely be branded as traitors for fighting our own," said Benjamin
"But when we win, we can sign a treaty that clears your names" Alastor had clearly thought all of this out thoroughly.
"Arent you a little too confident, Alastor?"
"They will most likely send the big three, but I can take care of them. I've done it before."
"By the big three, you mean Mistress Amaya, Gord, and Samael."
"Yea"
"And you have fought the three of them?"
"Well, there were four of them."
Lilith looks at Alastor. "Wait. Don't tell me you're.."
"Exactly that, Lilith. I was the 'Evil' that clashed with them all that time ago. Don't worry, though."
"Why would we not worry? You are a villain," Leon said, trembling
"I'm only a villain if you only look at one side of the story."
Lilith looks at Alastor seriously, then says, "I trust you with all my heart still."
Lillia speaks up, "If Lilith trusts you, then I do too"
Both Benjamin and Leon agree with Lillia.
Alastor looks out the window and towards the people before saying, "I will save you."
*Back in Angel's Provinces capital*
"Mistress Amaya! You have to see this report."
Mistress Amaya's assistant hands her a report before going back to his desk. She looks at it then hurries to show Gord, "Look at this"
In his raspy voice, Gord replies, "I don't have time."
"It's Lilith, she's in Sol, and according to Greenville academy, she has a top-secret mission to Assassinate one of the chairmen."
Gord snatches the paper to see the photo of Lilith that was sent over. And it's a picture of Alastor proposing to her.
"This is bad. They are going to end up starting a head-on war from both sides."
"I know"
"Get Samael, we have to stop them before they start something they cant stop."
In truth, Gord knows Alastor can handle everything on his own, but he can't just sit around and let the others think he knows something.
Under his breath, he says, "Alastor, you better wrap things up quick before we have to fight another head-on battle."

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
