《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 49: Power of Destruction and Dragon Call

"I see, well I suppose that explains why you haven't contacted me in a while, so is there anything else you'd like to report?" Zulcrestus asked as he soared through the sky.
"Not really other than we're currently on the outskirts of Talkia, sensei," Charlotte said telepathically. Zulcrestus thanked Charlotte for the report before Charlotte ended the telepathic call.
"Heh, what a coincidence, you happen to be heading in that direction, am I right?" Hika snarkily asked whilst she layed on Zulcrestus' back.
"Indeed, however that guy Charlotte mentioned... ...," Zulcrestus said. Hiku looked upwards with a confused expression.
"The guy, Charlotte concluded must be an ally of The Phantom, that turned into a Heathian or the person who easily overpowered the Heathian?" Hika asked.
"Well, I probably should've asked Charlotte if the kitsune was a male or not, but the fact that the kitsune could easily overpower the Heathian and even referred to them as a Silhouette could..." Zulcrestus stated before he abruptly came to a stop and covered his face as a powerful migraine coursed through his head.
"Master Zu-" Hika managed to say, as she teleported to Zulcrestus' shoulder, before noticing Zulcrestus was lowing his hands.
"I'm fine, Hika, but it appears we have company," Zulcrestus commented as a flock of large purple birds, covered in feathers made of angorthite, descended and surrounded the duo. Hiku teleported on top of Zulcrestus' head and ducked behind one of his horns while peaking her head out to look at the heathian birds. The sinister-looking heathian birds unloaded a barrage of ear-piercing screams as one of them lunged at Zulcrestus.
"What a hassle," Zulcrestus murmured calmly as he firmly grasped the handle of Novathane.
"Close your eyes," Zulcrestus ordered; Hika aggressively closed her eyes in response to Zulcrestus as he lowered his body and donned an aggressive stance.
Within less than the blink of an eye, a blinding light of white and yellow engulfed the sky, with the sound of Novathane's sheath's air-tight guard latch clicking moments afterwards. As abruptly as it appeared, the light instantly died down and, with the instant Zulcrestus resheathed Novathane, all the heathian exploded into thousands of pieces

"How peculiar, it appears Novathane had some weird reaction to you using Light Dash, Master; I'll have to let mama know," Hika commented as her eyes flashed for a split second. Zulcrestus turned and glared at the falling heathian pieces, as purple blood spewed out of them.
"Didn't I tell you to close your eyes?" Zulcrestus asked callously. Hika attempted to respond before she abruptly ducked behind one of Zulcrestus' horns again; the heathian pieces started to shiver violently before purple crystals erupted from the heathian pieces and their blood.
"What a nuisance," Zulcrestus murmured as he raised his hand to the rapidly multiplying heathians. A dark transparent purple mana began to surround Zucrestus' body while mainly focusing around his outreached hand; Zulcrestus placed his middle finger and thumb together before snapping his fingers.
Meanwhile, Lola covered her ears and squirmed on top of Zalroth's tails, with the other girls watching her, while Zalroth's ears were sporadically twitching.
"Lola, what's wrong?!" Scarlett asked worryingly as she and the other girls looked over at Zalroth.
"Mr Zalroth, what's wrong with Lola?" Snow asked worriedly as Zalroth itched the inside of his ears.
"Just give it a sec," Zalroth remarked right before a loud ghostly reverb erupted from the distance and raced over the city, with everyone in the city covering their ears in an attempt to protect their hearing. The reverb slowly died down until it became a faint whisper.
"What was that?" Iris pleaded as she leaned in front of Zalroth's face.
"Maybe you should ask the tournament expert," Zalroth remarked as he rubbed his ears with a pained expression. Iris seemed perplexed by Zalroth's answer before realising he was referring to Kiki; Iris glanced behind herself and noticed the starry-eyed Kiki, as she was ecstatically mumbling to herself.
"OMG-OMG-OMGs, that was the signature move of all the god of death's, and destruction, reincarnations, the Echoing Destruction Flare. That means the greatness that is Magistrate Zulcrestus is at least four hundred kilometres away," Kiki uncontrollable announced as she started to make weird noises.

"Talk about a super fan girl," Iris joked as she looked forwards again.
"She wouldn't be the only one," Zalroth added as he looked around at the zombie residents who were also uncontrollably geeking out at the prospect of Zulcrestus attending or even just watching the Maxicannion Tournament. Iris' awkwardly closed her eyes and defeatedly layed her face in Zalroth's hair.
Meanwhile, Callie was sleeping in an airship bedroom, which had all of her candy cat merch from her previous airship bedroom, while wearing nothing but her large black t-shirt and strongly strangling her large fluffy Straw Cat plushie(the large red) with a bear hug.
"Zuzu~," The sleeping Callie giddily mumbled to herself as the lenses of her steampunk goggles located on top of her nightstand began to slowly flash and beep. The relentless beeping eventually managed to awaken Callie into a semi-conscious state before she haphazardly reached over her Straw Cat plushie in a feeble attempt to grab her goggles.
Her body slowly inched over the plushie until only her legs were over the plushie; she was finally able to grab the goggles before immediately falling out of her bed and onto another large Straw Cat plushie laying on the floor.
"Accept," Callie mumbled in an attempt to make the beeping stop; the beeping and flashing ceased and Hika popped out from one of the goggle's lenses. She looked around and noticed the half-awake Callie with her chin pressed against the floor.
"Is... now a bad time, mama?" Hika asked with a worried tone and expression.
"Of course not, Sugar Sparks, I just woke up before you tried to call is all," Callie explained as she made no attempt to hide the fact she was lying; however, Hika full-heartedly believed Callie and gave a happy nod.
"Oh ok; well, I've come to tell you Master Zulcrestus found a weird magical reaction between Novathane and his Light Dash; I also sent a detailed report and a video of it to the Zi-Net
for you to check out," Hika happily explained, with Callie nodding her head as she listened to Hika's explanation.
"Okay but there's one thing I'd like to say," Callie said lazily. Hika tilted her head with a goofily shocked expression.
"Didn't I tell you to stop calling Zuzu Master Zulcrestus?". Hika tilted her head in response to Callie's question.
"Master Zuzu?" Hika offered, but Callie shook her head.
"Pa...pa Zuzu?" Hika asked as she nervously scratched her head, as one of her eyes started to glitch out. Callie thought about it and nodded her head, which made Hika sigh in relief before making a confused expression again when she remembered she didn't have lungs. There was a knock on the door which made Callie and Hika glance over at the bedroom door.
"Callie are you awake, I know I send it would be ok for you to sleep in until we were about an hour away from Raidenfall but I think you need to see this," Echo explained.
"Yeah I'm up I'll be there in a sec," Callie mumbled as she sat up with Hika teleporting onto and sitting on Callie's shoulder. Echo chuckled to herself as she went to walk away.
"Well, you better hurry or you're going to miss the giant dragon," Echo cheekily snarked before walking off.
"A large dragon, could it be a dragon lord?!" Hika enthusiastically shouted before teleporting away. Callie slowly stood up while rubbing her baggy eyes and yawning; it was mid-yawn that Callie fully registered what Echo, and Hika, had said and her eyes widened.
"Wait a dragon lord?!" Callie blurted out before racing over to her wardrobe and putting on her lab coat attire; Callie placed her steampunk goggles on her forehead before dashing out of the bedroom.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
