《The Tale of A Fortunate Slave》Wake Up Call

Lucy's POV. What's this? A POV chapter that's not Ash's? What a surprise!

I woke to the sound of Ash's hell-spawn-alarm, it is silenced almost immediately. As I remove my hand from the top of that thing from hell I remember the events of last night. I look down to see a sleeping Kitsune nuzzling herself into my side. Cute! I think to myself. Why is everything she does so darn adorable? Wait I need to wake her up. I give the fox a little shake. "Wakie wakie, it's time to get up~" I say but to no avail as she just holds onto me more and buries her head in the blankets. And all I do is let out a sigh. "Wake up wake up it's tame to wake up!~" I sing.

"Hhnnn." She groans as she nuzzles my neck. "Mmmnn."

"You need to get up at some point." I'm starting to get annoyed. "Come on, wake up."

"Noooo." She speaks, half asleep. "I don't want to."

"It's eight in the morning." I say. "You're going to miss breakfast."

She sticks her head out from the covers. "But you're warm." She pouts.

"Ash." I say as I brush her hair with my fingers. "You need to get up if you want a hamburger."

"Fine." She releases me from her grasp. "Need anything?"

"No." I say as I head to my room to get ready. "Are you feeling better?"

She signed, she's always like this one moment she talks the next she's using sign language.

"Ok." I say as I've gotten used to her ways. "Just go get yourself ready."

Thirty minutes later and we were in the dinning hall. We had taken the same table as usual, the one we sat at when we first met. Though soon after we sat down Mercy spotted us and sat with us.

Once we finished our breakfast Ash had another meeting with Mom. "Why do you think she has so many meetings with Mom?" I asked Mercy as we got up. "I think it has to do with her being your bodyguard. She needs proper training and armor and weapons." Was the reply she gave me.

"Yeah but she should be able to do that in her free time." I say. "She does have a lot of that."

"She does. But she still needs a proper teacher." Mercy said wile looking out the windows in the halls. "You just need to be patient."

"I know. But the waiting going to kill me at some point." I complain. "I just don't know what to do."

"You could ask her why." Mercy says. "And she's still a little malnourished so it's going to take a while for her to get some muscle on her."

"She's still malnourished?" I ask. "She seems fine to me. And getting better too."

"Yes she is." Mercy says while opening a door for me. "She just needs to work out and eat, then she's going to be heather than you."

"Ouch." A blue light says. "Don't burn the Princess, Mercy."

"Oh, hey Luna. Where you going with all that?" I ask the Fay that's over-encumbered with paper.

"The Queen asked for these documents." The light behind the paper said. "Something to do with armor and Ash. After I deliver these I'm going to have to get the head-smith."

"Need any help with that?" Mercy questions. "Or are you ok?"

"A little help would be appreciated." Luna offers some paper to Mercy who just takes the whole stack. "Thank you, that was getting heavy."

"Where should I take these?" The maid asked. "You mentioned the Queen but where is she?"

"In the courtyard." Luna gave the answer. "You can come too, Princess."

"I would like that." I say. "Just lead the way."

The three of us found our way to the courtyard. Mom was sitting in the shade while Ash was swinging at the air? Why is she here?

"Oh! Hey y'all!." Mom shouts as we drew near. "It's nice to see you two."

"Here are the documents you asked for." The Fay gestured at the paper that Mercy put on the table. "There all there."

"What is Ash doing?" I ask. "Is she trying to kill the air?"

Mom laughs. "No, she's not trying to kill the air. She's training like I told her to."

"That's training?" Mercy asked my question. "Wouldn't it be better if she had a proper teacher?"

"She needs to start some where." The Queen answers. "Swinging at the air at first was how I was trained. And a few years later I unified the Queendom."

"She has a point." Luna said as she summed a few new chairs. "You need to start from somewhere. That goes for everything."

"True but it's still weird." I speak as I take a seat. "How long will it take?"

"With her? It could be a few months to a year and a half." Mom states as she take a sip from her drink. "She is already a very high Level for her age."

"So she could be done soon?" I ask and Mom nods her head as she sifts through the papers. "That's good."

"Hey! Ash could you come over here?!" Mom calls out to person swinging away. Ash drops the wooden sword almost instantly and runs over. "What do you think of this?" Mom points to one of the papers. Ash shakes her head and points to another part of the same paper. "This one? Ok. Now get back to swinging."

"What was that for?" I ask.

"I needed her to pick some form of armor." Mom explains. "And that's what she just did." I make an 'oh' face as I turn to watch Ash 'train'.

Not too long after the sun starts to set as we had been there for hours just talking and having a few snacks, even if it was nearing the end of fall.
