《The Diamonds》Abigail's New Boyfriend

{Ron}

The next morning I woke up holding Abigail in my arms. I still had my shirt off and I felt comfortable with Abigail's head on my chest. It seemed to me that when I hold Abigail in my arms she sleeps peacefully and doesn't wake up freaking out.

A couple days ago, Abigail woke up freaking out and I wondered if she had a memory of the battle at Shaw Castle because of what she went through. I swore to myself now that she's talked about it with me that I would keep this information a secret. I wouldn't be able to tell Abigail's twin brother Simon about this. It has to be her choice on who she wants him to know about what happened to her.

To me, Abigail's probably the best Agent in the Diamond Division. I mean she stopped a war single handedly! Not to mention, Dr. Crow's agents called her the fiercest Diamond Warrior ever. I think Patty knows more than what she's putting out. But if there's information that's classified, and she can't tell us about it, I totally understand and I'm pretty sure all of the other agents understand that too.

I didn't want to disturb Abigail's slumber but then the alarm clock went off. Abigail's eyes slowly opened and she smiled at me.

"Good morning Abigail," I said.

"Good morning Mr. Six-Pack," Abigail teased.

I snorted. "Yeah sure Abigail, my Diamond Warrior or should I just call you, Super Agent?"

Abigail laughed. "Super Agent? Seriously? If you say so."

"You know what I think?" I asked.

"What?" Abigail said.

"I think this means I win," I chuckled.

Abigail tilted her head. "Win what?"

"Asher and I had a competition to see who can win you over first," I said. "So I think it's safe to say I won. But the other part of the rules is that the person who gets a date with you wins."

"Oh really?" Abigail responded. "Yeah, you won, I mean we made out before we went to sleep, so yeah you won."

I chuckled, "Yeah I guess you're right. Asher's not going to be happy when he finds out."

"I could care less if Asher's happy with me or not," Abigail said. "He should be able to pick up on a hint that I don't like him. I mean seriously, I did a friendly fire on the guy during laser tag just to get away from him."

I smiled. "Yeah I saw that. Too bad I didn't get a chance to record Asher's expression when you ran from him."

"Yeah," Abigail said. She stretched. "We should probably get dressed so we can go report and see if we have any assignments to go on."

I nodded. I left Abigail's room so I could go get changed. As I was going to go report to see if I had an assignment for the day, I ran into Asher and he didn't look happy.

I raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"You're playing fair, you know," Asher growled.

"I'm not playing fair?" I said. "Like you were playing fair at laser tag?"

"I saw you go into Abigail's room. That's two nights in a row!" Asher said. "Just what are you trying to pull?"

"Excuse me," I heard Simon snapped, "I don't know what you were seeing Asher, but Ron's not trying to pull anything."

Asher snarled, "How do you know?"

"Because I saw Abigail pull Ron into her room willingly." Simon said. "You know you can't take Abigail by force right? It's very clear to me that she likes Ron and not you. Now that you think about it, Abigail runs every time you come around the corner. If that's not dropping a hint, I don't know what is."

Asher groaned, "Ugh."

"Exactly what are you guys fighting about?" Abigail asked. "Gee, our workday hasn't even started and you guys are already at each other's throats? Wow."

"Asher's not happy that he saw Ron go into your room two nights in a row," Simon chuckled.

Abigail stuck out her tongue. "Yeah and it's safe to say Ron wins!"

Asher rolled his eyes and we went to report to work.

* * *

After we reported for work there was a message that played over the intercom: "Agents being sent out on missions are as follows: Agent Silver, Agent Shadow, Agent Ruby, Agent Red and Agent White, Agent Blue.

"Agents that will be on call- Agent Black, Agent Purple, Agent Magenta, Agent Gray, Agent Snowy, Agent Blue Topaz.

"Would the agents being sent out on missions please report to the main conference room to receive your assignments. That is all."

Asher smiled at the announcement. "Works for me! That means I have more chances to win you over Abigail."

Abigail did a facepalm and groaned, "No thanks, I'm not interested."

"Maybe a candle light dinner will change your mind?" Asher asked.

Abigail gagged. "No thanks."

I chuckled at Abigail's response to Asher asking her out. She smiled at me and kissed me right in front of Asher.

"Face it Asher," Abigail said, "Mr. Six-Pack here is my boyfriend and you're not! So get over yourself."

I felt my face turn red in embarrassment so I looked away. Simon fell over and he was on the ground rolling on his stomach in laughter. After a while, Simon got to his feet and it looked like he was going to burst into laughter again at a moment's notice.

"Aww, I think you made Mr. Six-Pack embarrassed by his new pet name you gave him Abigail," Simon teased.

"Okay," I said, "let's go get our assignment Simon."

Simon nodded. "Okay then, I'm right behind you!"

* * *

When I got to the main conference Simon was pulled in there with me. Awesome! I haven't worked with Simon on a mission in a while or at least I hope that's what this means.

Patty smiled at us. "In case you're wondering, yes you two will be going on a mission together."

Before I could stop myself I cheered, "Yes!"

Simon chuckled, "Wow, you just can't stop at giving a lot of comedy today huh?"

When I realized I just cheered about us going out on a mission together, I gave a bashful smile. "Oh."

"So what's the comedy about?" Patty asked.

"Well, Abigail called Ron Mr. Six-Pack kissed him in front of Asher and then declared him her boyfriend," Simon said.

"Well it's about damn time you two got together!" Patty said.

Once again, I felt my face turn red so I looked away. It's a good thing Simon was leaning up against a wall this time because he started laughing again. At this point, I wanted to find the nearest desk and hide underneath it.

"Oh Ron," said Patty, "there's no need to be embarrassed although if Simon would stop laughing that would help."

"I'm sorry Patty!" Simon said. "It's just way too funny! Okay, okay, I'm done laughing, for now…"

Patty nodded, "Good you might want to keep it that way and flip your attitude into serious mode. This mission I'm sending you on, you're going to need your keys I gave you. It's a good thing I ordered you to keep them with you. I see you're wearing them around your necks now and that's good."

Patty then started up the computer screen from the big computer and the first picture on it was a picture of a ruby statue. "This is one of the Ruby Statues that I have been sending different agents to retrieve. There's four Ruby Statues in total. So far we've only been able to retrieve one of them. It seems that Dr. Crow's been able to hide the other three statues somehow. Agent Black was after one of them and she got captured. That's why I sent in Agent Dawn to rescue her."

"Oh," I said.

Patty pressed a button and it flipped to another picture. It was a picture of Dr. Crow and what he looked like. He was an older man and he wore a black suit with black dress pants, black dress shoes and he had a white shirt underneath his suit jacket. It looked like he was either going to a wedding or a funeral. But my guess was that this was what he chose to wear on a daily basis unless he was visiting his prisoners or something like that.

Thing that made Dr. Crow's wicked smile really creepy was that he had a scar on his face that was on the right side of his face that started at his eye and went down to his chin. That smile of his made a chill go down my spine.

"Yeah I know, he's creepy isn't he Ron?" Patty noted. "Anyway, wherever Dr. Crow is, more than likely you'll find the Ruby Statue that I'm sending you two after. Maybe you'll find all three of them, I have no idea."

Patty flipped to another picture. It was a picture of a regular building. It looked like a mattress store. The building was a brick building with clear glass windows that showed different types of beds so people could look in and see if the store had what they wanted to buy.

I rolled my eyes at this. Of course, why wouldn't Dr. Crow disguise his secret lair as a harmless mattress store? Yup, perfect cover.

I looked over to see Patty and Simon rolling their eyes at how Dr. Crow disguised his secret lair too.

"As you can see," said Patty, "this is another one of Dr. Crow's lair's. It's disguised as a mattress store so the government won't take notice of what's really going on. Well the joke's on him. Because once you two retrieve the Ruby Statue, we need you to put this place to rest so to speak."

"'Ba dum tss'," Simon laughed.

Patty snorted. "Yeah I know. Hey, that's what the higher up's put in the file for me to tell you. It looks like they do have a sense of humor after all!" She said with sarcasm. "Yay!"

Patty's sarcasm got a snicker out of Simon and I.

"Okay, you two have your assignments so it's time for you two to head out," Patty commanded.

"Yes ma'am!" Simon and I said.

As we headed to change our clothes to show that we were headed out on an assignment, I wondered how Abigail was going to deal with Asher getting on her nerves while I was gone. Either way, what I wanted to do was do my job so I could return to Abigail.

{Abigail}

I couldn't wait for Ron to get back from his mission. I hoped he would be safe but I knew I probably shouldn't worry so much about that because he's not an idiot like Asher is. So while I'm on call I could do three things and I have a choice in the matter. The first thing I can do is my substitute assignment. Ron's substitute assignment is weapons tech.

Another thing I could do while I'm on call is to sit at a desk and fill out stupid paperwork. The paperwork doesn't even look important to me. But if the higher ups in The Diamond Division wanted it done, then it must be for a good reason right?

The third thing I could do is meaningless tasks around the building like take out the trash, sweep the floors stupid things like that all the way down to cleaning cars.

Naturally I prefer to do my substitute assignment and it works perfect for me considering I have a hard time sitting still. My substitute assignment is to train other agents on their hand to hand combat skills. Sometimes agents will come to my class to keep up with their training when they're not on missions. Most of the time I have new agents that need to know how to get out of a sticky situation when they're in a fight.

I have no idea what Asher does when he's not out on missions and I don't care. As long as whatever he does is far away from me.

When I work my substitute assignment, I have normal work hours. They are Monday- Friday 9am- 11PM. Okay, so maybe not normal hours but hey, at least I get a break for a meal without having to worry about getting a message on where to go next.

As I headed over to my substitute assignment, Asher stopped me out in the hallway.

I groaned, "What do you want Asher?"

"What I want to know is what does Ron have that I don't have?" Asher asked. "What do I have to do to change your mind about me? At least give me a chance instead of running away from me all the time."

I blinked. I had no idea what to say to Asher. For once in his life he wasn't being arrogant or full of himself.

"Have you hit your head on something Asher?" I asked. "Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm feeling fine Abigail," Asher replied. "I just… I just don't get it. All I've ever wanted was for you to notice me. I mean, I think I'm quite a catch."

"Well…" I said. I tried to figure out how to tell him what I thought about him by being nice. I didn't like Asher mostly because he wasn't my type of guy. He was arrogant, rude and full of himself. True, he was handsome on the outside but on the inside to me it wasn't a pretty picture. Guys like him always turned me off.

I shifted on my feet, Crap I hate when stuff like this happens! Why me?

"Well? Can you tell me what it is?" Asher asked. He paused. "I get it you're trying to figure out a way to say what you think of me without being mean, am I right?"

I bit my bottom lip. Then I let out a slow breath, "Listen Asher, you're just not my type. You're arrogant and you can be pretty rude most of the time especially with your sexist comments about women. A good example, the fact that women shouldn't be working as agents because they're weaker. Yup, that makes you a good catch alright."

"I don't think comments like that are rude," said Asher. "I was just stating the facts."

"Yeah they are rude, so what do you think about me?" I said. "I'm a woman and I'm a DA and to add to that I'm in the number one rank in this division. So tell me something Asher, do I make your 'facts' correct? What about all of the other women that are top ranking agents that are DA's, hmm? Or are women only good for being cooks in a kitchen, a desk job, or barefoot and pregnant?"

Asher's jaw dropped at my reasoning. "I don't think you're not a good DA. No you don't meet the standard of my statements at all. I don't mean for any women to be offended by my statements. I'm just-"

"Stating the facts?" I snapped. "Uh-huh sure you are! Hey, I'm being nice about this at the moment but I'd like to see you go up to any other woman that's a DA and state your 'facts' to them. I wonder how they're going to feel about that? Listen, if you want to be with someone who is a DA you might want to tone those types of statements down."

Asher looked away, it seemed as if my response to him made him somewhat embarrassed. "Oh, I see, well thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll work on it."

I was getting ready to respond when I paused. "Did you just say you're going to work on it?"

Asher nodded. "Yup! I'm going to work on changing my attitude so that way you might change your mind about me."

"Well don't do it just to get at me," I said. "Do it because you really want to be a better person in general. You might not be able to win my heart over but you'll be able to snag someone else that likes the way you are."

I looked down at my watch and it signaled it was time for me to clock in at my substitute assignment. "I better go or I'm going to be late."

{Ron}

I felt kind of awkward going into a mattress store where an evil villain has his lair disguised as. Well, here goes nothing. I wonder if they'll be able to tell if I'm a DA or not? Because I don't have the signature brooch on my shirt to show that I am one.

I felt Simon clap me on the back. "Let's do this!"

I nodded. We entered the store and looked like regular customers. We pretended to look around when a store employee came up to us.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" The employee was a young woman that had blonde hair and green eyes. She would be what Simon considers a bombshell aka a sexy woman. She was skinny and wore blue jeans along with a tan t-shirt which I'm going to assume was the employee uniform. Not to mention, her boobs were a little bit more than average size there was no hiding those big honkers. This type of woman didn't really interest me at all.

My kind of woman is strong and fast and a quick thinker. Not just beautiful on the outside but beautiful on the inside. I also prefer women that are a little bit shorter than me. This woman stood at least about six feet tall which is the same height as Tammy.

I stand about five foot and nine inches. Abigail is the perfect size for me, not to mention she meets everything on my checklist on what I look for in a woman. Abigail stands at exactly, five foot and one inch. She's fit and strong and beautiful on the inside and out.

Anyway, back to the woman that was an employee that approached us. The name on her shirt said, 'Stacy'. When she smiled at us, Simon whistled at her. I wanted to do a facepalm and groan at Simon's reaction to Stacy but I held myself back from doing so.

"Well now, uh Stacy right?" Simon said with a flirting smile.

Stacy giggled, "Yup, that's my name, now how can I help you?"

"You can help me find the right mattress, and you can also help me by letting me buy you dinner," Simon replied.

Stacy blushed and then giggled again. "I uh, as you can see I'm working at the moment but I get off at six pm as far as dinner goes. Now as far as the right mattress goes, what type of mattress are you after?"

At first I thought this display of flirting was just outright stupid. But then I changed my mind about it because this would be the perfect distraction for me to sneak around and find the entrance to Dr. Crow's lair.

I tapped Simon on the shoulder. "Uh Simon? Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Simon nodded. We went off to the side and I whispered into his ear. "Normally I find your flirting with someone stupid but I think this is the perfect opportunity for me to figure out where Dr. Crow's lair is."

Simon smiled. "Oh I get it. I distract the beautiful employee and you go take care of business. Just send me the signal if you get into trouble, okay?"

I nodded. Simon went back to Stacy and struck up a conversation with her again. "So Stacy I'm thinking about this type of mattress over here…"

Right when Simon said that, he made sure to bring Stacy to look at a mattress at the far corner of the store. He made sure to get Stacy's back turned away from me. I sneaked around to the back of the store and made like I was looking at the different accessories that went with a bedroom set. I looked around and spotted the backroom that was supposed to be the stockroom. Bingo! If the lair is where I think it is then finding it should be easy. I wonder if there's an extra employee's uniform in the backroom?

I went into the backroom and spotted an employee uniform that was just my size. Bingo, again! Today's my lucky day! This is almost too easy! Unless… Damn it all to fucking hell!

I realized that as soon as I spotted the backroom and the employee uniforms, there were several sets of employee uniforms. It almost looked like Dr. Crow was expecting DA's to come looking for this hideout of his. That's why it was so easy to get to the backroom and get a uniform to disguise yourself as an employee. Of course Dr. Crow would think of this! I bet that as soon as I stepped through the doors two of his agents are there ready to capture me. Okay, I got the uniform on so it's time for plan B! I already have the uniform on, so maybe I can act like a new employee and find the boss of this 'mattress store' and make it like it's my first day of work. Then I can find some other way to enter the lair.

So I did exactly what I thought to do. When Simon saw me come out to the front of the store, he raised an eyebrow at me. I gave him a hand signal to let him know that everything was okay. Simon shrugged and went back to his conversation with Stacy.

I found the manager's office and knocked on the door. My eyes went wide when I saw who the manager was. It was none other than Dr. Crow himself.
