《Dungeon of books》Doppelrat - Chapter 21

Pov - Umbra
I move my consciousness away from my lovely creation. It was the only true success that has happened. Since I am going through all my recent creations, I should move to the last one. I let out a long-drawn-out mental sigh. My final creature is a creature that I did not make, I found it. I found it during my Rat King experiments, due to the fact that it did not follow the Rat King's orders as every other rat did. This did not draw my attention at first, but after a bit, it finally did draw my attention when it used its ability for once. The rat right in front of my eyes just split in four. No, not bisected, but quadruple, each being identical to the original rats. Now, this caught my attention.
First I captured the strange rat, this included its clones because I did not know if they could split again. I’m glad I did because not 10 mins later it quadruples again, not just the original but also all the clones. My mouth fell open at the sheer overpoweredness that ability can exhibit if left alone. So obviously I killed all the clones so that there is less chance of one escaping and causing a massive problem in the plane. I would have to send Fus to kill it, which would be a waste. If I can learn how to recreate the ability, I can create some devastating creatures.
Speaking of Fus killing mistakes, I've been sending him on several missions recently. At first, I thought this would be a terrible idea because they might try to rebel once knowing my identity, but to my surprise, Fus thought of these missions as a divine quest that he must complete. Fus’s quests include but are not limited to killing a wyvern, killing a wyrm, killing a lesser drake, killing a lesser Lindworm, and finally killing a lesser Amphiptere. All were because of me wanting to try to find the limits of my [Monster Creation] ability. Fus also tried and failed to kill the Lower Abyss Entity, the fight was interesting though. This is because Lower Abyss Entity had the ability to erase its presence in existence. It is hard to describe what it feels like to have the feeling that something there was missing. Fus did not seem to get this feeling, so I attributed the feeling to [Domain Sense], but after that interesting development, all that happened was that Fus got beat around like a pinball, barely being able to escape. While a Drakekin that somehow learned how to use healing magic was healing Fus, I could hear Fus vowing vengeance on the Lower Abyssal Entity.

Back to the duplicating rat. I was overjoyed at its discovery and wonder what type of creatures I could create with the rat’s ability. So focused on daydreaming about the creatures I could make with the ability, I failed to think about how the rat did it. So when I immediately open [Monster Creation] trying to put one of my concept monsters in, it failed. This left me in bewilderment, wondering why did I fail. I'm ashamed to admit, it honestly took me an hour to realize that I didn't even know how the duplication ability even worked. So I brought up the status to see if I can gain even the slightest insight.

Arcane Doubling Lv. Max
Doppeling Disease Lv. 1
So it is called a Doopplrat, interesting. Its stats are average, but what really catches my interest is the skill. The first skill is quite blatant in what it does, but the second skill [Doppepling Disease] is confusing. I wonder, is it like the plague or does it give people the [Arcane Doubling] skill. There are just too many questions and not enough answers… Fuck, I scream in my mind! I'm so fucking stupid, I can’t believe I forgot that you can check the skill description! I was taught this on day one, and I forgot! Not only that, but I am so angry at myself, that I feel like I’ll have to buy insurance on the metaphysical wall I have been pounding my head into. I’ll just check the damn description, still can’t believe I forgot about it.
Skill
Doppepling Disease
[Passive]
Once bit by this creature, it gives the target Doppepling Disease.
This Disease makes the target grow a clone. The doppeling process leaves the diseased creature incapacitated, unable to move, and barely able to speak.

The clone made is able to be controlled by the originating creature.
That's disgusting… and beautiful! This is an amazing Disease, not only does it get the ability to make a clone of someone, that clone is even under their control. I will take a quick guess and say that this ability will not work on high-level people. Mostly because the skill is level 1 and the system would put a restriction on the overpowered ability, at least I hope because if the system allowed this without restrictions. That means the system does not put restrictions on other overpowering abilities like Instant death or Petrifying glare. Let's hope the system isn't that stupid to not put restrictions on things.
While I had my consciousness in front of the Doppelrat. I began to think about what I know of the rat, which is nothing. I have been reminiscing for too long! Furthermore, I need to get back to working on solving mysteries. It is just so difficult to continue on a path that you keep falling off. I took in a mental breath, then let it out. I know I must work, but even so, it is always grinding at me.
I bring my full focus onto the Doppelrat. This time I did not look at the abilities of the rat, but at the rat itself. The Doppelrat is a white rat with a slash of black on its underbelly. The rat’s cage is made of the magic metal I found in the depths of the mines. This is caused by the ambient Mana in the area increasing.
I found out relatively quickly that the plane can produce Mana for the inhabitants to live on. The plane also seems to grow in strength with the power of its inhabitants. The plane itself also seems to have some rudimentary sapiens, but it is not that developed. It appears to have a different way of thinking than I. It did also seem to get the idea of ‘deeper in the mines, the stronger the foes’. So the plane put some sort of Mana well at the fortress within the mines. Fus also took it upon himself to guard the Mana well. I believe he was saying, “This power is a gift to us from the plane, so I as its guardian will guard this point of convergence.” Man, he is so dramatic.
I was about to continue my almost chaotic pattern of thoughts when I felt a presence enter the hallway that led down to my Library. With giddy joy, I move my consciousness at blazing speed to them, overexcited by the prospect of someone finally exploring my dungeon. When I arrive, though, I find some level 30ish people. There are 5 people with one being a swordsman, another being a Rogue, the third one being a Tank with a large plate shield, the fourth being some sort of Spellcaster, and finally, the 5th being the Priestess that I've been seeing around. All of this just gets me wondering why the Priestess left her original party, or was she brought into the group temporarily.
Well, whatever time to wake Akasha! When I move my mind to where Akasha was previously sleeping. I find her back, deciphering my Core book.

The Long and Exciting Life of Kreet the Kobold (Life 1)
This is a coming-of age story of a kobold, set in a rather generic D&D universe. It is adult in that it certainly touches upon some sexuality, but it is far, far from anything that might be considered porn. It is ultimately a tragedy, but so is life. That doesn't mean it has to end badly, just that it has to end.
