《Heaven of the Dream Fantasy - Going for a pacifist record》Chapter 28: Independent grinding
Advertisement
Dismantler Shadyna is on overdrive!
There's no problem with metal, but I have nowhere near enough beasts' materials to craft. Sure, I can make it all metal, but the results won't be as strong.
For now, I just craft gear around as strong as the ones given to Hessy, then give it to and . They will go out to extermin… acquire more materials in the area.
As for myself, I built another dismantling tent next to a small pond.
I should be watching over them? Seriously? They are decimating everything before any creature could get near them! Even if the enemy is aggressive, a full volley from will vaporize it. In the rare case that she misses, will pummel the poor thing in close range.
Most of the time they just time the attacks to grind [Alpha Strike Power] though. These girls are scary…
A pacifist like me have no place there. Besides, I won't be with them all the time, so it's better to have to train independently early, un.
Now then, let's fish!
Yes, I haven't had time to fiddle with fishery. Currently there're few water bodies in the world, so [Fishing] is of little use…
…Can I hope for some overlooked abuse potential here?
_ Shadyna: [Refinery]!!!
…Ah, sad face, this skill creates a crafting sphere like [Dismantling], so I cannot use an excavator to dig up the fish…
Even though I unlocked it by dynamite fishing…
[Received Mossy Golden Fish x1]
[Received Mossy Silver Fish x1]
[Received Mossy Box x1]
[Received Mossy Golden Fish x1]
…
As long as I keep working on the sphere, I will get fish rapidly. And I do mean rapidly. What the heck is this mountain of fish that just spawned into my inventory?!
Must have been the 800 attributes. Whoops~
I didn't miss the box, I just don't want to question how that thing is even a possible [Fishing] result! This is a pond! There is no wave to push it around to get stuck in my virtual non-existent hook!!!
Let's see how I can eat the fish first, to organize my inventory.
While each skill yields different items depending on the area, in general they have good and bad points.
You don't get many [Cooking] materials from [Mining], or equipment/building stuff from [Farming]. [Dismantling] is where you can get everything in every crafting skill, but you need to, well, murder something to use it.
…Ironically, my acquaintances mostly depend on me for the [Dismantling]! Is this karma?! Is this Sateri's plot to troll me again?!
Then again, I have lots of items from [Mining] and [Farming], but they are in no way outstanding compared to what you can buy from the marketplace. If I want people to notice these two skills of mine, I will have to flood the market with overly cheap items…
Un, let's not. and are probably mad enough as it is, even though I haven't done anything to them (directly)!
At a glance, [Fishing] probably has a lot of overlaps with [Farming]. Both give food-related items, with [Farming] requiring space (to plant trees) while [Fishing] mostly requiring time (to work on it constantly).
I have no shortage of farming space thanks to the (not so) secret base. Doesn't that make [Fishing] kind of useless for me…?
In that case, let's find a way to abuse it until Sateri snaps and decides to nerf me again! Yes, I noticed the nerfs on [Alchemy] and [Cooking]. Not that it mattered much since I got 800 attributes to compensate. What the heck was that all about, Sateri…
By the way, the fish aren't delicious raw. Yuck!
I had to try it because some items have non-skill special effects, like the good old [Begi] bulbs. Those explosive plants have been in my inventory even though my firepower is off the charts now. Can never have too many explosions!
Back to the fish. They give a small attribute buff as food. Nothing weird as far as I'm aware.
Let's try opening the box then!
[Received Mossy Rock x1]
…Whose idea was it to put a rock into a box?! Immersion 0/10 unrealistic!!!
At least fish are not the only things you will get from [Fishing]. You'll get trashes as well.
Also, the box disappears after usage. Hmm… No, I am not going to eat the rock. Even if I have the STR to crush the rock into fine sand with my teeth…
I can try using [Cooking] on it with the fish though!
_ Shadyna: [Creation]!!!
[Received Mossy Crushed Rocks with Fish Bones x1]
What the heck am I doing…
More importantly, why is it even allowed?! Back then I tried to make potions from [Grass] and it wasn't possible!
_ Shadyna: [Creation]!
[Received Grass Oil x1]
WHY?!
_ Shadyna (PM): Hessy~, I am crafting items I wasn't able to before. Do you know why?
_ Hessy (PM): What the hell are you up to again… I don't know, to be honest. You can craft anything as long as the materials and resulting item are valid…
_ Shadyna (PM): Hmm~ Alright, I'll break physics for a bit and report back to you!
_ Hessy (PM): You are not even hiding that anymore aren't you?!
I am not getting new titles, so I doubt it's so game-breaking. Weird as the rock fish meal is, it's still giving food buff.
Even the bed wasn't a thing until lately so it's understandable. Sateri can't just create new items with exotic effects out of thin air after all…
First things first: Find a way to get even more fish without spending hours sitting at the shore. To find abus… mechanic gimmicks, abundance of materials is required so I can experiment without restraints!
…Sigh, guess "that" is inevitable isn't it? The skill that I thought I could get away with. [Mining] by explosion, [Dismantling] capped by corpse amount, and [Farming] capped by number of trees in the base…
Damn it I don't want to use [Mass Refinery]!!! I haven't even made a skill stacking set for it! My productivity will be so bad with only the base skill level which completely defeats the purpose of using a [Mass] skill in the first place!
Okay, prejudice is bad. It will limit my options… Let's give [Mass Refinery] a try first…
_ Shadyna: [Mass Refinery].
A small ring appears around me. Is this the range indicator of the skill?
How does that work with [Fishing] anyway? Do you get more fish if there's more water inside your range?
[Received Mossy Silver Fish x1]
Yup, still fish. Nothing to see here folks.
As expected of level 0, the radius is small…
Grinding two skills is a pain. Grinding two combination skills is going to be many times the pain. Hard pass!
And so, DEX gear on! [Cooking], full DEX and WIT ahead! [Potential Manifest], just do what you normally do! Now there should not be any problem with speed whatsoever!
_ Shadyna: [Refinery], go~!
[Received Mossy Golden Fish x1]
[Received Mossy Silver Fish x1]
[Received Mossy Golden Fish x1]
…The message log has been overrun!!!
I underestimated the power of my own speed! My inventory has become a fish storage after a few seconds of [Refinery]!
…Is the balance going to be alright with this? I feel like the attributes are too OP in large amount. Then again, I doubt many players reach the level of my attributes…
Advertisement
Oh well, let's leave the balancing to Sateri. My job is to abu… take advantage of whatever mechanics available!
Because I am not going to eat all of the fish, I dump them back into the lake. The fish items disappear as soon as they touch the water surface. Guess a lake filled with dead fish is not really immersive. Moreover, I have a feeling that if the items remain, they will take a larger volume than the lake itself.
Physics in this game has it rough huh…
I kept all the boxes, since I do not know what I am going to get from them. Most likely more trash to clean up, but worth a try right?
[Teleport]!
Back to base, grab the LCK gear, [Teleport]!
…Might as well bring all the sets next time, considering how I am switching gears every five minutes.
_ Shadyna: Open~!
[Received Mossy Rock x1]
[Received Mossy Wood x1]
[Received Mossy Dirt x1]
…
Conclusion: I can probably build a house out of [Fishing]. Both quantity and quality cannot compare to [Dismantling], assumingly for good balance reasons. However, I am not risking my virtual life while gaining access to most material types in the area. I also release the fish back to water so true pacifism is achieved!
RIP the fish cooked with rocks. Sorry~
That's enough [Fishing] for a while. I wonder how the two girls are doing now…
…They haven't mowed down everything that moves in the zone right?
Because they are in my party, there's no problem locating them. DEX gear, on. Ramming speed ahead!
…
I am pretty sure that when we parted, and were on foot. So why are they riding a golem that glows like a walking lamp?!
Name is [Firefly Golem Sternel]. It's a boss?!
_ Fensen: Hiyo~
_ Shadyna: Uh, why are you riding that?
_ Fensen: We tamed it… I think?
What is with that uncertainty?!
_ Shadyna: How? I haven't taught you about taming, have I?
Because I don't know the exact conditions for taming to begin with! Until this day I still have no idea what the conditions for taming a Jelleaf are!
_ Fensen: Uhm~ We were walking around finding something to shoot at…
Someone is going to take that out of context, guaranteed.
_ Shadyna: Did you kill this boss and get a summon item?
The easiest way of acquiring a beast. Elri can testify with her salam… drake that is her current trademark in town. I am in no way related to how she managed to solo a raid boss and acquire the pet in first try~
_ Fensen: Of course not~ A bunch of people were fighting it back there. The players at the front kept getting killed and everyone was having a hard time, so we lent a hand!
Such good girls. Though with your firepower it's probably best to refrain unless you want to be called a kill-stealer (KSer)…
Ignoring that for now, the boss was killing the tanks, so that was indeed bad news for the parties. might actually be better than she looks if she could see that, despite having not seen a boss fight before.
_ Poltea: Please just walk to them next time, . They were really angry after what you did.
…She killed the boss in first strike, didn't she? I have not looked into the numbers, but I am pretty sure all in all the weapons' stats-stacking alone gives her a base PAT high enough to compete against my [Accelerate Power]. Then [Alpha Strike Power]'s multiplier will trigger Sateri's damage cap again, and even that did not save the weird mask, let alone a poor field boss weakened by other players.
Not my fault this time, right?
_ Fensen: I couldn't help it! Aiming an [Alchemy] item was so different from shooting a crossbow! And I wasn't good at crossbow either!
Why are you so proud of that?! This is a game where Sateri will augment your abilities to overcome real life's physical limitations, yet you haven't gotten used to the crossbow despite having more attributes than a level capped player AND actually receiving a title out of your shootings?!
Excuse overruled. She just hasn't realized it yet.
_ Shadyna: Uh, what did you do, exactly?
_ Fensen: Save the day by healing the wounded, like a hero!... was what I planned. Because we had 0 MP, I used the [Alchemy] item with [Minor Heal] enchantment you gave us for emergencies…
That disadvantage manifested into real trouble too quickly! At least wait until the most inopportune time to let the villain escape or something!
_ Shadyna: …If it was a healing item, why did they get angry at you?
Each of those "potions" (more like elixirs at this point) should fully heal you with [Cooking]'s percentage healing, give you tons of blue (overflow) HP using [Alchemy]'s effects, full attributes and status buffs, and of course the level 0 [Minor Heal] which exists solely to enable the magic targeting. Throwing them is a waste you see!
Can't imagine anyone who would not want that, really.
_ Fensen: The boss… uh… was swinging its massive arm at the players. Our target got flung away and the spell landed on it instead.
…You joined force with the boss instead of the players?!
_ Shadyna: Welp. That… would cause some misunderstanding.
How did they kill the boss though?
_ Fensen: The players saw the boss being healed and detected us. Then they started complimenting us in ways I couldn't even understand!
Pretty sure they weren't complimenting.
_ Poltea: They were using all profanities in the world to throw at us, … I was amazed at the vocabulary they had, somewhat.
As much as I want to tell those guys not to teach the girls cultural wastes, I can kind of sympathize with them. They were already struggling with the boss, so a full recovery might just end their raid…
_ Fensen: Duh! We tried to explain to them but they came charging!
_ Shadyna: That sounds dangerous. Why didn't you call me for help?
_ Fensen: We were busy running for our dear lives~
_ Poltea: Should we have done something differently?
_ Shadyna: Well, running first and foremost is correct, but please inform me so I can come to your rescue as soon as possible.
…And prevent the attackers' bad end too. If these two are cornered, they might just fight back and murder every last one of the enemies… Scary!
Eh? Me doing just that? Ahaha, no way. I am a bona fide pacifist~
_ Fensen: Will do! But you see, soon after we dashed away, the boss caught up with the players and smashed them for good, so we didn't call in the end.
_ Shadyna: …Pardon me?
I look at the golem again.
So she is saying this massive walking glowing rock which is as big as Elri's salamander, with rocky cones for arms and legs, moves by dragging itself sluggishly on the ground, is SOMEHOW faster than almost-capped players?!
Sure, bosses have way better stats than random mobs, but aren't that a bit too extreme?!
_ Poltea: I… think it was the potion's buffs… Its movement had been much slower… before used the potion on it.
_ Fensen: As I said, I didn't mean to!!!
Something, something, I am not related to this in anyway because it wasn't my intention when I crafted that potion? Is that how the laws work around here?
_ Fensen: Besides, who in the world would try to shake a golem's hand after seeing that battle?!
_ Poltea: Guh! It was gratitude! It was just glaring at us so I had to do something!
_ Fensen: And that's about it, . here made friend with the golem and it turned into a [Summon Stone]. We also got [At-will Beast User] and [Boss Tamer] titles.
[Boss Tamer: The one who employs the employer. Grant small leadership effect from each summoned tamed boss.]
That's a nice title she got there. I can already see the attribute feedback loop potential with that one. Boss gives attributes => Craft stronger LDR gear => Gives it to boss => Rinse and repeat.
I don't have the title, so even if gives the [Summon Stone] to me I cannot exploit it. And I am not even sure if you can just use a tamed beast of another player… That sounds like a really fast way to lose [At-will Beast User] if you ask me.
Guess I need to tame one on my own huh…
_ Shadyna: That's great. Did get the titles as well?
_ Fensen: I did~ But holds the stone so…
_ Shadyna: Give me a second.
_ Shadyna (PM): Hessy, please teach me the location of the most badass boss in the grove!
_ Hessy (PM): Random spouting of the day isn't it? If it's the grove's boss then the answer is always the deeper part to the northwest.
_ Shadyna (PM): Thank you! I will bring back souvenir if possible!
_ Hessy (PM): As long as it's not a weapon of mass destruction… It's going to be a weapon of mass destruction isn't it?
How rude~
_ Shadyna: Target acquired. To the northwest! Let's tame another boss for !
_ Fensen: Oh~!
_ Poltea: O-oh~
Still, if throwing buffs at a boss is enough to tame it, why did no one achieve it before…? Someone like Mera, for example.

The new cafeteria is now operational.
Due to the short notice, there was no way to integrate all the previous shops without someone getting upset. As a result, each shop will do its business in a quarter of the ground floor for the time being.
_ Hessy: It's coming together, somehow…
_ Mera: All thanks to a certain someone providing child support~
_ Hessy: Sateri-dammit is the only one having child with !... But it's true we only made it to this point because of her…
_ Mera: All thanks to a certain someone defiling a young girl by accident~
*WHACK*
_ Mera: Ow~
_ Miel: Just want to say that I am still the main wife, with the firstborn.
*WHACK*
The mistress of the cafeteria is already regretting her decisions.

There's none.
If they had made a guild, they haven't announced it yet. Not having a player name with guild icon above your head for the sake of immersion usually has that problem.

--- Topic: Boss too hard ---
## PeaceDestroyer
Let's face it, Sateri-chan buffed the field bosses way too much! We had 4 full capped parties (almost 50 players for who cannot do basic math) ganging up on a level 20 in the grove, and still struggled against it.
All it took was a -censored- bunch of trolls to heal the boss and ruin the whole thing!
##
## Serious Mage
To be fair we were complaining about bosses being so easy that too many players were competing for the big loots before the patch. (~_~;)
That asides, healing should just have prolonged the fight (and you should have dealt with the trolls), not ending it. You guys were already under-geared for it.
##
## PeaceDestroyer
No, we were dying, but so was the boss.
The trolls healed (and buffed?) it. Suddenly it started killing us in one hit, tanks included!
[Pics] Those -censored- looked like this. If we meet them again in town it will be bloody!

I would like to meet them too! Such cute little angels! =^_^=

This is the story of how James Allen Quick and Sarah Lynn Abernathy died. By 'died', I mean that their hearts stopped, their brains ceased sending electrical impulses, and all other physical functions terminated. Immediately after which, their bodies were placed into an industrial furnace, reduced to ash, and the ash was spread about in one of the last forest reserves in North America. As ash-spreading locations go, this ranked third. First and second places were, of course, a person’s favorite athletic team’s playing field and the sea. Or rather, I should say that this is how the story begins. You see, it’s what came after that is so interesting.
