They move from the dungeon, keeping watch for any beasts in the area but the forest is strangely quiet.
-I don't like this, Rellik says while looking around, it's unnatural.
Bast meows in agreement. A low howl resonates near them, another responds to the call. Rellik launches a comet in the forest, illuminating a distinct shape.
-It's a wolf pack, prepare an area-of-effect spell if you have one and give them hell.
He identifies one of the wolves.
Aero wolf
Lvl: 10
-So it has an affinity for wind, it might be fast but it's full of hot air. Wait, the other looks different.
Hydro Wolf
Lvl: 10
-They are all different elements! We're in trouble. He starts to spam comets and ice spikes. I'm almost out of mana, looks like we'll be sent to respawn.
-Not if I can stop it. A voice sounds from behind Rellik, he turns and identifies the speaker.
???
Lvl: ???
The stranger raises his hand and a stream of flames scorched all the wolves present, including one that was bigger than the others.
-You can get the loot from the boss if you want.
-Thanks mister. Rellik says as he puts his hand on the corpse.
Natural manufactured
6 Wolf claws
3 Scorched wolf hides
1 Elemental scimitar (+10% Elemental damage)
-Well, of course I'll take the sword. He says. It's much better and I need a better weapon.
Rellik and Bast follow the man to a small cottage in the woods. Upon entering, they see that the inside only has a bed, a table and a chair.
-Pardon me for asking, but why do you live in isolation when there probably are more advanced planets for the elves?
-It's okay, you see, while it is true that there are superior planets, solar systems even, the politics that come with being at my level is too much for my old body. Now let's cut to the chase, I saved your life because I can't believe that that the king wants to end humanity. To stop him, I need a spy that will provide me with inside information.

Quest alert: Become a spy for the old man in the woods
Reward: continuation of the unique questline
Failure: death
(note: declining counts as a failure)
-Mister, I accept if you tell me your name.
-Good, now we need a disguise, tell me your name and age.
-My name is Rellik Huntre and I'm 38, but I have a question, ain't I already disguised.
The man laughes.
-No, we elves age at human standard for the first ten years of our life then the ratio is 1:10. Don't resist this might hurt a bit.
The hermit concentrates for a minute or two and ghostly blue lights start to glow on his body before going into Rellik, who blacks out almost instantly.

8 159The Path of Darkness
Necromancer. That word used to be feared throughout the continent, perhaps the world. Now barely anybody knows what it means. The necromancers of old were powerful, cunning, and insidious. Masters of death, they held the power to sway the fate of nations. The tales of their exploits are all but legends and myths now, stories from a time long forgotten. There is a war brewing, between the two great nations of Janaro and Klavan. Caught in the middle and framed for treason, a historian will exercise magic long lost in order to carve his mark on the world.
8 189Real Real Life
Jamie was having a bad day, until he was crushed to death by a beer delivery truck and things became a whole lot worse. Thrown back into the 'Real World', but now with access to his own stats and those of others Jamie must undertake a series of quests in order to level up and advance, and figure out just what in the name of all that is unholy is going on. Which is the real world? Is he in a game? A simulation? And who actually is his online friend Barry. Inspired greatly by the MUDs of the 90s, many of the aspects will be familiar to those who experienced the joys of text adventures, MUSHs, MURPEs, MUDs, modern MMORPGs or just some good old fashioned cybering with a 17/f/Cali who was anything but. This humorous, harem LitRPG story is the first story by experienced author Jamie Haremie under this pen name. Jamie has previously written horror and romance (sometimes together!) as well as tons and tons of riveting TPS reports. (Late 90s cultural reference? CHECK). Any and all comments and suggestions welcome!
8 230St. Charles and the Children from the Sun
This story is a tale classic in its tragedy, about the foibles of Man and how he destroys the things he loves, all to prove himself superior over the Universe. In a quest to defeat Hilter during Wold War II, Winston Churchill and Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt barter with a race of serpents who come from outer space. There are a few inconveniences for the leaders of the West when dealing with these creatures. For one, they can't even talk to them, for the aliens 'speak' by manipulating light. But in exchange for the knowledge of how to build an atomic bomb, all the monsters want from us is to live in peace at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. What could go wrong with that? * * * This story is my entry in The Royal Road Community Magazine Contest * * *
8 206A Hunter's Second Life Aggression
For four hundred years, the human world was under the threat of man-slaying monsters called “Wraiths”. A tragic incident had caused a high school student to find himself sharing their blood on the same day of his acceptance into a wraith hunting group. (Temporary cover)
