《Fantasy Tech Online》Chapter 1: A new world

Sitting at his computer, Jace waits for the technician to finish installing his new pod and to start explaining the simplistic controls to him,
-Seriously, these things are even more boring then a Pokemon tutorial. Jace thinks to himself as he listens to the music he put on to distract him from the noise.
-Sir, we'll be ready to begin the explanations. The mechanic says as he enters the room.
-Don't, I've done this more times than I care to count. We should just go to the synchronization step. Jace intterupts the man before he can say something else.
Heading to the silver box, he activates the hatch before climbing inside. A message pops up in front of him.
Synchronization complete 100%
Logging in...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jace appears in a room so white that you can't see the border, a young girl of about 12 is waiting for him.
-Hi I'm Luna, goddess of the moon, you probably want to start playing so let's make this quick.
She waves her hand and a list of names appear in front of him.
-These are the playable races Mr..., I forgot to ask you your name, why does this always happen to me?
Jace smiles at the girl's antics.
-My name is Jace, but my in-character name is the legendary Rellik Huntre. As for my race, I want to play as a moon elf.
Luna looks at him questionably.
-How do you know you want to play as a moon elf, you didn't even see the racial abilites?
-Based on common tropes, a moon elf is a dexterous caster with a night vision ability. Rellik looks at her. Am I right?
She sighs dramatically before waving her hand. Immediatly, a screen pops up.

-See, I told you I knew what I was doing, but since every single rpg has a different stat system, can you show me FTO's.
-Fine, you're lucky you chose my favorite race, seeing as it's the players fault that I'm awake.

-Thanks Luna, so what's next?
-Next you get to chose how ugly you look. she says with a roguish smile,
-You can access my account right. Luna nods. Then just download the PDF file named RellikHuntre.pdf.
-You're no fun, but I can do that. She writes something down and Rellik can feel his body changing. She continues talking. The next step is choosing your three starting magic types.
-To be honest I didn't think I'd get that much.
Luna grins and shows a new screen to the player. After a couple of minutes, he makes his final decision.
Stellar magic As a stellar mage, the stars are yours to control. Starting spell: Starlight (1 mana/min, a simple light spell) Shadow magic As a shadow mage, the shadows are yours to control. Starting spell: Shadow shroud (5 mana/min, cloaks the immediate area with shadows, raising evasiveness by 5%) Ice magic As a cryomancer, the ice is yours to command. Starting spell: snowball ( 2 mana, a simple projectile)
-Here, but care to answer my question, why are all the starting spells so weak? Rellik asks the goddess.
-Sure. You see, The creators of FTO want for people to discover a use for their magic, same goes for crafting. She looks at him to see if he understands. We're all done for character creation, the last thing you need to do before playing is to sign this legal contract.

He takes his time to read the contract. It was pretty standard stuff, don't tell the AI that they are NPC's or else you get banned. When Rellik signs the paper, a blinding light appears and warps him to the starting zone.
He does the first thing any sane players do when playing for the first time, he wills his status screen to appear.
