Hello guys. I decided to keep writing the way I am. Hopefully as you read, many questions you have will be answered.
If you have any other questions, opinions, reviews or comments, feel free to leave them here. Thanks again!.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Come on! Let’s be haste or we are going to catch a cold. I haven’t seen it pour down like this in a while. Here, Skylar, you probably don’t have one so I’ll give it to you. Take this. Not sure, if you will like the color but bear with it.” (Aaron)
Aaron handed me a white cloak. It looked something similar to what a nun would wear. Maybe that’s why he warned me, but it’s all good. I’m not the type to be picky in this type of situation. Hopefully… I don’t look like a clown.
Currently, We were near the central part of the town.
According to Aaron, most of the towns, and kingdoms have the same layout. There are southern, northern, eastern and western gates. The ones that we came through were the southern gate. Each gates have a straight road that leads to the central of the town, and for us to get to the central, we walked straight from the inspection room that was located right near the southern gate.
As we were walking, it was hard for me to see anything. The rain was coming down so hard and fast that it was hard to see things visibly unless they are close to you. I probably won’t be able to get a good tour of the town until the rain stops, but the rain might keep on going. According to Sera, it’s actually monsoon season. It’s not going to stop for a while.
When we approached the central area, there was nothing. It was just a big open space. Uh… I don’t know what to make of this. What do they even do with this huge space? And as I’m thinking that, like a psychic, Sera answered my question.
“You are probably wondering why there isn’t anything in the central area. Usually there are many merchants with vendors that covers every area of the central but they are not here today, because it’s pouring outside. No one would come out in this kind of weather anyways.” (Sera)

Aha. I see. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to come out in this kind of weather either. No wonder, why there weren’t that many people walking around the town. After seeing the deserted central area, we walked west towards the area where the guild would be located. Of course, there weren’t many people around but it had more people near the western gate road than the southern gate side. I’m assuming that there were more people here because these people were adventurers. There are no other reasons to be near here right?
“We’re here.”(Aaron)
“Eh? Already?”
I should pay attention to my surroundings more.
“We’re finally here! Whew. I thought I wasn’t going to make it. Never have I saw that much rain in my life.” (Jade)
“Agreed.” (Sera)
We stopped near a building that seemed to be built on logs. On the top of the building it had a sign that says -Adventurers Guild-. It’s pretty simple. I like it.
When we entered, there were many people working on the right, and chilling on the left. On the right, there was a receptionist desk. It looked like bank. There were lines of people waiting to be taken care of, and slowly but surely each one would be helped by the helper. On the left, there is a bar. There were many people sitting, drinking and eating. There were about 7 tables and each tables were full with at least 4 people. Few waitresses were working in a rush, trying to serve every table.
“Alright, Skylar. Me, Sera, and Jade have to hand in the quest we cleared and head out to somewhere urgently. We are actually quiet behind the time. If you walk to the receptionist table over there, they should be able to help you. Sorry, about this. Anyways, we will probably see each other later. Be careful not to get caught in a mess. Especially nobles.” (Aaron)
“Alright, Thanks for everything, Aaron.”
“We’ll see you then” (Aaron, Sera, and Jude)
After abruptly saying their goodbyes, they headed toward the staircase that lead to the second floor of this building and left me.

Now, What should I do. I should definitely do what Aaron said and ask some questions at the receptionist.
I wore my bag and went to the receptionist table. Of course, I had to wait on the line.
…….
Some time have passed, and it was finally my turn. As I walked up, I was greeted by a pretty lady with purple hair. Is everyone in this world all pretty??? And is that natural or dyed?
“Hello, How may I help you today?” (Receptionist)
“Uh, I just had some questions to ask.”
“Sure, ask away.”
“How do I become an adventurer? What are the ranks? Uh… How do I accept requests? What are the benefits of having high ranks?”
“You can become an adventurer just by registering. After, you register you can start accepting requests which are known as quests. You can look for them on that pinboard over there. When you find a quest that you want to accept, you just bring that paper here and the guild will look over your record and approve it, if you are suited for it. After that you can start your quest. There are 7 Ranks. F, E, D, C, B, A, S. Though levels are needed, having quests received and done will let you obtain higher ranks. Certain ranks like A and S, there are level requirements. Now, there are benefits once you are B rank and above. For B ranks, you receive monthly pay, and you are able to quickly go in and out of city. For A rank, you get the benefit B gets but you also get the title of noble. For a person to become a S rank, you will get a special title that only S ranks have. There are currently only 6 S ranks in this world.” (Receptionist)
“I see. Thanks for the explanation. Could you also tell me what the currencies are?”
“The currency?” (Receptionist)
“Ah, yes. Sorry, I’m not from around here and was wondering what each coins were worth.”
“Ah I see, Currently, 100 copper coins are equivalent to 1 silver coin. 100 silver coins are equivalent to 1 gold, 100 gold coins are equivalent to 1 diamond coin.” (Receptionist)
Hm, I see… So that means I have good amount of money?
“I see. Do you have any map of this town?
“Yes, we do. Hold on a second, I will get it for you. Would you also like to be registered as an adventurer?” (Receptionist)
“Yes.”
“That will be 50 silver, and you would have to fill this form out.”
WhAT? 50 silver? That’s so expensive… well, I have to have some kind of identity, so I have no choice… The form just asked for name, age, and whether if I was a noble or not.
“Alright. Here you go.”
“Thank you. Just wait a bit here” (Receptionist)
Sigh… Now, I only have 75 silver coins left. Hopefully, there are some cheap motels or something.
After waiting for about 5 minutes, the receptionist lady came back.
“Here you go. This is your adventures ID, and here is your map. Is there anything else you need?” (Receptionist)
“No. I’m good. Thanks for everything.”
After saying my thanks, I left the receptionist desk and headed towards the guild's entrance to exit through there. I opened the map and looked. I’m currently located near the western gate. The Inn was located near the eastern gate. I have to walk all the way to eastern gate in this weather… ha…
So I took the white cloak that Aaron gave me and re-wore it over my head so that it covers my bag too. I came outside of the building and took few deep breaths. Then I headed to the eastern gate.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
