《Celestial Cycle》Chapter 2

That night after signing out of his lab he worked his way to the old housing district bringing him near the grand crystal, which kept the island of Asgard floating in the air. He stops at a nearby bench looking at the crystal. He stares at the dark black crystal and contemplates what to do about Hella and the powers that had appeared in his body.
“Well if it is not the hot shot branch member Dragis!” A low voice yelled out.
Closing his eyes and leaning his head back “Devin you are just mad that I passed your magical power level in last year’s family competition.”
Suddenly a splash of water hits Dragis in the face. “Cool down hot stuff you only beat me because you knew that strange method to combine different elements that should now be.”
Sitting up opening his eyes as and shaking the water off his face and looks at Devin with a slight grin “If you spent less time studying theory and more on actually practicing it you would have figured the trick out first.”
“Well we can’t all be monsters in multiple aspects I am a few years older than you and yet you are at the same level as me.”
With both of the men smiling “Well at least we both make a powerful pair the powerhouse and the theory maker. Also, have to add my brother Layzrac into the list as he is not too far off from us in either.”
“Have you managed to fuse the wind and earth elements yet or they still rejecting each other?” Devin asked as he sat beside me with a serious face.
“I have yet to find a solution to fuse the fast and slow areas of the elements. I can begin the fusion but as the elemental laws fill the stone it tears itself apart.” Dragis said with a sigh as he looked into the large crystal.

Devin leans back “Do you really think that if we can fuse all of the elements we can make a space crystal like the grand ones that hold the mainlands above the lower world?”
“I believe so , or at least in theory, we know that it radiates all the different elements that allow us to use magic as well as make elemental stones” Dragis responds placing his chin in his hands.
“True but just the fusion of fire and water only worked because you were able to use the combination of the fog and smoke spells as a starting point and a base to hold it together that was hard enough on their own much less adding in the other three.”
“There is no choice with the power from the grand crystal getting less and less each year within the next one hundred to two hundred years the islands will fall,” Dragis says seriously as he looks at Devin.
“Well thankfully at our level we should have about that same amount of time to work on the problem,” Devin says as he stands up and smiles.
“How do you stay so calm when we are one of the few who knows this secret and has so much responsibility?” Dragis stands up asking him.
Patting his shoulder Devin says “We will figure it out just breathe and stay focused. I will see you later I have to go home to the wife at least one of us focuses on love some.” He smiles and walks off.
“You are not very funny” Dragis yells at him and turns and starts walking back to his housing district.
Before he leaves the area he looks back one last time “Who made these giant crystals and if they made them where did the knowledge they used to make it go?” he ask himself as he turns and walks out of the area.
Again I say be careful the questions you ask and the knowledge you search for because if you look hard enough you will find an answer even if after you wish you had not.

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

This fiction is purely intended to entertain and is not based upon any religion. *** What comes after death? The Afterlife. A world split into three layers. Heaven, Nexus and Hell. The Afterlife is harsh, cruel, and sometimes downright unfair, with everything based upon luck. A world with a game system, which enables the residents to level up, and gain special attributes. A tower lies in the middle of it all, named the Core, which provides passage to God, who will bestow on you your greatest desires. Unfortunately, to get to God, one must conquer 27 stages and battle against others wishing to meet him too. Ikite, a young teenager, gets killed by a gang of criminals and reawakens in Hell with a different body and life. As his two new personalities meld into one, he becomes an 'Awakener', someone who has their previous life's personality sharing their mind. However, he realises he has no combat perks, a bad class and a peasant's life in Hell, the lowest layer. At first, he decides on a hardworking, yet peaceful life with his mother, but bad luck wouldn' leave him alone. Forced to journey where he doesn't want to journey, will he overcome his obstacles, change his perspectives, and climb the tower?
