《The Forgotten Light》Chapter 12: The Eternal Door of Souls

In the morning I woke up to my left arm tightly wrapped around Linley, as if holding onto him for dear life. When I lifted my head I saw that Linley was still sleeping so I lifted my arm off of him and crawled away to allow him to sleep.

Linley lifted his head as I was leaving and said, “Hey. You don’t have to leave I’ve been up for hours, you just had me in your grip so tight that I wasn’t able to move until you woke up.”

With a smile I said, “I feel asleep with my head on you, and I guess cuddling you just seemed like the next best thing.”

Linley didn’t know how to react so without a word he crawled out of the hole and stood there until I came out. “Ready to practice some more?”

As a joke I bent my head a bit and said, “Yes sir.” But Linley didn’t react at all.

“Alright today we are going to work on you transferring your energy to your right hand. I will only guide you when you absolutely need it, from what I saw last night the best thing I can do is sit back and allow you to discover your magic on your own.”

I walked where I couldn’t see Linley and made myself as calm as I could. There was no delay, when I closed my eyes the heat began to fill up my upper body. I guided it down to my left hand without any problems. Thinking as hard as I could I imagined the light crawling its way up my left arm, across my shoulders and making its way down my right arm. Before I had to give up the light made it down to my elbow. I was forced to let go and to start again. I ran on a spot for a bit, shook my arms and bend my head from side to side, trying to relax myself as much as possible.

Taking a deep breath out I closed my eyes and allowed myself to melt. My energy filled me up again, I guided it straight to my right hand since my left hand was the easy part. Trying to make the light go past my elbow took all of my strength, my brain started to pound in pain, but I still forced the light. I could feel my nose being to bleed and my hands began to shake, but before I could force myself any further Linley came up behind me and grabbed my hands.

“Stop. If you push yourself any further you’re going to kill yourself.”

“I know that I can do this. So let go of me.”

“No.”

With that one word that Linley spoke I knew that he was serious. I dropped my hands and gave up on practicing my magic for a while. “Well what should be do if you don’t want to me to practice?”

“Find the exit.”

I glared at him, but he didn’t respond he just started walking and it was my job to keep up with him. “So you say that the exit is just up ahead but we’ve been traveling for a day and a half and haven’t found an exit.”

“If you know your way it is a flash to find.”

“Do you know your way?”

“Ummm… it’s somewhere around here.”

“You mean we’ve been walking around with no clue as to where we’re going?”

“No.” Looking around Linley said, “We just have to find the eternal door of souls and that is our way out.”

Being intrigued I asked, “What’s that?”

Linley turned and started to explain while looking around, as if distracted by other thoughts. "Basically it's a door that...allows you to pass through...if you're a good soul...WATCH OUT!!!"
