《The tale of an undead armor (rewrite)》CH 4 preparation

Well, these guys have been discussing with each other for so long that I nearly fell asleep(a physical impossibility, but I can't help the feeling). They have been talking about the enemies threatening them at their borders and all the logistical mess that follows such kind of thing. Well, they seem to be been attacked by a group of humans using slavery magic. Those guys are annoying to deal with.
During that time I have been focusing on something else. something that is much more unique. The status is something that makes me wonder. A crystallization and summary of the power of a person. You know just how much something like this would help out folks. Well, I know of another of my kind that would appreciate such a thing. It would certainly help him out a lot.
Species- undead armor
Level- 1/5
Mana- 10/10
Skills- mana sense- level 1
Weapons mastery- level 1
Abilities- bone king- level 1
Armor possession- level 1
Passive- armor sharing- level 1
These abilities of mine come with a set of descriptions, like a whisper in my head. I don't know if I like this in my head. I wonder if these are a part of the system itself or some kind of a review by other users of this ability. Somehow it feels like the latter. Anyway, here goes.
Armor possession- it allows me to possess the body of the one wearing my armor right now and gain access to all their abilities during the duration that I possess them.
A simple explanation but it seems like a useful ability. I do not have permission to use that ability. It was the first clause of the agreement between the mage and me.
As long as a goblin is wearing me, I have no chance to use that ability, or a chain from hell would pierce my soul and pull me down there. Not even my soul is sturdy enough to deal with hellfire. Only Dragonfire tends to be more destructive, as far as my limited knowledge goes.
Well, regardless of how dangerous hellfire is, I can deal with it once I am strong enough. For now, I am only thankful that I am alive. This goblin has use of me anyway. While I am not a genius at arrays, I can tell that the arrays that have been placed on my body are meant to hide mana signatures. This elder wants to hide from somebody and I am supposed to be the shield.
Right now the elder itself is a being that I can't deal with. Any being that the elder wants to hide from is somebody I have to be careful of. Normally death means that I would end up outside the world in the great void. I am sure that is not the case with the great wilderness. Maybe I can finally experience reincarnation. That would certainly be interesting.
Anyway, I do have a similar skill with the passive, though this is milder compared to possession and certainly something that I want to try out.

Armor sharing- I and the wearer of the armor can share our mana pool and even a few of our skills, only the physical ones though, nothing related to magic.
Another thing that makes me very curious is the levels. I don't have too detailed of an idea on the evolution system of the great wilderness. All I know is that it involves something known as life force.
From what I do know It seems like every creature in these worlds has something known as a life force. This life force is what causes all these changes in these beings, giving them their power and the power to evolve to even stronger bodies.
I think that is what my level means. It is supposed to be a measure of the life force that I have with me. I do wonder if even I can evolve, I am not completely of this world, after all. I don't think that even the great wilderness is accepting enough that it would just allow me to survive and then to use the systems of its worlds to grow stronger.
If I can evolve that would be very nice. After all, If a being can't evolve in the great wilderness, it is as good as dead. Anyway, I am distracted by something that goblin knight says.
Goblin knight- I won't be allowing you onto the battlefield, elder. It does not matter how powerful your armor is, I am not allowing you onto the battlefield. Your death will leave a massive hole in our defenses.
Elder bone- no need to be so dramatic young one, I have certainly seen more battlefield than you ever will. Naturally, I won't be entering the battlefield immediately. This armor of mine is still very fragile. I won't risk one of my best creations until it is strong enough. What I need is to make my creation stronger.
Goblin knight- what do you need to strengthen this armor of yours, elder.
Elder bone- fighting, I still need to know just how exactly this armor can be used and anything else, I can get on my own from the corpses of the fallen. So, I will need you to send me to one of your missions. Whichever you consider being the safest
Goblin knight- we can send him to the south. It is pretty safe down there and there will be enough creatures there for the master to fight and train. Goblin mage can keep an eye on him too.
Goblin mage- no, the wave is not something meant for practice. The wave this time would be too risky for such a thing. I would rather not send him to the southern borders.
The mage looks at the knight with an open challenge in her eyes.
Goblin knight- I won't be taking him north. The humans will figure out who the elder is and then we will have to face at least ten times the forces that we are dealing with right now.

Goblin leader- then we shall not send the elder to either. Well, we do need to send somebody to the black water swamps. Goblin mage has been complaining about how that place is shady beyond belief. There is nothing there that can challenge the elder and night wolves are always useful undead to have.
Elder bone- no, I won't be making undead anytime soon. I am about to enter into sleep soon. The Armor is going to take over for me.
Goblin mage- you have not used any step five magic, so why would you need to sleep?
Elder bone- I have created this undead haven't I, young one. This armor of mine has the potential to even reach step 6. It is going to be one of the strongest undead I have ever created. Naturally, that means that I have to use my strongest magic to build it.
Goblin leader- that doesn't change the fact that night wolf undead are pretty useful. I will send one of my guards with him. He can raise a group of night wolves and protect the elder at the same time. Two birds with one stone.
Goblin mage- no, only a single guard is a bad idea. Let's send at the very least a troop of unnamed ones with the brat. That should be enough to ensure the elder's safety.
Elder bone- looks like it is decided then. You, people, continue your discussion, I shall meet you later. I am feeling very tired.
(A while later)
Right now we are in elder bones cabin, which has not been built for a creature of my size. If I properly stretch my legs, I will be creating holes in the building. How the fuck am I supposed to rest here.
Me- what is this about you sleeping?
Elder death- well, when I reached step four, I got a special ability that allows me to use a magic a step greater than my present step. Though as a side effect I have to sleep for the next couple of months. It is annoying, but it is certainly useful in many cases.
Me- elder, can you explain to me how exactly things here work. Especially the evolution of your people. It is not something I have seen before. It is not like the others of wilderness that I have seen.
Elder death- our system of evolution is a bit different from the other realms. Rather than continuous evolution like other realms of the great wilderness, we evolve in steps. Every time that we can achieve a step, our strength is boosted by a great deal. It is to a point where achieving a step is even known as rebirth. Until we achieve the step limit, we accumulate life force and modify our body just like any creature in the great wilderness.
Me- so what would you say about the powerhouses are. Beings that would be able to take positions of powers, like kings and stuff. What step would they be at?
Elder death- in these parts that would be a step four or a step five being. We are in what can be considered to be a wild region. To our south, we have the great bestial forests, which is not a place that even the elves have managed to tame and to our north, we have multiple human empires. They too are not easy enemies to fight.
Me- at what step am I at them.
Elder death- well, you should be at step 0, with barely any life force. But at which precise level that is something that you have to tell me. It should be in your status.
Me- my status is incomplete, so yeah it is hard for me to say precisely. I am a level 1 though.
Elder death- yeah, it takes a few days sometimes. I have heard of such things happening before. You don't need to worry too much about such a thing.
Me- then, what shall we do about this black water swamp. You want it to be a green or red zone.
Elder death- this place is all for you. I will most likely endupo sleeping through this mission of yours. So you shall be in charg, unless goblin mage wants to accompany you. Well, you will have to leave the southern borders to me.
And thus begins a long and boring debate. Again, there is no real reason for me to record this negotiation of ours, but I will explain about the green and the red zone.
Right now the both of us are in control of the armor, struggling for control. In our contract, we had set up a system of areas where one side would not interfere in the other side's control. The green zone is the location where I am allowed to control the armor. The mage can only sit in my body and wait for me to enter a red zone.
the red zone is where he holds power. He can take control of the armor and I can only sit about doing nothing. There is also the yellow zone, where both of us can take control of the armor.
While we agreed about the green, yellow, red zone, we had yet to decide this position of the green zones, red zones, and yellow zones.
Well, we did agree about a few of these zones. The city below us is a yellow zone and the graveyard where I have come from is a green zone. Now we have to decide about the remaining and that is something that will be taking a bit of time.

No Easy Mode
Reincarnation isn't easy, Sure you might have a status menu but unlike a video game the training is real, the blood, sweat, and tears are real. Unfortunately for Samuel Erasi Fuller he found out that no amount of video game knowledge can prepare you for a world of skills, attributes and magic and even his top notch survival skills only go so far when there are beasts that shoot fireballs or move like a bolt of lighting. Worse yet there are no levels of skills just a name and description and a percentage display! Edit: Yes the poorly done cover is my personal work. Drawing anything using your finger and an app on your phone was not as easy as the tutorial made it look!

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.

Road of the Immortal Tao

You will be able to find many names of actual in-game players in the novel (yours truly included), all of which agreed to participate in this little project. For obvious reasons there will be deviations from the actual game in order to match an actual timeline and for the story to make sense. Enjoy the journey of the S87 players on their path to Immortality!
