Endeavor Count: 3 Months, 22 Days, 00 Hours, 00 Minutes
Endeavor Event: In Orbit Around Oasis
Endeavor: The Shakedown has been completed!
Chester Von Sebastion leans back at his desk and smiles in satisfaction. Despite not creating an ongoing profitable enterprise for House Von Sebastion on his first Endeavor he had secured notable improvements to his assigned ship and opened a line of communication towards the possible creation of just such an enterprise. It was nothing glamorous, just an open ended shipping contract between two Mechanicus installations, but it could prove quite lucrative for The House in time.
Chester's smile fades as he considers his next assignment. Pilgrim transportation to Viking in the Tichell system. It was the sort of utterly routine route that any Von Sebastion ship would run at least once early in their careers: low risk, moderate reward, no particular time pressure. That alone would make most merchant Shipmasters quite happy, but not Chester or Shipmaster Hawkins. Not with the temperament of the Erwin Siegmar's Belecane 90.r Geller Field Generator. It was freshly tuned and consecrated, and had even been refueled as part of the post-shakedown optimizations, but it had proven twitchy so far. Navigator Murirn was confident that it was assisting her in maneuvering around common Warp obstacles... and also that it was steering her into other ones. More dangerous ones.
Chester blew out a longs sigh. It would not do for the Erwin Siegmar to encounter warp turbulence, or worse, with four man holds full of pilgrims on board. Rioting or panicked stampedes would be bad enough, but a preacher or missionary getting riled up could make the whole situation so much worse. And the choice of the Pastor from Oasis to oversee the pilgrims and to interface with the bridge crew was another sticking point. The Oasis-based Ecclesiarchy didn't particularly like House Von Sebastion in general, and Chester had not endeared himself to them either, so whichever Pastor was chosen would come with an ax to grind. A report of Warp turbulence would be difficult to explain as routine when the Ecclesiarchy was looking for an excuse to find otherwise. Imperial Law would almost certainly be on Chester's side, and equally certainly be too slow moving to save his hide if the Ecclesiarchy wanted it nailed to a bulkhead under Church Law.

Chester sits up and scrubs the grit from his eyes. There was nothing he could do but to grin an bear it. Chester figures that, with only a little luck, he can the Pastor can be convinced to liaise with Shipmaster Hawkins first and foremost. It will solve very little, but will also mean the only the truly critical concerns reach his desk.It would also mean that the Pastor would have nearly free access to the bridge crew, who could find their loyalties divided if something was to go wrong.
With his primary concern settled Chester considers the possibility of making this required trip a multi-purpose venture. Surely there is the opportunity for a side-hustle of some sort? It would be a bit complicated, but would certanly prove quite profitable...

8 81Jeremy Finds A Dragon
Jeremy, a teenage boy with a freakish talent for the clarinet, is less than thrilled when his mom announces that they’re up and moving to a tiny village on a tiny Scottish island the summer before his senior year of high school. But Dunsegall turns out to be an okay sort of place, if you like cliffs, sheep, and small-batch ice cream made by a family obsessed with Ray Charles. Two teenage locals — Colin and Aggie — quickly pull Jeremy under their wing and decide to give him a summer he’ll never forget. Everything is mostly fine until one day, in the depths of the woods, they stumble across a two hundred year-old monk and a living, breathing — or, rather, snoring — dragon who need their help. Together, Jer, Col, and Aggie delve into the hidden history of the island, getting up to their elbows in heresy, Highland Games, and, somehow, romance.
8 116Love, Death, and Vengeance
295 dead, 0 found, and five more to go. She's almost done with her mission, and then... No, better not to think about what's to happen after. Just kill. Kill them all. Like the goddamn animal she was, she'd butcher every last one of them, herself included.
8 311Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
