Chapter 13

“---RECT!”

Thump…

Thump... Thump…

Thump... Thump.. Thump Thump Thump

“He breaths!”

- some unknown time later-

The wind brings in comfortable air as a soft rustling can be heard inside a small wooden room. The air is fresh, but a slight bit salty due to the proximity of the sea. Inside the room is a chair next to a single bed. Next to the window i cabinet, a wardrobe sits at the back of the room. On the bed lay a sleeping young man roughed up by a long arduous journey. White wolf ears contrast his brown hair.

The door slowly opens up as a young, but mature, girl walks in. similar to the boy, she has white wolf ears which rest atop her head. Because she is standing, a white and fluffy tail hangs behind her. With a natural finesse the girl casually walks toward the chair, sitting down on it. A slight worried expression appear on her face as she pulls out a large coin like object, pulling out a similar object, she compares the two. Miraculously they both faintly glow, indicating the validity of both. She then puts one of them on top of the end table next to the bed. Next she takes out a small book and begins to read it.

-An unknown amount of time passes as the wind caresses the boy while the girl reads-

Breathing in a can smell a faint amount of salt in the air along with a nice smell…

Wait… i can breath?

I slowly open my eyes as i come to the realization of a faint headache. All around me is sturdy wood like i was in a house or inn in medieval times. Why would i be here? Wouldn't i just awake at home? Pondering these questions i faintly ask,

“Where am i?”

“Your in drachenstadt” a very feminine voice enters my ears, slightly awakening from my stupor.

Looking over i see a beautiful girl reading. She wore what seemed to be a light but sturdy metal plate armor and a militaristic uniform underneath that. It took me a moment to register she had ears like mine. Shocked to finally see someone remotely similar to me i unconsciously reach up and feel the ears utop my head.

Fuck so it wasn't all a dream! But wait i should have died?

“I thought i died?” i ask out loud. Expecting to hear some sort of criticism saying i was close to death.

“You did” the girl says, while flipping a page in her book.

“If i died then does that mean i am in heaven?” i respond, flinching slightly at remembering the cat like creature.

“No? You were resurrected. Lucky to be found actually, the flying lynx that killed you had a large bounty on it’s head, you were lucky wyvern knights found you during their subjugation. They quickly brought you back to me, a trained combat healer.” the girl says finally putting down the book before marking her place.

As she is finally looking at me i get a good look at her vibrant green eyes. They were strong eyes, eyes i wish i could have.

“Might have just been better to conserve your resources than to waste it on some one like me. It is not like i can do much of anything anyway.” i say, depressing thoughts popping about throughout my mind.

The girl seems to have been shocked by the harsh response i gave her, evident by her dropped jaw. At a lost for words, she closes her mouth before thinking of a intelligent response.

Finally thinking of something the girl responds “no matter the person, good or evil, they always have a use. The draconics always say everyone has a part in the world.”

This however only ended up agitating me.

“At least your world doesn't reject you…” i responded depressed, looking away to the window.

Seeing i don’t want to talk anymore, the girl starts to frown a bit.

“They found you with one of the most damaged bodys, around 7 broken bone in your tail 5 cracked ribs 1 completely broken, a concussion and lastly a sprained ankle. Your chest had many lacerations. The rest of your injuries had been all around your back from bruises.” the girl said without a hint of doubt in her voice,

“I would suggest you rest up for about 2 months for all of your body to recover from shock as well as to recover from your concussion, while i can heal all of your injuries, i cant heal the scars on your chest or any mental problems. As for the concission, my healing magic is not accurate enough to truly heal all of your mind, however if your lucky you may not have any post concussion symptoms.” finally finishing up her diagnoses and my recovery plans, she got up to leave, allowing me to rest. On her way out i spotted her tail swaying slightly, for some reason, it was simply memorizing.

Mentally exhausted from this trip i simply closed my eyes thinking about what she had said.

At some point in time, I was awoken by the door opening again. Looking up i saw the familiar face walking in. This time instead of holding her book, she held a tray of food. This made me aware of how hungry I actually was. Not eating for who knows how long will do that to you.

“Sorry about earlier I have been having a rough time controlling my emotions. Thank you for helping me” I said. I knew that simply being depressed wasn't going to help anyone and instead it would make things more difficult for her.

She reels back slightly as her ears perk up, surprised that i apologized and thanked her.

“It's nothing” she says cracking a small smile.

“Would you mind telling me your name?” I asked, smiling back.

“My name is kina*. And yours?” She answered, politely.

Even her politeness couldn't sway me of my sadness at the thought. My name reminded me of home. My home reminded me of my predicament. This in turn, made me sad.

“My name? Yes… my name...it’s sam. Sam huh…” while I said this quietly, she undoubtedly heard me say this.

Her face had a perplexed look at my name. Her face soon returned to her casual look, one of calm and aloofness. Quickly I knew why she was perplexed:

“Where are you from? Ookami normally don't have unusual name like that.” She asked me clearly curious at my origins.

“I am not from around here I guess… I came from another world. I was originally human.”I said this with a pained sorrow in my voice. Still though, i had answered her question. No matter how sad it made me.

Her eyes raised at my voice “Oh, I am sorry. I didn't realize this was a sensitive subject…” she bowed slightly, this action completely took me off guard. After all, you don't bow to people normally in America.

“It… it's alright. I just have to accept it now…” the sadness was now visible, my face came down in a sad frown as I looked down. My ears followed my eyes this time. They had drooped down as well.

Kina had given a thoughtful look then, fully deciding to change the subject, she asked me this instead, “I saw you had a lion badge, why do you have one?”

Not expecting the sudden question I looked at her, while she was staring at me intently. Remembering that I did carry a lion badge, I reached for my shirt pocket only to realize I had a different shirt on, that didn't have any type of pocket. Looking a bit sad again, I heard a slight shuffle to see her pointing at the end table, on it was the badge.

“It was given to me from a member of the kings court. It was given to me by a man named friezer, he said it could aid my journey to get into the dragon city.” I said, finally responding to her question.

Nodding with a knowing expression she took up the tray that she places on the end table, placing it in my lap.

“We discuss more later. First we need to get you in good health.”
