Chapter 5 - Life Moves On In Unexpected Ways

*Arafel*

Four Years Later

After, carefully balancing his duties as the Alvertan Prime Minister and Ajax’s inside informant. Talus Rivera expects good news from earth, his lord’s recovery has been slow and tedious but the end result would be worth it. After receiving periodic updates on their progress, Talus expects to hear the good news that the last obstacle preventing them from completing to their goal has finally been taken care of. He was optimistic when he started up the visual function of his crystex, that mood however changed very fast.

[Talus]

“Well now according to your reports the plan you put into place should have bore fruit by now, what’s your status?”

“Our man failed to capture the target and was unsuccessful in finding the deed….”Was the whispered reply he received.

“Huh? repeat what you just said, that was too low for me to hear”

“Our man failed to capture the target and was unsuccessful in finding the deed”

“....WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED!”

“their 12 year old kid kicked his ass..” Once again the answer is given in a low voice.

”SPEAK UP!”

“Their 12 year old kid kicked his ass, OKAY?!”

“... Let me get this straight, a grown man got the shit kicked out of him by a 12-year-old kid? Are you kidding me? You have got to be, because I know you don’t want me passing this message along.”

”Wait a second, his blunder just made it easier to get rid of the father. I already sent out information anonymously, that will destroy the father’s ability to control his part of the company. All I need now is the rest of the time to finish the 3rd owner, I still have two years in your world, 6 in mine.”

“... Keep up the disappointing work, and you will be dealing with the master, not me. You have been warned… just 2 more years, that’s all the time you have left.”

*bzzt* the conversation is forcefully ended, as the crystex was destroyed in anger.

[Sebastian]

The following morning after the kidnapping attempt, I told my parents Ambrose's reason for attempting to kidnap me. After my statement, my parents quickly stared at each other with panicked expressions. When their silent conversation was finally finished, they told me all about the deed that caused the incident. It was actually in the living room, where our second hidden safe was located, behind a framed group of diplomas and other important papers they received from graduating high school and college.

'I can't believe Ambrose never found it there. Was he an idiot?'

Unfortunately, I never got the chance to actually see it. Later on that night, I snuck down stairs while still in pain to look at the deed they spoke to me about. When I reached the living room, I saw them take the deed out the safe and never put it back there. They discovered me by the door before I was able to hide and sent me back to bed. No matter how much I asked about it the next day, they wouldn’t tell me where they moved it.

The injuries I received during my fight with Ambrose, were more extensive than my family was originally led to believe. Four bruised ribs had to be taped, a concussion from the right hook I took in the face, and the puncture wound from the bat splinter which took a month to properly heal.

Later on in the day, last night's adventure was finally picked up by the news. Unfortunately, the news stations portrayed me as a violent adolescent rather than a victim and survivor of a vicious attack. That doesn’t mean they didn’t have a field day, with the fact that a 12-year-old kid beat the shit out of an adult.

The unexpected attack against their child, impacted the Reynards in more ways than one. The character attack was further supported by the aggravated assault lawsuit Ambrose filed with the claim Sebastian's attack was unprovoked and premeditated.

Due to the popularity of the disparaging remarks. Tyler's ability to lead as an owner of Alrey was called into question by Takeru, who was using the confusion Ambrose's lawsuit brought to his advantage. His claim was, if he couldn’t control his kid from attacking people unprovoked in his home how could he control a company.

All of these events were brought to a halt when the Reynards produced a video recording made by Sebastian's phone. Upon viewing the video's contents, Ambrose's lawyer's immediately tried to get it kicked out of evidence. They were successful after finally convincing the judge the video was deliberately made to discredit their client and was not properly obtained by the police with a warrant.

Unfortunately... for them, Ambrose neglected to mention the internal video surveillance located in the hallways, living room, kitchen, foyer, and spare bedroom. This video was legally obtained with a warrant issues by the very same judge. With this any hope of freedom was destroyed. Though they were able to get the first video kicked out, the second clearly recorded his intention to kidnap Sebastian.

Within the hour many news stations changed their stances on Sebastian's actions following the release of the new evidence. The loophole Ambrose left behind tore Takeru's plans to shreds.

FIELDING INNOVATIONS

[Takeru]

{BANG!}

A cell phone is smashed against the door in anger.

"THAT STUPID FOOL! Not only did he fail his task, he interfered with my backup plan as well. He needs to be dealt with, Gregory have him and his team disposed of before he takes us down with him. Donovan make sure there is nothing left to link him to us"

"Understood" "Understood"Gregory and Donovan both replied as they leaves the room.

THE NEXT DAY

[T.V. Anchor On Popular News Station]

We regret to inform you the passing of Ambrose Walters the accused in the attempted kidnapping in the Walters vs Reynards case. The cause of death was ruled suicide by strangulation. His captured accomplice Javier Renair also died of the same cause an investigation into how this occurred is underway.

[Sebastian]

After I fully recovered from my injuries, I asked my parents for permission to learn how to protect myself by taking Karate. My mother typically disagreed with my idea, she didn't agree with the saying "Get them, before they get you." Mom normally viewed violence as an obstacle to be avoided, not rushed towards, which is confusing considering how violent she is. My father was able to convince her otherwise pointing out if I knew how to protect myself, I wouldn’t be hurt as easily.

*Paradox: Give him a gun*

Unfortunately, things didn’t go the way I wanted, my father instead got Uncle Oliver to suggest I learn the martial art Aikido. When I first heard the name Aikido, I wondered what could I possibly learn from such a retardedly named martial arts. Uncle Oliver took me to a dojo somewhere in the city, to get my first taste of the martial arts. My introduction was to say at best embarrassing, I was paired up with a hot, light skinned, italian blonde, around the age of 13-14 year old girl with perky breasts dressed in a white dogi and her hair pulled into a ponytail. I arrogantly believed coming out of that fight with Ambrose, I at least knew how to protect myself to some extent, but she taught me otherwise.

After bowing before each other, the teacher started the fight. I immediately ran forward trying to take the initiative and getting the first hit, and before I hear complaints about hitting a girl remember, it’s a sparring match. Just as I came close to her position, I threw a left handed punch aimed at her stomach.

That however lead to my ass being handed to me, as she grabbed my hand with her left hand in a wrist lock, twisting my arm the to the right, while grabbing my left elbow with her right hand, using the momentum of my punch to flip me over onto my back. Before I could even react she was already behind of me, grabbing my left arm, and pulling it backwards until I yelled out in pain.

“ARRRRGH!”

“Don’t underestimate me because I’m a girl.”

Was all I heard before my face was painfully slammed back down onto the floor. When I was finally able to get up, I was then introduced to my tormentor, Julia Summers. I am annoyed to say that after trying for half a year, I never became particularly good at Aikido, the most I was able to pull off is a textbook hip throw. The rest of the time consisted of Julia using me as a rag doll to practice throwing me around, the only good thing that came out of it was that I learned how to properly roll after being flipped.

After my obvious failure to learn anything meaningful from Aikido, my wish to have my Uncle personally teach me how to properly protect myself was finally fulfilled. Even though it wasn’t Karate, Mixed Martial Arts was good too.

*Paradox: I could beat this Uncle any day of the week*

It has almost been 6 years since that fateful event that changed my outlook on life. No matter how hard they tried my father, Uncle Oliver, and Samuel were unable to find out anything concerning Ambrose’s employer. The police were no help either, deciding to rule it as a personal vendetta for reasons unknown. When the Alcott’s returned from their trip they were all shocked to find out what had occurred.(Check out Chapter 3 if you are confused)

It was actually hilarious to watch Alicia’s reaction when she saw me and the idea that Ambrose meant to do the same to their family as well.

I can honestly say that nothing as abnormal as that ever happened again and I didn’t have any serious problems a normal teenager wouldn’t have. Well... almost no problems, I did have one problem that has been getting progressively worse as the years went by.

The name of that problem being, yep you guessed it, Alicia Alcott. By time I reached the age of 15, I was actually starting to believe our parents were serious about this fiance crap. Unfortunately, It seemed Alicia believed them too, by that time we were enrolled into a private high school by the name of Schenker Academy. It really didn’t help that my mother’s prophecy came true, Alicia was 5 ft 7 with the same silky straight black hair and oriental skin, with deep sky blue eyes. The beginning of our sophomore year, Alicia got into dating with a vengeance, almost every other day she was on a date with a random guy. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and even seniors. It didn’t matter how old you were, she probably went on a date with you.

To be honest, I really didn’t care about that part. The thing that got to me is later in their relationship, the guy she was dating would always somehow hear I was her fiance and try to confront me. After the last few years of hell… *cough* I mean training my uncle gave me,I wasn’t going to lose a street fight easily. It always turned out that I would kick his ass after explaining to him that was just our parents idea not ours. For some bizarre reason they never believed me even though I already had a girlfriend.

Me, I didn’t give a damn, personally I was interested in dating Julia and forgetting our families made that promise altogether. After our spar that day, I explained to her the misconception she was having about me. I wasn’t underestimating her but overestimating my abilities and suggested she could teach me the proper way to do that move. I guess she decided to believe me, because from that day we were inseparable. It also helped that her family was also wealthy and could afford for her to enroll in Schenker too.

Julia kept warning me, Alicia was doing this on purpose, but for some reason but I couldn’t bring myself to believe her.I mean what possible reason could she have? I never gave any indication I was even remotely interested in her that way, well... not any that I knew of, so what was the point? I even told her to her face I would not be marrying her, Plus she always told me her mom would bring it up in front of them, why wouldn’t I believe that?

SCHENKER ACADEMY 1st Floor, Women’s Bathroom

Friday 1 pm December 29, 2034

[Alicia]

“What the fuck is going on!? How is it he can win against all those guys I sent after him? Why can’t he just get the shit beaten out of him, and give up?”

{Thud!}

Alicia screams as she kicks the bathroom wall, inside the woman’s bathroom at of school.

“Sebastian can put on a show all he wants, but he knows as well as I do next month we become 18, He won't be able to pretend to have a girlfriend anymore. I AM NOT GETTING ENGAGED TO THAT IDIOTIC FUCK!”

She has to quiet down as she hears voices entering the bathroom.

“I can’t believe Sebastian was able to fight off Alex of all people! I mean he is the captain of the soccer team right? So he has to be strong.”

“I know right, he has to be working out somewhere that’s the only explanation. Julia that lucky skank, how the hell did she manage to snag him before he even transferred to this school? What I wouldn’t give to take that bitch’s place.”

“It has to be Alicia doing this to him, it’s the only way this makes sense. Every single time he gets into a fight it’s because of her. Too bad Sebastian doesn’t believe that, you know for a smart guy, he is actually kinda dumb when it comes to her.”

The two females leave the bathroom not knowing the plan they set into motion with their conversation.

‘Damnit! nothing is going right now rumours are flying around that it’s my fault, ever since Ambrose almost beat the shit out of him, all those years ago he became a lot harder to figure out. You know what, that’s it since he knows how to fight, I’ll get him a fight’

SCHENKER ACADEMY, FRONT LOBBY

Friday 8pm December 29, 2034

[Sebastian]

This was the day when my life got fucked up to put it lightly. Same as usual I was waiting in the lobby for Julia to finish her Aikido club activities. It was only 2 hours long and I didn’t have anything better to do at home, so I normally stayed in the gym to shoot some hoops or run suicides until she finished. I got winded after an hour and a half and was resting near the entrance for the remaining 30 mins until my girlfriend came out.

[RING...RINNNG..]

{click}

I pick up my phone on reflex without checking to see who it was, that was my first mistake. If I had taken the time to look, I would have seen the phone that called me was Alicia’s. That’s not possible, unless she unlocked the phone and dialed the number herself. Let me explain in 2030, Verizon decided personal safety wasn’t a market that was properly exploited. After a period of studies their tech department created a software for all their phones that immediately sent alerts to all their close contacts on their phone, and nearby police officers. If the sensor in the lock screen had picked up that Alicia was distressed, I would have got an alert. If I had taken the time to think about it, I would have figured out what those clues meant.

‘Well in my defense... it’s not like I went around giving out my number to everyone, why would I feel the need to check. While I wasn't dating her, that didn’t mean I didn’t care about her, you know she was someone I grew up with.’

“If you want to see Alicia Alcott live to see tomorrow, meet me behind your school in 2 minutes….”

{dial tone}

“WHAT THE FUCK?!”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Tyrion]

“Hmm, Looks like something is about to happen, wish I had time to keep watching him, but fun times are over. I really got to get out of here now, Ajax should almost be recovered from the injuries I gave him.”

He speaks to himself out loud as he gets up from his meditation position off the carpeted floor.

‘I was only able to recover enough energy for 3 marks, thanks to finding a weakness in Azra’s shroud during this short period of time. I’m going to have to go all out, If I want to get out of here. I’m worried about Alexis something is really bothering her, but I still haven’t been able to figure out what. Every Time, I have tried to check on her this past year, All I have seen is that she is searching for something or running from something but which is it? She should know I’m still alive through our bond, even if she cannot talk to me. No… it’s something else, it’s more like she is desperate to protect something.’

'But what? Arrrgh I don’t care anymore, I’ll find out when I get out.'
