《Questline: Our Second Chance In Another World》Chapter 16: Guild Formation

Cass and Brandon retuned to the camp to find Tenjin, Felix, and Ava sitting around the campfire while they were preparing a meal.
"What are you cooking there?" Cass inquired as they both approached and took a seat.
"Felix caught some fresh game in the forest while you guys were out chasing that thing down." Tenjin replied. "Want some fresh squirrel?" Tenjin asked while holding out a plate to Cass.
"Don't mind if I do." She replied.
"So, what was it? Some kind of monster I'm guessing?" Tenjin asked.
"It's called a Night Mare." Brandon replied. "It's some kind of demon that drains your life force while you sleep by causing nightmares."
"Well that explains a lot!" Ava muttered as she was looking at her plate.
Her hands were shaking, and her skin was pale like she had just seen something horrifying. Brandon noticed a little bit of sadness in her eyes as well, and they were turning red.
Cass had sat down right next to her, and to everyone's surprise she gave her a hug and let her rest on her shoulder. "Come on Ava, we need you to eat so you can regain your strength."
Now they were all definitely surprised because of how tenderly Cass was speaking to her. They all were used to Cass being crewed, or constantly teasing people, so they were unable to hide their surprise when they saw this.
Cass chose to ignore the looks the boys had given her, and continued to comfort Ava as much as she could. She knew that she out of everyone was having the hardest time adjusting. The rest of them except for Brandon were more used to the morbidity that they had scene so far. It was unusual how quickly he adjusted to it, so she couldn't hold Ava to the same standard.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, then Brandon decided to fill in the others on what they had learned.
"We believe there is another person on the island with us." Brandon declared as he put more food on his plate. "The Night Mare had the word familiar in parenthesis next to its name, and Trinity told us this means it was probably summoned."
"We believe.." Brandon continued after taking another bite of squirrel meat and swallowing it. "that they are a demon who specializes in magic. Likely, they have a spell that allows them to summon lesser demons like this one, and they likely were hurt since Night Mares can be used to siphon HP from another person to its master. We're going to have to be a lot more careful, and we should consider establishing a permanent basecamp so we can sleep somewhere at night that secure.

"That's not a bad idea." Tenjin acknowledged. "And if this field is actually the safest place on this island, we should really consider it.
"We should probably set up some cool fortifications to." Felix added obviously excited about getting to build a base. "We should add some barricades, a few towers, a brig, maybe we can get some cannons. Oh, we can build a castle!!"
"I don't really think that's an option for us right now." Brandon replied. "But we can build a small village and a few builds that could provide us with the essentials.
"Yes, but I think we should separate everything into districts, Tenjin suggested. "I don't think we should place everything in one area that way if something happens we have somewhere to fall back to, and who knows this place could turn into a town one day if we manage to recruit other allies."
"You think we're going to build an army or something Tenjin?" Felix inquired intrigued by the prospect of adding more people to the group.
"Well possibly. I just want to make sure we're prepared for the future." Tenjin admitted
"There has to be other people we can trust who'd be willing to ally themselves with us." Brandon presumed. "And if we can find someone we can trust we should have them join us. We don't know what other threats, or what kind of people we will run across, so having a few more teammates wouldn't be a bad idea."
"As long as we all agree that we can trust them." Cass interjected. "I don't want to have to live with someone I think might stab us in the back, especially if they are higher level then us."
"That's fair." Brandon agreed with her concerns. "And I think it would be a good idea if we created a guild.
Everyone looked at Brandon, including Ava who just got out of her daze when she heard Brandon say the word guild.
"We should all join the same guild!" Brandin continued. "Then we'll be an official team, and can reap the benefits that come with being in one."
"What are the benefits anyways?" Felix asked.
"There are a ton of benefits to being in a guild." Trinity responded. "First of all, there's the Guild Hall which can serve as your base of operations. You can build the initial hall, and create several expansions as well. These include everything from sleeping quarters and a kitchen to a forge, alchemy lab, and even an apothecary."

When Trinity mentioned the guild hall everyone began to listen to her more intently.
"Could we each have our own personal quarters?" Ava asked hopeful that she would have a safe place to sleep where monsters wouldn't be able to get to her.
"Uhm well yes, but a good sized personal quarters are expensive to build." Trinity answered. "Every add-on to the hall requires a certain amount of materials, and for there to be space for it. If you place to many buildings next to each other there won't be anywhere for them to expand, and you can only move a building once after it has been placed."
"That'll work perfectly." Brandon rejoiced as he considered all the benefits to a guild hall. "If we just place a general living quarters we can stay there until we are ready to place our own personal houses, and even afterwards if we find people who already have a house somewhere else, but want to join us we can have them stay there.
"What are we going to name our guild then boss?" Felix asked directing his question towards Brandon.
"Yeah, what should our name guilds name be guild master?" Tenjin asked urging Brandon to answer Felix's question.
"What, you guys want me to be the leader!?" Brandon replied surprised by their willingness to give him the responsibility.
"Well yeah duh, you're the one whose been leading us so far." Felix reminded him. "Nobody else was really comfortable taking the lead at first, but you managed to bring us all together, and even lead the charge to take out the goblins back in the cave."
"I agree with them." Cass concurred.
"So do I." Ava added.
Tenjin saw Brandon turn towards him looking to get his opinion.
"You're the boss, we'll follow your lead from now on. Just don't expect us to let you become some all-powerful dictator though. We are still a team, and that means our opinions mean something." Tenjin asserted.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure I take the needs of the entire group into account when making plans." Brandin assured them. "And I think I have a good idea for a name for our guild too."
"Well, come on boss let us hear it." Felix commanded eager to hear what Brandon had to say.
"We're going to call ourselves Crimson Dawn!"
"Why that?" Cass inquired curious about the different choice of words used in the name.
Brandon began to explain his reasoning to them, Dawn because it's a new beginning for us. We're in a new world, and we're getting to live new lives. I chose crimson because the color represents courage. I want our guild to inspire hope in this violent world!!! And it sounds cool."
"Wait really?" Cass asked expecting there to have been more behind his choice.
"I think it's awesome!" Felix shouted while pumping his fist. "We're going to be the strongest guild in the whole world!"
"I like the sound of that!" Tenjin proclaimed in agreement with Felix's declaration that they'd become the strongest guild.
"Well, I guess if that's what everyone wants to go with its fine with me." Ava half-heartedly agreed while shrugging her shoulders.
"Yeah sure, why not. I think it's a pretty good name." Cass convinced herself.
"Alright then!" Brandon proclaimed triumphantly as he stood up in front of the whole group. "Tomorrow morning we will form our new guild, agreed?"
Tenjin and the others looked up at Brandon with both admiration, and excitement at the potential new adventures they were looking forward to experiencing together as a guild.
"Sounds good boss!" Tenjin re-affirmed while pledging to himself that he would do everything in his power to protect his guild mates, and make their guild something to be proud of.
