《The Hero Transfered Me In Another World》7 - World of Magic

There was a small line of people waiting on whatever the man with eyeglasses has to offer. They were all holding a paper with strange marking written on it and some entered the curtain door behind. Meanwhile, on the other corner, there was a long queue female receptionist on the desk job.
This place is a lot quieter than the floor down below with fewer people carrying their weapons and fewer crowds. Although, I'm still getting stared at.
"Next."
The only clear and audible voice you could hear was the man with eyeglasses indicating to move.
Shimomura guided me to the long line while Yukio was looking for a place to sit and wait. It looks like he's planning to stick around.
After 20 minutes of waiting in line...
It was finally my turn after the long wait. Shimomura told me, while we were queueing up in the line, to ask the receptionist for a Magic Aptitude Test reception.
I did what was instructed and the receptionist has given me a document to fill up.
'Well, this is complicated. I can't read this nor write. I can try and ask Shimomura for help but currently, she's in a bathroom break. It would take too long and people behind me would probably get mad. I have no choice but to ask for help.'
"Excuse me miss. I can't read and write. Could I have someone else to do it for me."
"No problem. Just give me the paper and answer the questions." Miss receptionist easily accepted my request and handle it herself.
'I guess it's not uncommon for people not to be able to read or write.'
"Name?"
"S'lva"
"Salva?"
"S'lva"
"Come again?"
"Silva" I went with Silva because It seems my name can never be pronounced properly.
"Age?"
"23"
"Gender?"
"Male"
"Mentor"
"None"
"Any Guild card?"
"None"
"Ok, that was everything Silva-san. You can proceed to the Aptitude Test."
'That was quicker than I expected.'
She gave me the same paper that I saw people holding a while ago at the opposite corner.
Taking a close look at the paper, a tree with six fruits of different colours was printed. I assume these fruits represent the said Elements of Magic.
I went to the corner as the receptionist told me to. There was no line so I was able to proceed right away to the glasses guy.
"Give me the 'Spirit's Inscription' before you enter." He said while reading the book in his hand.
I supposed the one he was referring to was the paper given by Miss Receptionist. I put it on top of the desk waiting for him to take it.
He just hovered his free hand on top of the Spirit's Inscription before handing it back to me.

"You can now go in"
...
I entered the other side of the curtain door. It was rather large space in comparison to how it was viewed outside. Looking carefully, A larger version of the illustration in the Spirit's Inscription was drawn on the ground. Along with it was a podium placed in the middle of the tree.
One thing that bothered me though was the two people standing near the podium.
"What are you both doing here?"
"We got tired of waiting and decided to watch you take the test. Besides, It's always interesting to see the Spirits in action." It was Yukio who answered my question.
"And you're allowed here?"
"Don't worry. My uncle is friends with Teruo-sensei. He permitted us to be here." This time, it was Shimomura who respond.
"Since both of you are here, what am I going to do next?"
"Just place the Inscription on this apparatus and pour a single drop of your blood. It will then gauge your aptitude in each Each element."
I did what Shimomura told me to. The Inscription was sucked in like a metal
attracted to a magnet. Next, I poke my index finger lightly using the small knife I borrowed from Yukio.
It took a minute before anything happened afterward.
*Hush~*
A weird sound echoed in my ears. After a few seconds of it becoming louder, I realized the sounds were coming from my mind literally.
My head starts to hurt although it wasn't enough to make me faint or exclaim In pain. It seems I'm the only one experiencing this since Shimomura and Yukio are both looks unbothered.
*Hush~*
Another weird thing has happened. This time, we were surrounded by six ghostly figures. Every one of them has the same were floating on the Element of their respective colours.
"The World's Essences are represented by these Elemental Spirits. What's interesting though is how these Spirits have their own specified personalities. That's why we often tend to judge people by their Magic."
Shimomura spoke out loud during the strange phenomenon. I never saw her so interested like this before. (Although we pretty much just met)
"Spirit of Fire tends to be passionate and hot-tempered.
Spirit of Water is wise but more often, selfish element.
Spirit of Earth is known to be tough and stubborn.
Spirit of Wind is confident with the tendency to be impulsive.
Spirit of Light is patient but has a passive attitude.
And Spirit of Darkness is a timid and cowardly element.
It is still being studied whether we are chosen by certain elements because of our personality or our personality change because we are chosen by the element."
Shimomura points at the Spirits as she describes their personality one by one. Though it doesn't change the fact these called 'Spirits' are not in any form of creatures I know of.

*plop*
Now this time, a golden object in the shape of an apple starts to appear on the top of the podium.
"What's this for?"
"This will tell you if you're compatible with a certain element. Offer this fruit to the Spirits. When it will bite your fruit, it means your compatible with that element. When the fruit is completely consumed, it will mark the end of this test."
"So, it's only one out of these six who will take my fruit?"
"No. Rather, it is common to have two Spirits biting the fruit. There are also instances where three or more Spirits have chosen you. Like me for an example, I was chosen by three Spirits; the Spirits of Light, Water, and Fire."
While Shimomura was explaining, the first Spirit began to move. The Spirit of Fire took the first bite of my golden apple.
It took another small bite before it was satisfied. For some reason, I could feel passion and impatience when the Spirit of Fire bit.
'I guess this is the personality of the Spirits Shimomura talked about.'
It didn't take a while before another Spirit went near. This time, it was the Spirit of Earth that went at it.
"Damn, I thought we could be the same." Yukio suddenly commented.
"If you're wondering, mine is Fire and Wind."
After the quick remark of Yukio, the Spirit of Wind went ahead and moved forward. It immediately took the bite without any hesitation.
"You also got three Spirits to be compatible with you. At this level, you're already above the average mages. Of course, you still need to develop these to be a mage at a high level."
The Spirits were not done yet. Both Spirit of Water and Light moved at the same time although the Spirit of Light gave way to the Spirit of Water to bite through the fruit first.
It soon followed after a little piece of the fruit was left.
Nothing was left of the golden apple. However, the Spirits remained idle and the test doesn't give any indication of stopping anytime soon.
I tried to ask Shimomura whether there were any problems but I was only greeted with shocked faces.
'I think I know the reason why they're surprised.'
"WHAT THE HELL!!! DID YOU REALLY JUST HAVE FIVE SPIRITS GO AFTER YOU!?!?
Shimomura exclaimed on top of her lungs while Yukio still had his mouth open. Having five Spirits to go after me seem a bigger deal than I thought.
"Ahem~ Sorry I got so excited." It looks like Shimomura has somewhat calmed down.
"It's just that having someone compatible with five elements only appears once in a blue moon in the whole history of magic. Many of these few mages have certainly reached the peak of Grand Magus Rank. "
Shimomura went on and on with her praise on how it's a mage dream to be someone like me. She doesn't stop until it reaches the point of being scary. Thankfully, Yukio interrupted with his pretty boy voice.
"Woooooow!!! You're amazing Silva. Every Spirit except the Spirit of Darkness has come to you. Now I'm more curious about your history"
He said something that I should really be careful on. Now I have another thing to worry about, I don't want to complicate things by telling them I'm a demon.
"It's better for the Spirit of Darkness to not move at all. Every mage of the Darkness has only Darkness as their element." Shimomura added.
The scene has become rather chaotic with both of them talking in each turn and the Spirits roaming around the room.
"May I ask something, Miss Shimomura?"
"Hm? What is it?"
"Is the test done?"
"Now that you mention it, it's strange that the Spirits have yet to disappear."
The Spirits, as if it heard us, began to move violently except for one. I could hear low groans coming from the Spirits. The Spirit of Darkness that was just standing the whole time began to move towards the Spirits.
*CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
It ate them one by one, leaving no traces behind. I couldn't detect any timidness or cowardliness personality Shimomura described. All I could feel was hunger and anger from the Spirit of Darkness.
This strange phenomenon was also unusual for Shimomura and Yukio as they were aghast. The once crowded room has become half in a short period.
Now double the size, the Spirit of Darkness bowed down in front of me before it entered my body.
"..."
Everyone was silent for a while, including me. Unlike their excited faces before, it was now replaced by fear.
"What just happened?" I tried to break the uncanny atmosphere.
"You're now a mage of darkness magic," Yukio said dejectedly.
I suppose that's how the test should have ended. Not the Spirits going on a rampage but rather the Spirits entering my body. I definitely feel changes within myself although I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing.
I want to ask Shimomura as she is the one expert when it comes to these things but now she is just shocked in horror. Even after we left the test room, she still cannot believe what happened.

Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.

Demonizing Matters
A high fantasy drama about a young woman who finds out a demon secret. This secret sparks a growing conflict between demons and humans. While trying to save her own life and dealing with the unexpected consequences of her actions, she falls in love with a hated demon. We follow the drama of Lita, alongside a cast of several other POV characters, as she discovers secrets (both open and purposefully hidden), makes well intentioned but sometimes disastrous decisions, and encounters prejudices and truths. Demons may be evil… or not. Humans may be good… or not. God is aloof… or not. Publishing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is my first real work! Super excited to be publishing! I don’t spend a lot of time describing gore, sex, trauma or any other type of scene that would be labeled as mature. I've labeled the story as mature in every way more because I don't quite understand the standard and don't know if I've crossed the line at all (and I'd rather be safe than get my story rejected for under labeling ;)). Mostly I hint, start the scene then interrupt/fade out, and in general let the reader know it happens but without making it too explicit. (I’d love to hear how I did on this! And if it was still entertaining/informative without being traumatizing.) This is what I prefer to read myself so that’s what I write. I’m not apologizing. ;) If I mislabeled my mature content it was by accident. And, yes, the pacing was also on purpose. Beyond that, I welcome any feedback you want to give! Enjoy the story!
