Mithandra explained the structure of the world to Kynos as she guided him halfheartedly around the primary school campus.

Kynos was now in the Mage City-State Incanta. Incanta was part of a coalition of city-states that occupied the eastern half of the continent of Alva, including a large amount of island city-states. Incanta itself was landlocked, although a large river ran right through it. There were several kingdoms on the west side of the Alvan Mountains, including the Holy Kingdom Deiarcha.

There were two other continents, a smaller continent named Zalta to the far West that only has the Zaltan Imperium ruling it, and a large continent to the south which connected to the other two by land, named Ladria.

In regards to religion, there is a polytheistic one which is not worshiped too seriously that covers most of the islands to the east of Incanta, and the city-states within the vicinity of Incanta have no set religion. Incanta itself worships no gods, but does acknowledge that the various churches and shrines have power outside of the realm of normal magic. The Imperium only allows the worship of the emperor from their citizens, and Ladria has several different religions with varying tolerance for others based on region.

The religion, or rather, the god Kynos and Mithandra were after, was worshiped in the west of Alva, calling itself the Church of the One God. It's a monotheistic religion that claims there is only one god and it created all other things, including the gods of the other religions. Since all the worshiped religions have demonstrated specific holy magic, it couldn't just discount the other gods, so it made them into demi-gods. This belief obviously made them unpopular, so the clergy tailored its doctrines to reward common peasants rather than the wealthy or the powerful. However, those rewards are all after death, and since there's no resurrection magic, no one has confirmed if any of them exist. The countries became kingdoms ruled by the nobles and bound to the authority of the church.

In time, a particularly violent sect appeared, naming themselves as the Crusade of the True God. That particular sect, on top of the original doctrines, does not consider the the other gods to be gods at all, hence their endless wars with the Imperium. They war against other countries too, albeit more rarely, due to the interference of the mountain range completely cutting them off from the east side of Alva and the land bridge to Ladria.

Mithandra didn't give a reason about why she wanted to kill that particular god, but she also didn't ask Kynos his. They had reached an agreement to build trust first.
