《Beauty Perspective》Prologue

A twenty two year old young man is sick and dying in a hospital bed. His grandfather sadly watching him.
"I don't understand, grandfather. I did everything you told me too. It didn't work and now I'm dying, because of parasites. You said that eating the hearts of my kills would make me stronger. Did I do something wrong? Did I upset the ancestors? What did I do wrong?"
"I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
"What do you mean, grandfather?"
"I lied. Everything I told you was a lie. When you were ten years old, I just wanted to play a joke with you. It went so well, that I wanted to see how long it would take for you to realize the truth. I didn't think it would hurt you. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." The old man broke down crying.
After a few moments, the young man spoke. "Please get me my hunting knife."
"There's no need to do something like that."
"I don't know what your thinking, but I always feel better holding my knife. Please."
The old man thought for a minute. "Alright." He went to a bag and pulled out a big hunting knife with a leather sheathe. "Here."
As soon as the young man grabbed it, he clutched it to his chest dearly. "Please go away. I need to think." As the old man left, the young man called out. "Come back in the morning." Then he turned away from his grandfather.
....
The next day when the old man returned, he saw another man in the room.
"Dad, is this your fault? Did you kill my son?" He said with disbelief.
"I didn't mean for this to happen."
The other man looked away.

"Grandfather, please come here." The young man called out weakly. When he looked at him, he looked even worse than yesterday. Laying there holding his leather sheath.
The old man walked over. "Yes?"
"Closer please. It hurts to raise my voice." He said weakly.
The old man step right next to him and leaned over.
The young man smiled. "I believe I might someday forgive you for what you did. But for now there's something I need to do."
"What is it?" He said as he leaned closer.
The young man quickly raised his right arm and stabbed the old man in the chest. The old man fell down and stared at the knife in his chest. The other turned to look at what happened in shock.
The young man rolled out of bed and grabbed the knife. He repeatedly stabbed the old man over and over. Then he fell over clutching his chest. The other man continued staring in shock. When he broke from his shock, he called out for help.
The young man's vision faded as he was over come with sleep.

Hi Everyone, If you want to learn a little bit more about the book before deciding whether to read it, I've included a bullet point list of some of the things that the story features: -A strong but not overpowered protagonist. -Magic -Characters that make reasonable decisions and have more personality than a box of cardboard. -A standard litrpg progression with plenty of level ups and blue screens. -A highly customizable Skill system. For example, with enough Skill Points, Mana Bolt can be upgraded to shoot out multiple orbs at once, follow targets to become undodgeable, or simply hit harder. Anything is possible with the right combination of Skill Paths. -Interesting fight scenes -A morally grey main character. They’re not mustache-twirling levels of evil, but they’re no stranger to crime. -The apocalypse -Frequent updates
