《Another life》Chapter 7: Book of Wisdom

‘You have got to be kidding me.’
Ok, is there any chance that this is an omniscient book, that can talk and guide me as I go through this journey call life?
… yeah, there's no way right? I mean what are the odds that this is a talking book in the first place.
‘What are you thinking about human’
Another voice resounded on my head. Wow,must be one of those “many unexplained voice in my head” day.
‘Answer me!’
Ahh, the sound just got louder and angrier. Wonder if he's mad about something.
‘Human, answer me already. It's pretty tiring to wait you know.’
‘Umm, are you talking to me?’
‘Who do you think I'm talking to?’
Meh, make sense. It's not like there's a lot of people who can hear someone's voice through their head or something.
‘Soo, can you tell me where you are? Cause talking to someone who isn't here, is pretty uncomfortable you see.’
‘Foolish human, have you not realize who I am?’
‘Umm, no? That's why I asked you to show yourself.’
‘You can't even figure it out? As I expect, you humans truly are foolish.’
‘Just answer me.’
‘Very well. I am the Book of Wisdom, the holder of knowledge and wisdom of the world.’
Huh, who knew that It's legit. Really, who knew? I always thought that things like this are just a myth, then again I am in another world with magic and fantasy creatures.
‘Hmph, are you so amazed that you can't speak?’
‘Sort of. Anyway if you're the “holder of knowledge and wisdom of the world” then you can answer a few things right?’
‘Of course I can. Come on, on with it.’
Hmm, I wonder what should I ask about. Alchemy? Advance magic? Meh, it's not like I'll be in any disadvantage nor whatsoever.

‘Then can you tell me the basic skills of Alchemy?’
‘Hahaha, you're holding a book that contain knowledge, and wisdom of the world yet all you ask is for a mere basics of Alchemy?’
‘Umm, yeah?’
It's not like I'm interested in anything else you know, for now at least.
‘Fufufu, either you're the most interesting human I've met in my life or you're the dumbest one.’
‘I think I'm the interesting one. I'm not stupid, I mean I can already use mental arithmetic quite easily.’
‘Is that so? Well whatever I don't really care.’
‘Well that's harsh, anyway how do you teach me the basic? Is it like you're telling me telepathically, or are you just gonna-’
‘Like this.’
The next second without even knowing how, I ended up in a room filled with books, and papers.
I don't see my body anywhere, and I don't recognize the place. When I tried to touch something it goes right through me. After a few seconds a man showed up, and start making a potion using Alchemy.
From drawing the circles, to the procedure, and even until the result I saw everything, and somehow able to comprehend it. Even I don't know why and how I ended up understand it.
After the image (or should I say the movie) came to an end I'm back in the libary.
‘What did you-’
In the next second I fell on my knees, and doesn't have any strength to stand. As if my whole energy just, disappear.
‘Hmm, I'm surprised you're still conscious. Most people would've probably die, or stay unconscious for a few weeks if they're lucky enough.’
Die? Stay unconscious? What the heck is he talking about?
‘Explain.’
I asked in a cold tone. Even I can be mad, after knowing I can die from that.

‘Alright, alright. Remember the image you saw when you ask me to teach you Alchemy?’
‘Yeah, what does that has to do with it.’
‘Well, how should I put it. You know magic weapons right?’
‘Yeah so?’
‘Think of me as a magic weapon, and try figure it out.’
I pondered at what he said to me. Magic weapons, think of him as a magic weapon huh?
If what I remember is correct, then magic weapons are weapons who can amplify the user’s power, and give a special attribute/ cast a magic by using mana.
And he told me to treat him like a magic weapon, which mean that the image I saw was his skill...Wait, don't tell me.
‘So you're telling me that the image I saw was your skill, and in order to activate that skill you use my mana as the cost?’
‘I'm not sure I'm telling you about anything, but basically yeah.’
Seriously? You're telling me just from a single skill I almost used all of my mana?
I'm pretty sure the amount of mana I used to practice everyday doesn't reach that much.
‘You look quite shock aren't you?’
‘Obviously, I mean who wouldn't be shocked knowing that they can die just because of a single skill mana consumption.’
‘True, so is there anything else master?’
Huh? Did he just call me master? What's up with that?
‘What's wrong master?’
‘Umm, why are you calling me master?’
‘Because you're the one who picked me up.’
‘Then isn't grandpa suppose to be your master?’
‘Hahaha, I forgot about it. You see, to become my master you need to fulfill 2 conditions.’
Fulfill 2 conditions? Why the heck does someone need to fulfill 2 conditions just to be your master?
‘So? What are the conditions?’
‘The first one, is that you need to have a huge amount of Mana just to hear me. While the second one, you need be alive after you experience the ‘image’’
‘You mean the one I saw before?’
‘Yeah, first I show the image of which you desire, show it to you, and if you live you become my master. Easy and simple right?’
It's true for the simple part, but for the easy part I think you're just being sarcastic.’
“Allen, are you done yet?” (Grandpa)
I can hear grandpa voice as he get closer. Guess need to wrap this up.
‘Well it's I put you back to the shelf. It'll be bad if grandpa saw you and know what you can do.’
‘Master, just imagine me being stored inside your body. That way you can summon me, and remove me as you wish.’
‘Why?’
‘Because it's boring in here, and it's one of my duties to stay by my master side.'
‘Fair enough, are you sure it'll work?’
‘Definitely.’
I did what he just told me and imagine him being stored in my soul. It's tricky but I manage to do it in the end. Quickly after I did that grandpa came.
When he did, I grab the book about Alchemy, and then grandpa ask me all sorts of questions about the book.
I didn't exactly read the book, so I get it wrong every time. Since we have an agreement I can't read anything than those story books because I failed to answer all of his questions, but that's not a problem though.
Afterall I got this talking book, who is a thousand times more helpful than a normal one. Probably.
