《Chaos uploaded》Chapter 02 - Beginner's woods

Nysa POV
"Now, it is finally time for adventuring!" I shouted, carefreely as I waved the sword around. Before adventuring, there was something else I wish to do, though.
"Stats!" I shouted, deciding to know my situation right now, rather than later. It was critical to know what I could, and what I couldn't do, right? After all, even though this is a game world, I shouldn't be rushing just yet.

Traits
Fae body
Tiny size
"Wait...what is this..." I mumbled, and then I examined the tiny body trait, out of mere curiosity.
Tiny body size
TypePhysicalRating:★★☆☆☆
Because of your smaller size, you are extremely nimble, but at the same time, your constitution and damage are lowered.
CON and ATK are halved
AGI and DEX are doubled
"That...is interesting." I said, mumbling awkwardly. How did she forget about that? Well, at least I have increased agility and dexterity, meaning that my speed is better than most.
So now I was wandering around the forest, where even the grass was large enough to barely reach my knees."Gueez, somebody must not have heard of a lawn mower!" I complained, nearly shouting, only for a black shadow to cover me.
I looked up to see the source of the darkness...and I instantly regretted it.It was a massive butterfly, just barely smaller than mine. W-well...it might be a legendary one...hehe...
Even then, my face only paled even further, as I saw a bird flying through the skies, and swooping the butterfly with its claws. Maybe that was the king bird, right? The king bird would always be bigger than the queen butterfly...probably.
As soon as the bird landed on a branch, it was ambushed by a large snake, being eaten whole in seconds. "...How many legendaries I'll see here, I wonder." Nysa mumbled to herself, still in denial that she was the small one. Even then, her next sight just made her shake in fear, as the tree next to the snake seemingly turned alive, and captured the snake within its branches, and began to eat its newly-caught prey. I-I'm a the bottom of the food chain, it seems...
Maybe that big tree dude could help me? Or maybe he wasn't sentient? He was awfully content with eating the snake raw, although it made sense for him to not cook: He was a tree, after all.

My thoughts were interrupted, as an orange fell from the tree, and landed right in front of me."...that...was close." I mumbled, staring at the fruit that nearly took my life.Even the fruits could kill me in this forest! The orange was so big, I'd need both arms to carry it! but then I heard a chittering noise from the other direction...
It was a squirrel. A level 1 critter, probably a joke for anybody who knows how to hold a sword. Easy enough, eh? I mean, it doesn't look that tough, being 1ft tall. But I was not a normal player. I was a tiny fae, barely as big as the squirrel, and I apparently was between his meal and him."Uh...don't worry, I'm not threatening, I am not harming you, don't worry, no need to worry." I said, backing away a bit...and then I slipped, falling over the orange.
The rodent didn't let the opportunity be wasted, and tried to jump on top of me, to pin me down! Screaming and shutting my eyes, I held my wooden sword forward to protect myself. Through some sort of miracle, the squirrel landed right on the sword's tip, although since it was made out of wood, it wasn't sharp enough for the rodent to impale itself on it.
"C-calm down, i-it is just a smelly rodent..I can't lose this early..." I mumble to myself as I stood up with shaky legs. Every step I took back, though, the squirrel took two towards me. It seemed that he was determined to hunt me, especially after I hit him like that.
And another, simple charge towards me. Even if it was simple, to the point of other players being able to easily counter it, it wasn't so simple at my size! Without any hesitation, I pointed the sword ahead again, but this time the squirrel had learnt its lesson, and jumped over it, on top of me.
"I'm dead! I'm so dead!" I shouted, as I was forced back down due to the squirrel's weight, and deciding to not be bitten, I attempted a simple, suicidal tactic: Break the enemy's head with mine, before its jaws can break my head. And so, I used a head-butt against him, before he could bite.
No wonder it was one of the weakest mobs in the game, since even that was enough to stun him. After that, I rolled to get on top of the rodent, to get in a better position. So many close calls, this fight felt closer to a mini-boss than a mere critter! Noticing that the squirrel had recovered from the stun, I decided to stun him again, but with the sword's handle this time. Repeating the process over and over, I made sure to not give him an opportunity to fight back.

"...I won..." I mumbled, under my breath as I fell down onto the squirrel's fluffy corpse, exhausted. Thankfully, he wasn't bleeding too much, otherwise I'd be soaked in it by now...the squirrel was truly a good bed, with all that fluff. Now to ponder on what I can do...

Notes: Blue birds are one of the weakest wild birds that can be found, but are still a threat nonetheless.Studies show that they are relatively docile towards beings who live in the ground, but often hunts small insects for sustenance. Considered the king of the forest, such being should not be angered lightly, unless one has a death wish. While possible to defeat, one must not do so without preparation. He is often friendly towards wildlife and adventures, but occasionally he decides to take a 'friendly bite' out of the nearby animal when the hunger hits.

Author's note: Yay, the pace is finally picking up now! I decided to, instead of restricting myself to just 1k words or so, I'll write a chapter until I find the events it covered satisfying, to avoid filler.Surprisingly enough, this was quick to write.Don't expect double-releases today, even though I posted this much earlier than usual! =D
PS: Should I continue with the bestiary thingy in the way it is? Or should I, instead, just post the monsters that Nysa herself defeated?
EDIT: Oh gods, just realized how filler-ish this chapter is.A whole chapter just to fight one single squirrel?! XD Alright, I'll try to give you all a double-post tonight.(No promises though) Advertisement Previous

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
