《A virtual reality game according to a martial artist otaku》Chapter 1

A bright light blinded him. Squinting his eyes, he saw a person standing in front of him. "Hello and welcome to Endless online." the person said "I am in charge of character creation."
"First off, what is your character going to be called?" John thought about it and replied "I want to be called Kira." Another bright light and standing in front of him were three humans. Correction, one human, anelf and a beastman. "What race do you want to play as?" the person-in-charge-of-character-creation asked. "Human." came the immediate reply .
John, no, Kira had read many light novels and knew that humans were the most versatile race. Elves were better in magic and archery and they also had high intelligence. Beastmen were physically stronger and thus more effective in close combat but had less magic and less intelligence. Kira wanted to be a magic swordsman; a mixture of both wizard and warrior. A close combat mage, if you will.
"I have a couple more questions left. Would you like to customize your character?"
"No keep me as I am." Kira had a rather good build; tall with robust muscles due to his martial arts. Brown hair with piercing eyes and an apparently handsome face. He thinks apparently because his mother says so but aren't all mothers supposed to say that? Anyway, Kira liked his appearance but he did understand why some people changed their appearance.
"Where would you like to start?"
"I don't know any names but please place me in a city where there are few players as possible but with moderate enemies a level one can beat." He had no wish to spawn in a town where level 50 undead roamed.
"Wish granted. Have a nice playing experience, Kira."
Another bright light and suddenly he found himself falling from the sky. Righting himself, he felt that he had no parachute. The ground was getting suspiciously closer. Closer. Closer and closer until WHAM he landed on his feet. Strangely there was no fall damage and landing only felt as though he had just gotten out of bed. "HELL YEAH!" When the adrenaline rush finally caught up, he wanted to go again. That's the thing about adrenaline. It activates during dangerous situations and during this time you wish you were somewhere else but when you're not in danger, you want to go again.

Once he had finally calmed down, Kira did the first thing anyone would do: "Status." A table full of numbers and characters appeared.
Name: Kira Race:Human
Level: 1 Title: N/A
Health: 100 Mana capacity
Strength: 15 Vitality:15
Agility: 13 Stamina:20
Wisdom: 20 Intelligence: 20
Passive skills: N/A Active skills: N/A
Items: Equipped: Beginner's trousers, beginner's shirt, beginner's shoes, beginner's dagger.
Inventory: Bread x5
There was everything you would expect from a level one player. Kira then decided that it was not the best time to be dawdling around. Walking off, he saw NPCs looking at him, whispering. 'Please don't let it be like that novel where the NPCs hated players. I don't want to be the killer of a city.' Walking up to one of the guards, Kira asked if there was a training ground nearby. "Yeah if you go in that direction, you would find it quickly enough."
'Damn they sound like real people.' Thanking the guard, Kira jogged in the direction he was pointed at. Whilst he was jogging, he saw the streets bustling with life; merchants that were selling goods were competing with each other, women and children were shouting and men were getting dunk. 'Quite the fun place.'
Once he got to the place where it said in massive letters "ADVENTURER CENTER" he found himself entering quite quickly. Walking up to the counter, he saw the receptionist. She was a pretty girl with unusually white hair with a short ponytail that stopped her hair from falling over her face. "Hello, are you a newcomer?" She asked him. "Yes I would like to register to the training course." Nodding, the girl shouted a another white haired girl, presumably her sister. "Lis, we go another one who wants to do the training."

"Ok. Oi, adventurer-wannabe, follow me." Following after Lis, he was led to a wide area where a large man was shouting at some trainees.
"COME ON YOU PUSSIES! YOU CALL YOURSELF MEN?!" Lis calmly walked up and and said to the still angry man "Hey brother you got another one."
Immediately calming down, the brother looked at Kira. "Alrighty. Are you sure? If you refuse, I won't say anything, but if you sign up and decide to quit, I will personally make your life hell."
"Yes I am pretty sure." Kira replied with confidence. "Alright. By the end of this training you WILL be a man! NOW ALL OF YOU HIT THESE DUMMIES 100 TIMES!" Groaning the trainees obliged. Kira, however, was used to these types of training and immediately took a standard stance with the sword pointing diagonally. Lifting the sword, he put all of his power into the hit. THWACK.THWACK.THWACK. The sound of a wooden sword resounded across the training hall in quick succession.
After around 5 minutes, Kira finally stopped. *Ding* a notification sounded. He had apparently gained 10 strength by swinging the sword 100 times!
The other trainees looked at him in awe. Some of them were still in their 30s. Apparently impressed, the trainer walked up. "Well done. I never expected you were already trained in the art of the sword. As a result, your sword mastery goes up to beginner level 9. You skipped 9 levels and you only need one more level to go to intermediate. It only gets harder from here on out." Looking at his skills and notification, what the white haired trainer said to him was true: his sword mastery was indeed level 9! "Alright you may have impressed them but you haven't impressed me; you're sweating. A true expert would be sweaty, they wouldn't have even broken a sweat! RUN 100 LAPS AND WORK ON YOUR STAMINA! THE REST OF YOU, GET BACK TO WORK YOU DIMWITS!"

Jalan Suram : The 100 Fire Holders
"Why us?" Still staring at the unusually stationary fire of the candle he was holding, Agung voiced the questions in our mind. "Out of 2 million people living in this city, why are we the chosen ones?" As if on cue, the eerie laughter of children could be heard above us. Holding our own candle tightly, we resolved to ignore them and continued our discussion. It was a matter of life or death after all. More than half of the initial participants had fallen and the building became more crowded as the result. There were now more ghosts than the living and each step was filled with danger from the unknown. Either we solved all the questions now or we would become another addition to the ghost camp. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was one thing Novita found out after she accepted an invitation to a suspicious event from a seemingly legal company. Crowded didn't exactly mean safe. As more and more variables were added to the dangerous ritual, the higher the risk of death.
