Hello, my name is Jacob. Tomorrow is my 14th birthday and the day I become an adult.

In our world, the day that you become 14 years old, you are old enough to choose a class. You can get a class from class crystals; there are a lot of different classes.

Because most class crystals are really expensive, when youths turn 14 years old they receive their first two class crystals from the mayor.

I worked really hard in my parent’s park, all in order to obtain a fortuitous opportunity. My parent’s park is unusual in that it has a park crystal, a distant cousin of the dungeon crystal, thus making it a unique existence

While dungeon crystals spawn monsters and corrupt the environment, park crystals work together with its master and help the environment to grow. Park crystals grow together with their masters and their park heavily depends upon them.

That is why there are many more parks than dungeons; parks are protected by the masses whilst dungeons are destroyed by them. Tomorrow is the day that I get my own park crystal! I will be able to use the money saved from attempting to purchase better class crystals from the mayor to buy land, equipment, and other necessary things.

I am really excited for tomorrow but all I can do is try to sleep. Oh, I almost forgot to mention: tomorrow is also the day my status screen is unsealed! After hours of tossing and turning, I eventually managed to drift off into a peaceful slumber.

The next morning.

“Wake up Jacob, breakfast is ready,”

I heard Mom yelling.

To which I answered,

“Yes, mom! I’m on my way,”

then I heard my mom say,

“Don’t forget to brush your teeth sweetie,”

I answered with,

“Yes, Mom I will do that,”

I got ready for breakfast and brushed my teeth. Then I walked downstairs and opened the door to the dining room.

Then I hear a lot of people yell,

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

To which I said with a big smile on my face,

“Thanks, everyone,”

Waiting downstairs, with radiant smiles, were my parents, my grandparents, my little brother Andrew, my little sister Isabel, and my best friend Jake.

Then I heard Isabel say while walking towards me with a small box wrapped up in wrapping paper,

“Big brother, I have a present for you I hope you like it,”

I said my thanks to Isabel and hurriedly opened the box.

Inside the box was a magic notebook that makes new pages using your mana and a magic pen that makes new ink using your mana.

And said to her while patting her head,

“Thanks, I really like it.”

To which she said with a big smile,

“I am glad that you like it, big brother.”

Then I heard my little brother Andrew say while barely containing his enthusiasm,

“Now it is my turn big bro, this is my present,”

He gave me a big box which I quickly opened, finding that it contained mana stones and some materials for the park. Manna stones are stones that come from a place with a huge amount of mana. They can be used to make your park crystal grow and to construct enchanted items.

As I was done unboxing the present I said,

“Thanks, Andrew! These are really useful,”

To which he answered with a smirk on his face,

“You are welcome big bro,”

Then Jake came to me and gave me his present and said,

“Happy birthday dude! Here is my present. It is something that I know you really wanted.”

I answered with,

“Thanks, Jake,”

When I opened the present, I saw that it contained 30 mana stones and... 20 gold coins!

In our world, the currency is universally gold, silver, and copper.

100 copper coins are equal to 1 silver coin.

100 silver coins are equal to 1 gold coin.

100 gold coins are equal to 1 platinum coin

The average family uses 3 gold coins a year on living expenses. However, maintaining a park costs about 6 gold coins a week. The reason Jake could afford to gift me 20 gold coins was that his parents are rich and famous magic researchers.

I then said with a gaping mouth and widened eyes,

“Thanks, Jake! I really appreciate it.”

Suddenly I heard Jake laugh while laughing he said,

“Glad you like it.”

Then my grandpa and grandma came to me and said with a confident smile,

“Happy birthday Jacob Here is our gift. We know that you will like it,”

I opened the present quickly and found 2 gift cards worth 30 gold coins each inside. The first one was for the bookshop and the second one was for the park shop. The park shop is a shop where you could buy park crystals and special skill books. Then I yelled out of happiness,

“Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa, I love it,”

then they said with a warming smile,

“We are glad that you like it, Jacob.”

Then I heard mom say,

“Before you get our present, let’s all eat

breakfast first,”

To which I said,

“Yes, mom. Bon appetit!”

They then said,

“Thanks, Bon appetit!”

Then we all started to eat. The meal was delicious and now it is time for the present from mom and dad.

After the meal my mom and dad said,

“We will be right back with the present,”

They walked out of the room and returned in 5 minutes with a couple of presents.

And said while smiling,

“ Jacob, these are our presents for you,”

Just as I wanted to open them my mom said,

“Oh, look at the time! We are getting late for your coming of age ceremony! Let’s go to the town plaza; sorry Jacob you may open your presents later.”

To which I said,

“No problem Mom,”

We all rushed to the town plaza. After half an hour, we arrived, just in time. We all took a seat at one of the chairs. The mayor, a middle-aged man in his forties with a long beard, quickly stepped onstage as we arrived. He cleared his throat and started to say.

“Hello everyone! We are all here for the coming of age ceremony of Jacob, but first I would like to wish Jacob a happy birthday,”

When I respectfully answered with,

“Thanks, sir.”

He then started the ceremony by saying,

“Now that’s that done, let’s start the ceremony but first: Jacob come over here,”

I answered,

“Yes, sir,”

I walked over to the mayor. When I stood before the mayor, he spoke again while raising his hands and pointing his finger at my forehead,

“Let’s start. In the name of Kira, the goddess of status and classes, I unseal your status.”

Out of nowhere, a blue status screen appeared before my eyes!

After a short time, the mayor started by saying.

“Now that your status is unsealed, you may choose your 2 free class crystals,”

To which I answered,

“I choose park master and beast tamer,”

The mayor reacted with,

“Good choice,”

The mayor pulled a box out of nowhere and took 2 crystals out of it and said,

“Here. These are the class crystals you asked for,”

I answered respectfully with,

"Thanks, sir,”

Ding. Ding.

Jacob took the crystals and got another 2 blue screens.

I quickly selected yes on both of the screens, with my mind. The two crystals transformed into light and entered my body. After that, another 4 blue screens popped up.

Park master is a class that works together with a park crystal to make a mystical park environment. Together a park master and his park crystal make the environment much more beneficial/suitable for all sorts of living things.

Beast tamer

Beast tamer is a class that magically subdues/tames beasts and gains a strange power over them. Beast tamers can use this power/bond to work/fight together with the various beasts that are tamed. Stats may increase depending on the tamed monsters.

As I was reading the notifications the mayor said,

“Congratulations on your first 2 classes Jacob, now that your classes are formed we can end the ceremony,”

My family and Jake congratulated me on getting my first 2 classes and we went home. After we got home it was time to receive the presents from my mom and dad. First I opened a big box, inside that was a bag of building materials and seeds. After that, I opened the small box, inside that was 3 gift cards worth 1 platinum coin total. The gift cards could each be spent at the carpentry, alchemy, and pet shops respectively. When I was done opening the box I yelled with joy,

“Thanks, Mom and Dad! I really appreciate the gifts,”

To with my dad said with a mysterious air,

“We are glad that you like them but we aren’t done yet! Come to the shed, your last present is there,”

My parents and I then walked over to the shed and when we got there, my mother told, me to open the door upon opening the door, I saw a small single table in the middle of the shed, on top of which floated a crystal with a big envelope lying beside it. When I opened it inside the lay a crystal with a big envelope.

And I shouted in excitement,

“Woah! Is that a park crystal!”

To which mom said with a heart warming smile,

“Yes, it is, I’m glad to see you so excited”

Dad then added,

“Open the envelope,”

I opened the envelope, finding a land deed within. My parents said that the land deed was bought using both my hard earned money and my birthday money and that we would visit the land in the deed after the party. Then I said with enthusiasm,

“Thanks Mom! Thanks Dad! You’re the best,”

They then said while giving me a hug,

“We are glad you like it,”

The party continued for a couple of hours, into the late afternoon. The party ended and it became time to go to see the new deeded land.

We took a horse carriage to go see deeded land, with the mana stones and building materials that I was gifted stored in the back. When we arrived, I was speechless. The land was huge! There was even a long front stretching off into the horizon on it and a decently sized flying island above it. A big house lay in the center of that massive land. Was this really my property?! And there was a big house on the land. After watching my gaping mouth and beached fish-like expression for a while with a satisfied expression, my mom snapped me out of my trance with a gentle push to my shoulder and reminded me that I could place my newly gained park crystal on the land and make my first contract with a park crystal. I walked forward in a daze and held out the park crystal in my hands, like I was giving the park crystal as an offering to the land.

I gently placed the crystal on the ground and it awoke with a roar. As it merged with the ground, sinking far beneath it, the whole property began to beautifully glow, like a miniature star on earth, and a truly tremendous amount of mana rushed to the area, thickening in the air to the point that it was nearly a physically tangible substance.
