(Duke Blakechenery) “You really don’t desire anything? Why have you actually come to the Capital in the first place?”

(Lupin) “That is just, because I fear to take the centre stage in the near future. If this happens, I probably will be targeted by many people, so I try to make preparations to avoid such situations in the future. Because of this, I went to the Capital to buy a Magidentify Device here.”

(Duke Blakechenery) “Oh, if it is just that, I could buy it for you.”

(Lupin) “Ah, please, don’t care about this little thing. I have the money myself, so don’t worry.”

(Duke Blakechenery) “I am sure about that, but are you really happy without any reward?”

(Lupin) “I am already happy if I can seek your support if I should have any problems inside the Capital.”

I wonder, if I should ask him about a reward. He seems different to the landlord, more vigilant. Is he testing me? I don’t think so, but still…

(Lupin) “Oh, by the way, is Larissa happy with the little golem I made for her?”

(Duke Blakechenery) “You made her a little golem? No wonder, that she looked so happy, we have long run out of new toys for her, even though she is just four years old.”

Suddenly, another guard came to the Duke, and interrupted him.

(Guard) “Sir, we have a great problem in the city! Dragons invaded the Capital!”

(Duke Blakechenery) “Just repel them.”

(Guard) “Uhm. Sir? I said, that Dragons invaded the city.”

(Duke Blakechenery) “And I said, that- what have you said?”

(Guard) “That dragons have invaded the city. More than fifteen, although only cubs, they have knocked out all our guards when they tried to stop the dragons. They haven’t attacked any other people, but everybody ran away, and they are approaching to the Noble District.”

(Lupin) “I can’t believe it…”

(Duke Blakechenery) “It surely is unbelievable, that some dragon cubs have invaded the city.”

(Lupin) “I meant, that it is unbelievable, that they followed me to the Capital, although I told them to stay at home! Haaa… Why is it so difficult to babysit children, even if they are dragon cubs…”

(Duke Blakechenery) “You’re some kind of father too? I can fully understand you sorrows. It sometimes is hard to watch children, not to mention, you have to care for more than fifteen dragon cubs – WAIT, WHAT?!”

(Guard) “By the way, they have only attacked the guards, who have attacked them, and they have sustained no severe injuries.”

(Duke Blakechenery) “Did you just say, that all those dragon cubs are yours?”

(Lupin) “If they are more than fifteen, it is very probably, but only, if they are less than twenty.”

(Lupin) “Ok, they are my dragon cubs for sure.”

(Duke Blakechenery) “So, you got many dragon cubs, and you really are something like a family? Your parents must feel like they were grandparents already!”

(Lupin) “At least you have got a funny attitude. Many people would be scared or aggressive, just because they’re dragons. Haaa…. I just hope that those of them, who are very curious, are not running around everywhere…”

(Duchess Blakechenery) “Did I just hear you talking about dragons? Is there something going on?”

(Lupin) “Ah, don’t worry, milady, the ones I have to take care of just followed me to the Capital even though I have told them to stay at home.”

(Duchess Blakechenery) “No need to be so formal, we are both non-humans and would both be social inferiors if my husband hadn’t married me, so just call me Cordelia!”

(Lupin) “I can’t accept that!”

(Duchess Blakechenery) “You will do, else I have to use my social status to make you do! You brought us back our children, so how could we possibly talk to each other as if we were at a different social level?”

(Lupin) “Okay, okay, I get it. I hope they can cope with the city. They were only once in a city before.”

(Duchess Blakechenery) “Ah, a kindred spirit! I should probably invite you to our monthly mothers talk in the afternoon, you would fit in perfectly, even though yours are dragon cubs!”

(Lupin) “Probably… But I still have to get the Magidentify device. Oh, by the way, tell Larissa to take care of the golem I made for her! It can use magic as well, so it should be a good little guardian!”

I won’t tell them about the Topaz-Dragon, I don’t even know myself, what the knowledge of the Topaz-Dragon could do.

(Duchess Blakechenery) “You want to buy a Magidentify Device? Has Gareth not offered to pay it for you?”

(Lupin) “I told him not to worry about that, as I got enough money by myself. And if I haven’t got enough, I could sell some of the stuff I have. By the way, again because of the little golem: The core was worth no less than 3 dragon coins. But don’t worry about that.”

(Cordelia) “You made her a present worth more than 3 dragon coins?”

(Lupin) “If I got the core, why shouldn’t I use it? If I do so, it would just be there, not able to fulfil its duty. Imagine, you had a butler, who is very precious to you, so you don’t give him any work. What would he be? Just a useless person, right?”

(Cordelia) “That’s indeed true, but you still have used something worth three dragon coins for a children’s toy!”

(Lupin) “So what?”

(Lupin) “Ah, there you are! Has anything special happened?”

(Customer) “You mean the dragon cubs from before, who defeated the guards easily?”

(Salesman #1) “Precisely! And they look like they are tamed!”

He seems to be the calm and collected salesman again, but his hands are still trembling.

(Lupin) “How many are possible?”

(Salesman #1) “Up to 16 are available right now, if you need more, you would need to make an order, we would need a deposit of 20 %, and the other 80 % would have to be paid after completion, in one month. We are able to produce Magidentify Devices with up to 30 access points at the moment.”

(Lupin) “Okay, then I’d like to order a Magidentify Device with 25 access points.”

(Salesman #1) “The deposit then would be one dragon coin and 200 platinum coins, please.”

(Salesman #2) *whispers* “He doesn’t look like he’d be that rich. Let’s see if he is able to pay it.”

[Lupin gets the money out of the pouch]

(Lupin) “Here you are. 1 dragon coin and 200 platinum coins.”

(Salesman #2) *whispers* “Okay, he is definitely a rich and spoiled kid. Maybe.”

(Lupin) “I can hear you.”

[Salesman #2 begins to shiver]

(Salesman #1) “Like I said, the Magidentify Device should be ready in about a month. Then you have to pay 4 dragon coins and 800 platinum coins.”

(Lupin) “Okay, then I’ll be back in a month.”

[leaves the shop]

(Salesman #1) “Whew. I don’t know what he could have done, if he would have been dissatisfied with something.”

(Lupin) “As if I want to attack you! I’d be notorious, if I’d do that, and I don’t want that. Haaa, just because I have eighteen dragon cubs, everyone thinks, that I want to do bad things…”

(Salesman #3) “Phew…” [Almost faints]

(Shop-owner) “What’s going on here?”

(Salesman #3) “It’s the guy with the dragon cubs.”

(Shop-owner) “He is a customer too, so why are you so scared? If he wanted to harm us, he probably didn’t even have to enter! So calm down! And I’ll handle things from here on!”

(Salesman #3) “Okay…”

(Lupin) “Uh, so, I’d like to buy some MP Potions…”

(Shop-owner) “Ah, we are only allowed to sell them to adventurers. But you surely are one, right?”

(Lupin) “Actually, I am. But, just a Rank D, because of age restrictions.”

(Shop-owner) “That’s no problem. Just put your hand on this measuring device, so that we can get you the most appropriate one for your immediate needs!”

(Lupin) “How… oh, well, I don’t care.”

This time, the measuring device looks something like these magic spheres, but there were two spheres. I have expected this before, when the school measurements were happening, but the device back then was different.

As I laid my hand upon it, it began to shine. Well, one sphere just shone like a normal candle, while the second one seemed to be able to explode every moment.

(Shop-owner) “Quick, take your hands of the spheres!”

After I have done so, I seemed like it was midnight, and the sky was completely covered with clouds.

Our eyes had to get accustomed to the normal light level again, and after we had done that.

(Shop-owner) “These spheres are only able to measure up to one and a half million. From that point upwards, they are likely to explode. As they didn’t, your maximum has to be pretty close to this spheres maximum. The other sphere was not very bright, so your magic power is really low at the moment. You should drink a top-grade potion, but that one is pretty expensive. 50 platinum coins.”

(Lupin) “Ah, no problem. But how much does a top-grade replenish?”

(Shop-owner) “It won’t be enough to fully replenish your magic power, but a great part.”

(Lupin) “Okay, then [takes out 50 platinum coins] here are the 50 platinum coins.”

(Shop-owner) “Wait here, I’ll get it for you.”

If I think of it, since I have the dragon cubs with me, nobody seems to have any problems with me.

Weird.

(Shop-owner) “Okay, here it is!”

[Exchange potion and coins]

(Lupin) “Thanks!”

[Aurora begins to smile]

(Aurora) “So, you were in the Capital. Haven’t you thought about us, who MIGHT be worried about you? And do you know, how LATE it is? You should have gone sleeping already!”

To cut it short, she sent me to bed without any dinner.

I still are the Core Scale, but I just got too many skills and affinities. I’ll list them up later. I fainted several times while reading, by the way.

After I woke up, I went to school. As I thought, we should bring our pet today, so I took Gimir with me, and guess what? The teacher fainted again. What naturally follows, are the two hours of pet-ology (That is not the only hilarious one today). Claire brought her dragon cub, and because it looked like a bear, she called it ‘Beary’! Not Teddy, but really ‘Beary’!

Kinzoku brought a variant of a metal tortoise, a ‘Mithril Tortoise’.

Then there were many ordinary ones, like cats or bunnies or wolves. No, dogs don’t exist here.

The noble one wanted to boast, as he brought a Snow Lion, but in comparison to the Mithril Tortoise, Beary or Gimir, he fell behind.

Then, we talked about a rumour that was spreading. That many dragon cubs invaded the Capital, knocked out some guards, and left again without stealing anything or injuring somebody severely.

After that, there was a demi, who had two of them sitting on his shoulders, bought some stuff, and had left the people with different opinions about him.

For example, some said, that he wanted to show-off, others that he held back the dragons. He left good and bad impressions, too. For example, one said, that a blue dragon cub asked him about something and was very friendly, despite being scary, another one said, that he was insulting them just by his appearance, just like ‘I could kill you, whenever I want. What could you even do?’

Some people even saw him eating a dragon scale.

My classmates were sure, that it was me, who was in the Capital, although they don’t know, how I could get to the Capital and back in a night, and why I went there.

And so, after a month, these rumours were forgotten, but rose again, as I got to the Capital to buy the Device.

Some people remembered me as the one with the dragon cubs, and this time, two of them followed him again.

Again, Caelum and Thalassa.

And, Caelums behaviour got even more motherly. It is really annoying.

The behaviour of the people in the Capital was less extreme then before, but they were still scared.

As I entered the Shop for the Magidentify Device, they treated me like a patron. I even got a 10 % discount, which is an amount of 600 platinum coins. Are they scared too?

After that, I thought of meeting the Duke, but he seemed to be on a meeting, so I talked with the Duchess, as well as playing with Nicholas and Larissa.

The Duchess had her monthly afternoon mother’s talk, by the way…

And I didn’t know about it, but Caelum took part in it!

Come on, imagine you had a 6 year old genius child, who behaves towards you like it was your mom, and then talks with other, real moms, about what problems he has with you, and how difficult it is to care for you!

Well, it is not important.

Shortly before I wanted to leave, the Duke came home, together with another man, who seemed to be on very friendly terms with the Duke.

(Gareth) “Oh, hello Lupin. Why are you here today?”

(Lupin) “Ah, I just was nearby, and I thought about paying a visit. As I found out, that you were on a seemingly important meeting, I talked with your wife and played with your children instead. By the way, they seemed to have taken a liking to one of them.”

(Gareth) “Is that so? That’s good. You remember, I wanted to introduce you to somebody? This man at my side is actually my brother, Richard Blakechenery, King of Kantori.”

(King) “So, this is the man who brought you back your children? The one with the many dragon cubs? He is still wet behind the ears.”

This meeting was probably the beginning for a bigger story.
