《Drak's Chronicle (old)》Chapter 5

“Let me introduce you to Corporal Dughal Brandubh.” The guide chuckled. And with that a floating head appeared. “Ill leave you two to get acquainted.”
At that the guide disappeared through a door that wasnt there the moment before.
“Ok Lad im going to be your right hand man so to speak, so let me fully introduce myself. Dullahan Dughal Brandubh at your service Sir.”
Trying to get over the weirdness of talking to a floating skull.
“So Dughal, if I might call you that, easier than your last name, what exactly is a dullahan”
“Well Sir a Dullahan could be said is the male version of the banshee. We used to pick up the souls and transport them to the afterlife. After the system came us and most other spirits became the guides here on earth for the living following them, advising them and helping them when their time finally comes. Dullahan are often mistaken for a headless horseman, as where they make their heads invisible for us its the other way around. We can detach our heads from our body and often carry them around instead of wearing them. We were also used to have our bodies turn visible and invisible at will. Now as you can see we can only do that when our human levels up.”
“So untill that time I have a floating skull follow me around. Fucking cool. And what are your tasks as companion?” I asked.
“Like I said im here to help and advise you. In your specific case ill be your second in command. Unlike most of your troops will be mindless and who will follow orders to the letter I have full autonomy. That being said ill advise and give you suggestions on courses of actions to follow. But in the end when you come to a decision I will follow it to the spirit if not the letter. I myself cant be killed in being already dead so to speak. But if im defeated in battle you will need to resummon me which is a 2 hour cast time spell.”

And with that I got a message saying new spell learnt.
**
Summon Companion. 50/mp/level
Summons your companion. 2 hour cast time. One of the few spells where you can tart the cast and then go do other things. Your companion will appear next to you after the 2 hour times finishes. Cannot be cast if the companion is already on this plane of existence.
**
“Anything you can advise me on my other powers corporal?”
“I can see your whole status. Now onto your PP. I would suggest starting with the 1 PP options that you have and then upgrading either your race or your class.”
So I put one PP into Bones and as it was still there one into Flesh.
**
Bones
1. Unlock summon skeleton. Ability to have one squad of skeletons armed with sword and shield.
Flesh
1. Unlock summon zombie dogs. Ability to have 2 zombie dog specialists
**
Hmm lets see what changed in my status before continuing.
**
Name: Drak Nolan
Race: Revenant
Class: Necromancer
Profession: Commander (Sergeant)
Level: 1
PP: 13
Stats:
Str: 6
Dex: 5
Sta: 9
Int: 12
Will: 19
Cha: 15
HP: 90
MP: 120
Paths:
Revenant (0/10) Necromancer (0/10) Command (0/100) Control (0/10) heart (0/10) Sword (0/20) Staff (0/20) spear (0/20) Bones 2 (0/50) Flesh 2 (0/1) Hounds (0/100) skeletons (0/2)
**
“Sir if your ok with it I suggest just showing the changes and what paths you have available”
I added a point into Flesh 2 and added 2 points into skeletons.
**
Flesh 2
1. Unlocks squad of zombies
Skeletons
2. Any skeletons you summon can now also be equiped as either spearman or archers.
**
“So Dughan explain to me about squads and specialists.”
“Ok sir let me show you a new part of the status screen.”

**
Army
Units (0/1)
Unit 1 (0/100 xp)
Squads (0/1)
Squad 1
Options: (pick one)
15 skeletons (Can be mixed equipment)
5 zombies
Regen: 1 per hour
Specialists 0/2
Options:
Zombie dogs (1 per point)
Regen 1 per day
**
“So sir as you can see you can have multiple units. Each of which you name separately when first formed. When a unit levels up depending how its used or unlocked paths it might unlock the ability to have more and or bigger squads. Or it might gain more specialists or faster regen. When you lose units or have injured they will slowly regenerate out of combat. Starting with the injured first at the moment 1 creature being a zombie or a skeleton will regenerate first after all are healed new units will be summoned depending on the regen rate. Now to speed it up you might unlock some healing spells later so you can get to the new summons faster.”
“So whats the difference between skeletons and the zombies that I have? And why are zombies more expensive.”
“Well skeletons are weak individually but are well suited for larger unit tactics and very flexible in what they can be equipped with so their strength is more in the equipment than in the individual. The regular zombies are much harder to kill and have a chance to spread diseases when they bite their enemies. The zombie dogs are not as tough as the regular zombies, but they are much faster and therefore have an easier time biting enemies and spreading their diseases. Also against sentients they have the fear factor going for them. Until you unlock more squads id suggest just sticking to skeletons and zombie dogs as its the most tactically flexible thing you can do at the moment.”
Now came the hard decision on what to do with my last 10 points. Let me review my options.
**
Revenant (0/10) Necromancer (0/10) Command (0/100) Control (0/10) Heart (0/10) Sword (0/20) Staff (0/20) spear (0/20) Bones 2 (0/50) Hounds (0/100) Flesh 3 (0/100) Zombies (0/100) skeletons 3 (0/50)
**
Wanting to know what my race would give me I decided on putting my last points into revenant.
**
Revenant
5. +1 str +1 cha
10. Darkvision
Darkvision
Ability to see in low-light and the dark almost as well as in daylight. In total darkness sight is in black/white and cant see colours.
**
Well that ability is going to be very usefull. Now probably time to get back to town and to figure out what to do with my new abilities. And to get to my birthday party of course.

As the Godking Wills
The Empire and the Church span almost the entirety of the known world, absent some pockets of lawlessness and the realms of the deceiver. They are governed as a despotic theocracy, ruled in name by the solitary and omnipotent God, Al'Shazan. In practice, Al'Shazan is bored, flighty, cruel and has little interest in ruling the Empire. Instead the Empire is run by the High Priest, Minister of the Treasury, and the Knight Commander of the inquisition. Their job is to make sense of the contradictory nonsense spewed forth by their living God while simultaneously ruling the greatest nation that the world has ever known. The entire time, they have to maintian the facade that Al'Shazan is a benevolent and loving God in order to maintain morale in the general populace. --------- The actual genre for this is more along the lines of a Fantasy Political Comedy/Drama/Thriller. It will not be 'crunchy' (minimal action, minimal descriptions of powers/abilities) but instead be focusing on world building and political maneuvering. As a warning, it is fairly dark.
