《Through Blood We Grow》Index of Things That Will Kill You: Wydrans

Wydrans Omnivore Solitary creature, known to be a nomadic creature to avoid predation. Varying sizes- largest recorded (107yds long, 105,300 pounds) Often times avoid conflict and only hunt creatures for food. Due to their size they mostly leave smaller creatures alone. While quite deadly, these creatures’ reproduction cycle makes sustaining the species difficult. They are known to live for hundreds of years but the young are very weak and require more attention and often times have to be left behind. While most commonly compared to the dragons of legend, due to their shape and size, these creatures are actually closer related to most species of dove. Though with their quadrupedal stature and separate wings many still believe them to be descendants of dragons. Their feathered bodies allow them to survive almost all climates and assist in extended flight. That and their mating rituals are nearly identical. These creatures are known to be highly intelligent, one of the few with enough mental capacity to be tamed with effort. Sharp talons, lungs capable of forcing massive gusts of wind out, and heavy body weight make these tough creatures to take down. That, their thick skin, and above average regeneration makes them neigh unkillable without proper planning. Consumption possible Drinking them is advised, they give incredibly powerful mutations. Though for veteran monster hunters, the possibility of a tamed Wydran far outclasses the mutations. Possible mutations Expanded lung capacity talons alteration of bones to a lighter, yet incredibly durable form. Formation of wings Sense of direction becomes unmatched Photographic memory Enhanced eyesight Minor regeneration Thickened skin, though rare, it makes most other defensive mutations obsolete due to unhindered flexibility and above average protection Side effects Heightened senses can often times disorient unprepared people Feathers on limbs Wings are rather difficult to learn to use

Furry Dragons. Best way to describe them. Though it isn't the best description, its the best I can manage. They're closer to doves yeah but you'd never know it from afar, or up close. Only way I figured it out was cutting one open, weird dynamics these things have. Still a shame I couldn't tame it. Fighting them is about as easy as pushing a boulder up a mountain, except the mountain can bite you and flies away anytime you're close to the top. Only way I've heard of them being killed is a weighted rope or somehow clipping one of its wings.
Honestly I'm not too sure on killing these things, they rarely if ever attack humans, they kill far more aggressive monsters, and they are really beautiful creatures. Just don't think killing them is a good idea, but the mutations are good and greed is a better motivator than most. Not my job to think about this stuff anyway.

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
