《The Power of Boredom Is Limitless》(Chapter 8) Politics Is Like Chess? Right?

War had started in this world of magic, and where was Ian? Sitting on his bed playing with his thumbs. He had wanted Spring Baker to find him before the war had started. But fate seemed to decide to fuck up his day. The girl was not a resourceful and decisive as Ian had thought, as such Ian was debating just flat out telling the girl, and reviving her mother. After all, if something takes way longer than planned it gets... boring.
Ian now impatient decided to end it once and for all. Walking to the kitchens, Ian pulled out the jade bottle containing Spring's mother and pushed the doors open. With the sudden entry the chefs and maids were quite startled, ignoring them Ian scanned the room.
After locking onto Spring, Ian grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the kitchen.
"Hey let go of me!" Spring began to shout hysterically at this sudden open kidnapping
Covering her mouth Ian whispered into her ear "I have captured your mother's murderer, just shut up and follow me"
Hearing such sudden but delightful news Spring stopped resisting and followed Ian out of the castle and city. After a 10 minute walk the duo entered into the nearby woods, stopping Ian turned to face Spring
"I killed your mother" He said indifferently
Immediately Spring's face turned pale. Why did she follow a stranger into the woods? Because she's naïve as hell. And that naivety brought her demise.
Spring making the move to turn and run suddenly froze, the air around her had been solidified by Ian
"I'm not planning to kill you, actually I did not kill your mother" Ian said while tossing the jade bottle into a tree, shattering it into dust
Suddenly the blue light and red bottle stopper merged together growing larger by the second. It soon turned into a human sized egg, which then began to crack. As the egg shattered it revealed Spring's mother sleeping but healthy

Spring's eyes immediately lit up as she ran towards her mother. "Thank you, Jackson! She looks so much healthier! I thought you killed her!"
"I did not kill her. It was an illusion" Ian said not wanting to tell the girl her mother was, in a sense resurrected
Pulling out a pill Ian than smiled "However this isn't an illusion!" Ian swallowed the pill and his possessed body exploded
Spring, the poor girl witnessed the same scene twice. And her reaction was all the same, she did the only thing she could. Scream

Now finally relieved of that damnable body, Ian could spread out his divine sense once more. Now the next stage of Ian's plan was to slowly reform his true body. This process would take about a week if he was to avoid the notice of the gods. Ian of course could not focus on anything but the recreation of his body during this time.
After a week Ian rose into the air once more. "FINALLY! That damn mortal body was so stuffy" delighted that he was free and had regained his true form, Ian concealed his existence and entered the imperial castle in a flash.
Sneaking into the throne room Ian discovered an odd war council was occurring.
"It's time to slaughter the demon race, the hero is trained enough. The old man was right, the blade would turn its wielder into a slaughtering machine" King Kin said due to being quite satiated with the blades performance
However, when Ian gave the blade to the king he described that the blade was for slaughter. But he failed to mention the one important detail. It was for slaughtering one's own race, and once in battle his one true target would be his allies.
"Are the soldiers and knights ready to be deployed to the northern plains?" King Kin asked

"Yes, your highness, they can leave at moment's notice" one of the generals replied
"Good, send them to the plains and begin construction on a fort. We will need it as a foothold"
"As you wish your highness" The general bowed before leaving to give his orders
Surprisingly King Kin was actually good at the game of war, horrible at managing a country and castle but good at war. In all due honesty he was better off being a general than a King, it would fit his talents better

After a short while the meeting ended, the only reminders of the conversation where over weapon acquisition, and training regimes for the soldiers.
"Ah, I need something to do" Ian was isolated a week to rebuild his body, and now his boredom has encroached upon him once again.
Ian spread his divine sense throughout the castle to get a sense of its happenings. There he noticed something, it was a woman sitting alone on a balcony being served some type of tea.
Listening in Ian realized this was her highness, the princess of the kingdom. The princess had an amazing appearance, not in the sense of outstanding beauty. But rather shockingly ordinary, to the point where if you removed her fancy-ish clothes and but her in a peasant setting. You would never realize she was royalty, hell she even lacked the presence of royalty
"Let's have a small chat, I want to see her reaction" Ian began to approach the woman at the table.
Without her knowledge he pulled out a chair and sat down, before revealing his existence. Looking up at him the princess had little reaction, it was like she was expecting him all along
"Ok this is weird as fuck" He thought
"Hello" Ian began
"I would like to have a small chat if you wouldn’t mind, there are quite a few matters I feel the need to talk to you about. Moreover, you mind find them more than significant to you, and the country you could rule" Ian smiled

8 445Journey of Infinite Steps
Science Fiction/ Low fantasy Iliad. Oliver just wanted a job that could keep his family fed, and himself sane. Was that so much to ask for? Apparently. As he instead ends up facing monsters and dodging his way to another world instead. Competent as he views himself figuring out how to reopen a portal back home by himself is defiantly above his knowledge base. Of coarse it would be vastly simpler if he could keep 'getting back home' as his primary goal. 'Staying alive' is unfortunately a far more immediate and relevant goal. I will post any content warnings on a Per Chapter basis. Divisive content will be as skip-able as I can reasonably manage Discord Link will be available for those interested in assisting editing/ coauthoring. Especially character writers/those willing to work out the math/ economies and world building even if only as a wall to bounce ideas off of.-----Full Synapsis contains serious spoilers----- Looking to take care of his family, Oliver finds himself flung into a faraway place. Try as he might, his Iliad will not be simple or peaceful as he'd like. Alas the slow and unending war of Chaos and Order has long memories and longer reach. If Oliver is to make his way back home it looks like He'll have to solve the universe one fight and mystery at a time. Especially as the Laws of Physics shift, often on a per world basis. Hopefully there is still a home to come back to.
