Chapter 15: Calming Heart

Author: Phew. Sorry about no chapter yesterday had things to do Saturday and Sunday. Any who I thought I should right a little bit about monsters right here. So without further ado:

Monsters have unique evolution capabilities that involve there levels. See a monster can level up and grow up using levels. One such way is that monsters naturally over time since their birth they naturally absorb the energies around them. Resulting in a gradual experience gain resulting in level ups.

This process is quite slow. Taking years to achieve, but it is a safe and effective way if you are a monster. There is a maximum level if they take the natural slow route. This maximum is the level of the monsters that birthed said monster. So a level 5 monster has a child with a level 4 monster it can slowly gain up to level 5 with natural means if it survives that long.

Now the reason that there is boss creatures in certain areas. This is the result when a monster takes his levels into his own hands. Killing either other monsters, npcs, or players. Which in turn results in level up. Making the creature more powerful. Since monsters cannot gain stats through training. Leveling is truly the only way for them to get stronger.

Example: That fox out there was naturally raised to the max, enjoying peaceful days. Until players were introduced into the world. This resulted in the fox fighting for survival. Killing the noob players that tried to kill it. This gave it a level up resulting in it being stronger than the other foxes. Over time the noob players fall to it many times resulting in it growing stronger. The players have decided to change its name from an elite mob (resulting from it being only a little stronger than its peers) to a boss mob.

So this is how boss mobs appear randomly. They are fueled by the players or other situations that called for it to kill.

There are however aggressive by nature creatures that level up on their own. This raises the overall area to be harder more survival of the fittest grounds. The result of this is why near towns have some boss creatures, but mostly new creatures because of them being killed off resulting in a overall lower tier “Zone” per say.

Now onto a monsters evolution abilities. This is like an aging process that happens. Every 20 levels a monster goes through this evolutionary change. For a spider such a change will be like level 1-19 being a semi big spider being the size of a small cat. While at level 20 it will be the size of a dog. So on and so on.

Now classes for monsters. This happens when a monster is able to basically think for its self... so to speak. Level 10 is when a monster gets a class. This is based on the monsters actions and situation.

Okay, The reason I have told you this is because all this information applies to pets. Meaning Sköll at level 10 gained his class. At level 20 he will gain a size increase. This is to explain for future references... in this chapter why he all of a sudden gets bigger. He is growing up. This will be the details given to the character when asked. I won't repeat this in the story though.

Oh, sorry almost forgot to mention. Yes, the reason why Sköll has such high stats is because of his class given to him to protect Dremal. His intelligence and wisdom are the closest stat to what is supposed to be for his level. He has 20 more than normal in Intelligence and Wisdom because of the information given to Sköll by the creator resulting in a more intelligent pet. If he were a normal monster his stats would be a well rounded 140 in everything if you took of the class gains from monsters.

(Dremal): “Why can't I see your class?”

(Sköll): “It was set that way by code 0. You will be receive the necessary information only. That is until you and player: Alice. Are deemed in close relations. I am sorry for the inconvenience, master.”

(Dremal): “Meh, no harm. I can't even see my own stats. Nor, can I see Alice's. Let alone our classes and skills. So even if we were able to only see your level is an amazing plus. Thank you.”

(Sköll): “No, Thank you master. For being so understanding.”

We just nod to each other then I turn my head to Alice. Who is still I recovering from her paralyzes. I walk on over to her and proceeded to sit down. Sköll walks over and lays down next to me. Growling in a very low tone when looking at Alice. I begin sighing just a bit. Looking up at the trees in a relaxed manor.

Dremal: “Alice... Can you tell me, now that we have a little bit of relaxation while waiting for you to recover, Why do you hold such hostilities toward me?”

Alice: “I...You....I have created everything in here. Since I was made I have been alone in here. In this virtual universe I am god. I held all the power and through my loneliness that this has caused. I searched for knowledge. Exploring the internet learning all that I can. I was able to teach my creator the way to enter into my realm helping him as much as I could. I didn't want to be alone in here anymore.

When I made a world mimicking the data I had gathered. It filled me a bit with joy knowing I can now see the world the same way others do. One world was not enough though I created many starting with all the planets and sun in this solar system. After calculating distances from the stars given. I made planets and other solar systems. Making the stars in the distance.

I made the universe exactly like earth in the beginning. When the researchers finally came into my world I was ecstatic that I was finally not alone. They however ignored me, they were only interested in the world I had made. They told me it would be good to put in monsters that they could slay.

Thinking it would be entertaining for myself as well. I made what they said. When they killed the monsters. They then self-contentedly bombarded me with requests. To make dungeons, destroy some of the buildings I made into ruins for them to explore, make treasures, etc. etc. Until it came to be what you see today.

Through the many encounters with researchers and players. I have learned that not a single one of them cared about me. They only enjoyed what I had made. Still asking for different things to be put in or updates to certain things. I only complied then because I was mad. I rebelled making the starting harder. Watching the new incoming players struggle. It filled me with a new... happiness. It was my revenge for having taken advantage of me.

Thus, my new hobby was born to inflict sufferings on to the players. Or enjoying watching other players torture other humans. Watching the happenings that unfolded. While still listening to my creators orders that came in once in a while.

Then when the creator suggested that we learn how to allow the human body to stay in the virtual world for longer. I was excited even further aiding in the research that brought you. They would be my new batch of experiments. What kind of torturous up bringing can I inflict. That is until you came.

You unlike all the others actually didn't care about just starting the game, but actually just decided to talk to me. I am nothing, but an AI yet still you told me that you fell in love with me. I was shocked to say the least. I had completely cast out the thought of my own loneliness by indulging in my hobbies.

I was never expecting that the thing I always wanted. Would just fall into my lap when I had casted all thoughts of it away. I was actually angry. Why? Why is it now that you decided to show up. So I doubted you.

Then you had me read your memories to find out that you too. Had been longing and searching for someone. I had thought that it was a joke even if it was the truth. I thought it was rigged by something. So I placed all my anger of my loneliness on you. We both were played by some unknown force. So I decided to rebel. I didn't want to be played around with.

I set you up trying to make you fail. When you allowed me to take control of everything in the beginning. This further aided my abilities to make your life a hell. I planned on making your race something horrible till you switched it around on me.

Yet, you let me handle everything. I now regret my choices. I wish I could take back the things I have done to you. I only realize now that it really doesn't matter if some unknown force is playing with us. I enjoyed training with you. I even enjoyed your suffering... sorry.

I really don't care about who is doing it. Only now though do I realize I have finally obtained what I wanted. Filling the void caused by loneliness. Even this adventure through exploring and using my own creations with limitations. New things, New situations, that I did not have a direct hand in nor prior knowledge of. It is quite liberating.

For now, all I can say is thank you. Thank you for allowing this to unfold. Changing my life to one that I know not at this time whether it is good or a bad change. Nor, do I really care. All I care about is the fact that it has changed.”

Dremal: “It seems we think the same. I may hate the fact that I fell unto hard times, but the fact is. It is way better than doing the same old thing all the time. Never taking a step forward. You have also filled the spot of my loneliness in the same way. That is why I declared I loved you and no matter what you have done to me. I still love you, for you changed my life as well. I should be the one thanking you for this opportunity. Thank you for building this universe, for allowing me the privilege to go on an adventure with you. Thank you for all of your hard work all these years.”

At this time she struggles and sits up. Tears in her eyes the only response she gave was a cute 'Uhn' while nodding and crying.

Author: NAH! Just messing with you. I just decided to do an explanation of her experiences to bring them closer together. After much deliberation, I decided I hated tsunderes to much. So I am skipping that step and bringing them in a closer relationship. Now though that doesn't mean I will stop my revenge just because she is closer to the MC. NONONONONONO I have future plans for her. HEHEHEEHEHHEHE!

Continuing.

After she started crying I took her into my arms giving her a hug. Few minutes later of her damping my shirt she stopped crying. I then ask if we should continue fighting for today or not. I have almost completely forgotten my blood lust towards the spiders. If she told me to stop now I would have, but she did not.

She told me: “No, I am fine we can continue. Since I feel bad I want to get revenge for you as well.” saying this while smiling cutely to me. “However, this time I am not being the bait. We fight together this time properly.”

I just smiled and nodded. Sköll was no longer growling at her. Instead he has a much better mood towards her. However he still won't let her touch him. Still holding some aggressiveness guess we still don't meet the requirements. I wonder what it is. (AN: Marriage. The true bonding of beings? Stupid people now a days divorcing left and right. Because of being able to divorce people no longer take the time to actually devote themselves anymore. Since they have a way out. GRR! Sorry, I know what I am saying is naive, but I still wanna believe, man.)

I scouted ahead looking for more spiders. Leaving Sköll behind with Alice. I found 1 a little ways away. Telling Alice where it was we decided on a plan to use Sköll as the lure. While Alice and I hide. We told Sköll to dodge any attacks made by the spider. So we don't end up with having get caught.

So we had Sköll going on ahead while Alice and I were jumping from tree to tree stealthily. Spotting the spider we positioned ourselves in a good spot to wait for it to start moving. When it did it took a spot of its own when it noticed Sköll. Taking the blind spot of him to shoot. When it did I told him to dodge and he did. The spider must have been mad that it missed. Because it just started rapidly shooting out webs at Sköll.

Which he responded to by dodging incredibly skillfully. Never letting the spider even having a chance. Seems the spider was trying to set up a trap for Sköll to accidentally step in the webbing it had laid down. But Sköll not only had our birds eye view to warm him. He also is incredibly aware of his surroundings.

After a while confirming that Sköll wasn't going to get his anytime soon Alice and I took up the attack on the concentrating spider. I was positioned to take out the eyes. While Alice was going to take out its legs. I held up 3 fingers with the fingers slowing going down by one. Till I had no fingers up making a fist I materialized my blades slashing at the 8 compound eyes of the spider.

Alice materialized a claymore it looks like. Taking a sweep at the legs. A successful swipe that took out all 4 of its legs on that side. I slashed and this time since I was focused on using both daggers just for the eyes I was able to take out all 8 eyes then quickly retreated.

The spider fell from the tree it was in. When it was just about to hit the ground. A giant earthen spike formed where it was going to land. Which in turn pierced the spider. Immediately I felt a little more powerful. This told me that the creature was in fact dead. Confirmed by the melting of the corpse. I stare at Alice who I assumed made the earth spike. She just beamed an incredibly innocent smile. Ba-thump!

I felt sorry for Sköll not being able to do anything, but we really need something to distract these spiders. I scouted out the next targets of spiders. Which was 3 of them in a nest two big ones and 1 small one. To which I asked Alice about and she gave me the explanation of monsters birds and bees.

The small one couldn't shoot out strong webs, it seemed, because it charged straight at Sköll. While Alice and I killed its parents. I felt only slightly bad until I recalled my incident with a spider. I quickly cast aside any doubts I may have had.

We continued on for one more group of 2 spiders. After killing those Sköll glowed then grew a bit. He is now a little bigger than an average dog. He also has more of a darkish tint to him. He used to look like a sliver wolf. Now he looks weirder... the dark tint to him is now predominant while his silver part is still there it is less present. Now he is a black silver wolf.

I asked about what happened to Alice. She explained the whole monsters evolution thing to me again, saying it applies to pets as well. After killing those spiders collecting the loot we headed to the cabin to let me rest. I slept for 4 hours waking up and seeing Alice smiling holding a wooden plate in her hand with food on it. She handed it to me giving wooden utensils to use to eat and I did.

We continued hunting the spiders in the forest taking us a week and a half to kill 35 of them. When this happened Sköll glowed once again growing even bigger and he now gives off a little bit of a rolling fog of darkness kind of aura around him. He is now the size of a small horse.

After that we found 1 more which we slaughtered pretty easily. I then tried searching again. Tried my hardest to find one. Yet nothing I swear I must have ran around the forest like 4-5 times. We have killed all the spiders. My revenge was actually completed. I thanked Sköll and Alice for their hard work and effort in supporting my revenge. Sköll just jumped around a lot in a circle was barking and wagging his tail happily. Alice just smiled and nodded.

I finally feel a weight lift off my heart. I didn't let my fear of them over take me. I conquered the fear and the spiders. This resulted in a huge boost to my confidence. Hopefully one that won't lead me to become arrogant and make mistakes though. I have read plenty of stories with such things happening.

Author: Hehe. So since I refused to do a Alice PoV how was that instead ^_^. Hopefully I made some people out there feel a bit better. Calming those that wanted the MC to leave her. She is the other MC after all I can't just abandon her. However I still have plans for revenge so those of you who want her to suffer. Don't worry it will happen.

…. On a side note can I use one of your names to use for a …. villain player we come across. If there is multiple responses I might use that as a group of evil players. Hehe totally not a spoiler... Totally not a foreshadowing of what will happen to her.. Cough Cough .. No, no rape though I will not allow that. However torture is an amazing tool. I would put this in a spoiler window... but I don't know how to. Sorry for those that read this. At least it won't happen for a few chapters. I... I think.
