Chapter 14: Revenge of the Fallen

Author: Congratulations to Felk and Acaeluse and thank you very much the names you gave will be used. Hehe! Because of the cool names and me not being able to decide made the personality of the pup. Haha best pet idea ever. Ahem! Anywho moving on now.

Sköll was happily wagging his tail until Alice yelled that at Dremal. Then the pup Sköll went blank for a moment. Then Alice got a confused look all of a sudden. Then she got up and just stared at me. Sköll seemed to recover a moment later, but this time I felt he was different. I could feel our telepathic communication. Just it was like he wasn't actually the pup in front of me. No, in fact the pup looks more well aggressive. Adorably aggressive, but aggressive none the less.

Alice: “Now that's something new.”

Dremal: “What happened? I don't feel like that is my Sköll anymore.”

Alice: “It seems this pet program was made with … well a split personality. Thus enables it to have two owners. You are ½ its owner. I am the other ½. He is both Fenrir and Sköll. Absolutely weird is the only way I can put that. We both have a telepathic link to it. It must be the creators influence. That must be why my half of the pet I control. Won't actually let me control it. Haha! In fact it seems to hate me.”

I walk on over to it slightly weary of its aggressiveness, but I somehow knew it wouldn't harm me so I stuck my hand out for it to sniff. It seemed to calm its temper when it saw my hand and immediately started licking my hand. Alice saw this and tried to go back to petting the pup, but Fenrir acted instantly growling and trying to bite at her hand. So I tried to communicate with Sköll.

(Dremal): “Sköll, are you in there?”

(Sköll): “Yes, I am here.”

(Dremal): “Do you know that there is two of you? Or what the meaning of this is?”

(Sköll): “Yes, Fenrir is the protection system under system orders code 0. Designed for player: Dremal's protection vrs. Everything. Player: Alice is deemed hostile source towards player: Dremal until relationship status is confirmed between the two players: Dremal, Alice. I am to be the main part of control until player hostilities are present in which guard Fenrir will be present. To protect you.”

(Dremal): “Then why is Fenrir deemed as Alice's pet?”

(Sköll): “This was for two main reasons. One in order to constantly sense the hostile Alice for the time that she is dubbed as such. Two for when players: Dremal and Alice, are in a positive relationship objects will be shared. At this point program Fenrir will merge with me to become one stable unit under both your commands.”

(Dremal): “Umm... What kind of 'positive relationship' does this mean? I would be happy if that became the case, but the situation at present looks dim at best. This brings up the question too. Why did you let her pet you in the first place if you were given such orders?”

(Sköll): “First question, I do not know the answer to. It was and order by code 0; therefore is only solved and deemed by code 0. Second question, I was not aware of anything until her hand came into contact with me. Then when Fenrir was born I was given such knowledge.”

(Dremal): “Oh, okay then. Well then nice to meet you both then. Thank you for protecting my well being, now and in the future. Well let's level up I guess so we can gain the strength to protect.”

Dremal: “Haha! Alice it seems like both personalities of the pup don't like you. Simply because your relationship was deemed bad with me. Seems Fenrir is a bit of a yandere character likes me hates everything else?”

Alice: “What kind of bullshit is this? I am Fenrir's direct owner yet it doesn't like me simply because I mess with you?”

Dremal: “If you can call that 'messing' with me. Yeah, as judged by something called code 0.”

Alice: “FUCKING CREATOR! God dammit gives me cuteness then takes it away from me. So if I want to enjoy spending time with it I am forced to be nicer to you?”

Dremal: “Umm. I am not actually sure.”

Alice: “Well... you do...kind of ...deserve to be treated a bit better.... you actually went through my training without quitting or complaining to the creator.”

Alice was mumbling quite a bit there, but she was blushing quite a lot. Very cute, but I will not be fooled I know at the moment she is only going to act better because of the pup. In reality I don't really mind because that still means she might treat me better. The fact still being though I don't like the idea that she is only going to do it for her own gain.

Dremal: “We need to level up some more. While we are at it lets slaughter all the spiders!”

Alice and Sköll nodded. Then I stealth climbed up the trees again while telling Sköll to stay near Alice since I am not sure about him being able to stealth. I take off to go find another spider. I continued going straight ahead about 1230 ft or so going through the forest in one direction. I came to see the outside. There is another plains there with hills spread about in the distance. This looks more wild and natural though. I can see some animals and alien looking creatures wandering around out there.

I quickly get a neat idea. Alice and I are connected to Sköll and Fenrir telepathically. So I should be able to use them to communicate with Alice. So I decided to try it.

(Dremal): “Hey Sköll can you communicate with Fenrir so he can talk to Alice for me like a message system?”

(Sköll): “I could, but that would take to long for orders to get through. Do you mind if I just patched you right in for a link with player: Alice?”

(Dremal): “If you can actually do something like that. It would be very helpful for future operations like this.”

(Sköll): “Understood... connecting link now. You should be able to sense the both of us now. Distinct signatures of player: Alice and I. Concentrate on hers and you may speak. This will be like when you get more pets.”

I do as he says. I concentrated on Alice's aura that I could now sense. Strange the way he said it sounded as if he counted Alice as a pet.

(Dremal): “Umm. Alice can you hear me now?”

(Alice): “Hmm. I have never heard of such a feature. Guess it is another new addition courtesy of the creator. It is fun though learning new things. Even if it is changes to my own game. It makes things... interesting. Now what is it you need?”

(Dremal): “I was wondering why the forest stopped so abruptly after I traveled only 1230 ft. from your position.

(Alice): “Well that is because I only quickly added in the forest and the mobs. I made it so it is a circular forest around the cabin and the forest is only about 1300 ft. thick.”

(Author: I am just throwing numbers out there. I personally think its kinda big, but reminded its small and the original numbers was taking off that 1 at the beginning. Then I was reminded by my roommate how little that actually was. So basically imagine a forest of unnatural proportions mechanically made to be circular and only thick enough that you run into about two animals on your way through in a straight line.)

(Dremal): “On my way here. I didn't come across any monsters we are going to have to go through the entire forest and slaughter them... is that even possible or will the mobs re-spawn to fast?”

I begin making my way back to her.

(Alice): “That is okay. I only really made it so you could run across one maybe two on a straight run through. That way I could escape when I wanted to without trouble. Yet still make this place hard enough that it deters most. Now that means that the number of creatures are semi small number that it is possible to kill them all if you are fast enough to kill them all before they mate. If you kill off all the monsters in an area fast enough for that to happen though. There will be a long period before the AI in charge then moves or creates creatures in to the area to repopulate it.”

Dremal: “Then lets slaughter them all so that, that happens.” I whispered into her ear. She gives another jump and then lowers her head. Then she nodded. I put my arm out in front of her point in the direction I am now going to move. From the front of the cabin to here would be 12 o' clock I am now moving counter-clockwise heading to 11. High in the trees I spot two spiders in a nest. Smirking I am going to go with plan B again.

(Dremal): “Alice we are going to go with plan be again the spider is about 300 feet away from you. Just keep going around without doing anything to special.” I switch to speaking to Sköll “Try to stealth back away from Alice she is going to be the decoy. Assist me with the one I am going to kill when we engage.” I get a telepathic affirmation.

Alice is once again just walking out in the open. I tried looking for Sköll, but I couldn't spot him directly in the open. I guess his stealthiness skills are pretty good for being a level 1 or is it a wolf's natural abilities of being a hunter. Either way it is awesome.

The spiders both head out from their nest when they spot Alice. One heading to the front while the other going for Alice's blind spot. Hmm, tactics change I guess when there are two of them. I head around to the one going for the blind spot. I then materialized my weapons they definitely feel a lot stronger than before.

When both of the creatures shot out their webbing I stabbed it in the belly the same as before. Then instead of exploding my weapons I just extended their length by a lot and sliced a bunch inside. The thing then starts falling from where it was. I stopped my magic letting it fall without taking me. I know it isn't dead, but I can tell that it is near. I command Sköll to finish it off while I deal with the other one.

Jumping over to the other one that is over looking Alice which is now completely tied up from feet to neck in webbing. It then hears the Thud of its companion hitting the ground and looks over on the ground where Sköll is now finishing it off by biting and clawing at the thrashing creature. The spider then looks down as Alice looking like it is confirming that she can't run. Then it ran over to Sköll across the ground. When it almost got to him I materialized my blades once again using gravity and extending my weapons again.

I land thrusting my dagger on the back of its neck piercing deep into it. While the karambit slashed across its eyes since my arms were not long enough to reach its neck to try for decapitation. I successfully slashed all 8 of its eyes before it had time to react to me. By the time it started to react I jumped of its back, flipping to a tree to kick off heading angularly to the ground just before the spider. Hitting the ground I tumbled then slide underneath the belly. As I was sliding underneath of it I pierced its belly and was using momentum to slash it apart.

After I finished sliding out from underneath it I felt like I gained more power, but I knew that it wasn't from the creature I am fighting now. Since I could still sense it. Sköll bounded over to me and started attack the neck of the spider. So I guess the other one just finished dying. This spider slammed its belly to the ground in a poor attempt to squish me just now. I don't want it thrashing about so I begin dismembering its legs from its body. Each leg just if I let it touch the ground begins just melting. If I cut it off and continue holding it, it seems to stay though.

Seems like a useful bit of knowledge for the future. I removed all of its legs and it still didn't die. It wasn't until a few more bites and slashes from Sköll that it finally died. It took about 5-6 minutes for it to actually die after I started dismembering it. I once again felt a bit more power enter me, but was not as significant as the first one... the second felt less than the first as well, but was still more than this one.

I then turned to see Alice seeing just the final traces of white fire finishing up the spider threads. Guess she can handle herself. I walk on over to her expecting her to stand up before we get there, but she didn't.

Dremal: “Alice... what's wrong?”

Alice: “I... I can't move any part of my body. Stupid paralyses effect. I uhh... don't like not being able to move. I feel so defenseless.”

Dremal: “You can't cure the effect? And don't worry about feeling defenseless. I am here to protect you as well. The two in this area are dead so until another gives birth or something else happens we are safe here too.”

Alice: “I.... Thank.... you.” She looks beat red when she says this and even though her eyes turn away from me her head doesn't. Super cute!

(Dremal): “Sköll, I saw your status before how do I see it again? Mine and Alice's are lock, but I heard that you can't get above me in levels. Which means you can get to the same as mine and hers. I would like to use yours to generals what level we are at now.” I walk over and pick up the loot. After the bodies disappeared. Which the loot was two more stingers and 1 white energy orb. Placing them in my backpack I took out more herbs to eat gaining my mostly depleted mana back. I then rip open a couple over the mouth of Alice for her to drink and recover as well. Even though she can't move still.

(Sköll): “Certainly, just think of our link then think status in your mind.”
