Corwin watched as the priestess examined the black tome. She took some time and carefully took out several tools to take a closer look. Eventually she came to her conclusion.

“This is a corrupted holy book and it would be valuable to purify it. Unfortunately purifying the corruption will require another demonic artifact. I’m hoping you’re able to find it in another hatchery.”

Corwin then received a notification.

You have received a main storyline quest: Purify the Holy Book. To complete your quest you must find the demonic artifact Eye of Naxthos. This Eye is used to corrupt holy objects but can also be used to reverse corruption. Search for the Eye of Naxthos in demonic hatcheries

This quest appealed to Corwin as he felt he could complete it sooner than the quest around ridding all the hatcheries in the Verdure Kingdom. He also felt that purifying the book might give the temple (or him) a powerful artifact. Great rewards were an exciting possibility.

Corwin realized his gear was at level 31, meaning he was probably strong enough to take on the level 30 hatchery he had found during his travels throughout the kingdom. Corwin proceeded there immediately, hoping he could find the eye easily.

He slogged his way through the demonic spawn patrolling the blight. He slogged his way through demon dogs. Finally, he entered the hatchery. Inside he found something rather unique. A large dark eye hung from the ceiling of the hatchery, and within it was a smaller demonic eye. Corwin suspected this smaller eye was the one he was looking for.

He used his Qi Blade to slash the eye down causing it to fall from the ceiling. The larger eye shattered, but the smaller remained unaffected. The crashing sound brought the anchor stone guard from the next room into this one. Corwin once more prepared to battle a demonic spawn. This time he faced a sloth demon.

Corwin used his haste to fight the demon’s slow ability and became a blur as the demon desperately tried everything in his power to hit him. Nothing seemed to work. Fairly soon, Corwin had the initiative and was attacking aggressively. The demon’s HP started to fall quickly. Soon it reached 80%. Corwin received a nasty agility debuff. He continued to dodge effectively as the buff from the haste ability was quite substantial. The demon reached 60% HP. Another agility debuff followed and this time Corwin was hittable. Fortunately, few blows landed and Corwin was at 85% health when the demon reached 40%. With 3 stacks of the agility debuff on him Corwin faced substantial pressure. The demon connected often and Corwin’s health fell quickly. He was forced into using an intermediate health potion before the demon reached 20% health.

When the 4th stack of the agility debuff hit, Corwin could barely dodge anymore. He maximized his parry and used his skills to counter blows. Well timed uses of techniques did damage and the demon slowly got chipped away at. Finally, it reached 5% health. Fortunately, the powerful ultimate of this demon was hidden behind a long timer. Corwin was equal to dispatching it before any skill arrived. It was a close thing however, as he had a mere 2 seconds to spare.

Corwin picked up the eye and went in the other room to destroy the anchor stone. He took a piece of the anchor stone so he could extend the duration of the countdown on his unfortunate curse.

When Corwin headed back to the temple so quickly the priestess was rather surprised. The eye was a powerful artifact and one they had not expected would be easily found. The priestess began to use it to purify the book. Unfortunately, the curse was too powerful and priestess suffered a backlash. Fortunately, she was able to contain the damage and ended up cursed instead of dead.

A main storyline quest: Purify the Holy Book has been updated. To complete your quest you must find a purification crystal. This crystal can be used to weaken the corruption on the holy book so that the Eye of Naxthos can remove it.

Corwin wasn’t entirely shocked. He didn’t think a main storyline quest would be this easy. Unfortunately, there were no hints on where to get a purification crystal. Corwin didn’t think it was likely Demon’s would have them. Corwin racked his brains for a way to get them. Unfortunately, none of the ways he knew would work before his Tier 1 quest. He supposed he’d have to delay that piece until after his quest.
