《Eternity's Wake》Chapter 45

Corwin decided the next thing to do was level up. Taking on another hatchery was pressing both because of the curse and the main storyline quest. To do that well, he needed levels. Corwin was in a level 26 zone, taking advantage of negating 4.8 levels of level suppression. This meant he was only suppressed by 1.2 levels despite the huge XP gap. Levelling to 21 went quickly. Upon levelling he upgraded all his equipment by 2 levels. When his equips reached level 25 he got a nasty surprise. His equips now required bronze equipment to be levelled up. Fortunately, Corwin had recipes. Unfortunately, crafting would take time. Corwin headed back to town and crafted an additional 60 equipment of each type, 420 equipment in total. This would be enough to get his gear to level 37, which is as high as it would go from his reaching level 30. With that done he upgraded his equipment to level 26 and resumed his levelling.
With 1 level higher and 0.4 more levels of level suppression it was time to try out a level 28 zone. This resulted in a manageable 1.8 levels of suppression. Corwin’s pace at killing enemies was slightly slower but he still levelled quickly. Even with the experience reduced by 99.22%, the huge totals from it being 163,840x as much XP made up for it. Each enemy was the XP equivalent of almost 460 enemies at level 21. Level 21 was expected to take 5 days, so it required 7200 enemies to be killed. After killing 16 level 28 enemies in roughly 30m Corwin levelled up. While Corwin was moving to a level 29 zone, he receive two troubling notifications.
Congratulations to Beowulf. He is the first character in Eternity’s Wake to complete a main storyline quest arc. He receives a secret Tier 1 class.
The quest arc ‘Blessings of Asterith’ has been completed in the Denovia Kingdom. For the next 30 days, Advanced Tier 1 classes will be available in the capital city, Marraze.
Something suspicious was happening. Corwin hadn’t altered the Denovia kingdom at all and it was over a week too early for a main storyline quest to complete. Corwin was hoping to complete his main storyline quest first and use the advanced classes to create a solid backbone of good members in the guild. Instead, the Denovia kingdom will undergo a renaissance. Regardless, there was nothing Corwin could do about it now.

Corwin continued to grind, reaching level 22. He upgraded his gear once more and set off for a level 30 zone. Near the level 30 zone he discovered a level 25 hatchery. He’d be back to kill that one soon. 30m later he was level 23. He then travelled to a level 31 zone, and used 30m to become level 24. It was barely worthwhile to travel to the next zone, the travel time taking slightly less time than the time to kill double the number of enemies for a level. Corwin finally travelled to a level 32 zone and used it to reach level 25. Upon reaching level 25 he upgraded his gear to level 30 and again to level 31. Right as he finished upgrading his equipment Corwin received another notification.
Congratulations to Veira for being the first in Eternity’s Wake to reach Apprentice Miner. Rewarding with 1 Miner’s Pickaxe (Iron Tier) and 16,000,000 XP.
Veira wasn’t in the same continent so Corwin received none of the other notifications, but he knew they’d be the same as what he had received when he reached apprentice first. He knew he couldn’t keep getting all the global notifications forever, but was sad to see two of them come from players outside his guild in rapid succession.
Corwin was now ready to take on the level 25 hatchery. He fought his way through waves of demon dogs patrolling the blight. As he got more experienced with fighting the demon dogs he took less damage from the swarms despite their exceptional speed. Corwin was finally able to do more than just tank hits and trade blows against those lightning quick monsters.
As a result, he was in full health after having consumed just a single potion in the waves of demon dogs outside. Inside the hatchery was a demon form suspended in some sort of gel like fluid. This was visible through a clear glass tube. The demon was a winged fallen angel type. She was admittedly quite pretty, despite the horns. Regardless, Corwin knew that if this body was possessed, bad things would happen in Asterith, not just in the Verdure Kingdom. So Corwin worked on destroying the tube. As he did, an enemy interrupted him. Corwin looked over that enemy.
Luciferous Demon, Elite Superior Lord
Hit Points 400,000/400,000
Mana Pool 100,000/100,000
Luciferous demons were demon followers of Lucifer the fallen angel. They varied a lot, but this one seemed a brute. Big and strong, but not very smart or crafty. An Elite Superior Lord would pose quite a challenge solo, but it was one Corwin relished.

Corwin dove into the fight excitedly. Fortunately, the demon didn’t appear to have much agility and Corwin easily dodged most of his attacks. There was a nasty AoE that occasionally hit him for damage, but he was staying well ahead. At 80% health, the Luciferous demon let out a giant bellow and applied it’s special ability. “One winged angel” summoned a fallen Angel for 10 seconds which unleashed one powerful charged attack. Corwin was powerless to stop this attack, and did well to throw out multiple skills before the attack landed. The skills offset the damage somewhat and Corwin only lost 60% of his HP. Unimpeded this attack was strong enough to kill a player fully geared in higher level epic equipment. Corwin made sure to heal to full before he reduced the demon to 60% HP. The same tactics continued working and fairly soon the demon was down to 20% health. Corwin survived the “one winged angel” summon once more by relying on skills to reduce its impact. Bursting the demon down to near 5% health was once again straightforward. Finally, Corwin had to race an ultimate skill in the last 5%. Luciferous Demon’s ultimate skill is to permanently summon a one-winged angel. Like all summons it would vanish when the summoner was killed. Corwin didn’t stop the summon. Fortunately, he killed the Luciferous Demon before the summon finished charging its attack.
The loot on the Luciferous Demon was a dark book, which Corwin knew was a quest item, something to bring back to the temple. There was no other loot save for 16 magic crystals, which Corwin happily took. Corwin destroyed the anchor stone in the next room of the hatchery and finished destroying the fallen angel body in the glass tube. He then took the loot back to the temple and waited to see what this item would reveal on the quest line.

All Griff ever wanted out of life was to be left alone in his library with his books. In order to keep his station in the library, he is forced to work with an upstart alchemist named Nicholas Flamel. When the experiment goes awry Griff and Nick must trek along the countryside to reach the Library of Alexandria. Dodging both African and European armies would be so much easier if Griff wasn't a two-story dragon."
8 59Thera
The Mystic Turtle. They stand with the Elder Dragons and the Spirit Dryads as creatures of legend. Timeless. Immortal. They live solitary lives, drawing power from their own soul. Yet, this power is not attained easily, for as Thera will learn, the life of a baby Mystic Turtle is full of trials and tribulations... She will scour ancient sunken ruins, survive the dangers lurking in the depths of the sea, and, perhaps one day, grow to become a Mystic Turtle that surpasses even legend. 8 282Maou the Yuusha
Out of seemingly nothing, a girl comes into existence in an odd world. It’s explained to her that she is the being known as the “Maou”, an entity that comes into existence when a “Yuusha” is summoned. The humans of this world think she intends to destroy them all and thus send the Yuusha to destroy her. Contrary to their belief however, the Maou has no intentions of destroying anyone. The Maou has one year to find a solution and save herself from destruction. Is this a story about a misunderstood hero, or is it about the rise of the darkest villain?Credit for the cover art goes to NightSerenity.

The story is set in a planet that is a replica of the earth in the author's imagination. All characters and events in the story are purely fictional and do not reflect historical facts. The story combines martial arts football and Romance.
8 173Desolate Stars
Human civilisation has at last settled into their place in the galaxy. Trade flourishes and civilisation resurges. Technology is finally catching up to the wonders of days bygone. But that’s only on the surface. Humanity is always a little uglier beneath the skin. A life among the stars. Travelling. Seeing new sights. Is it a good life? Is it a bad life? That depends. Because usually it isn’t that simple. And it’s never the stars you have to watch out for, it’s the people around you. Kik is soon shoved into a position he has no choice but to take. He’s just a tool in the great game of galactic politics. But every tool has their uses, and this particular tool has his own will. This is a science fiction adventure story. I’m attempting to go with gritty realism.

As an author, I'd like to interact with my community and get ideas and what I can improve on. I'm not perfect and don't expect a masterpiece. I may have a bit of experience writing as a hobby, I make mistakes and my style is a bit rough around the edges. I hope you stick around and watch me build this story up. I don't have a predetermined schedule and the releases will be slow. Since I got college, my schedule is most likely 1-2 chapters a month but that shouldn't be that bad since I get some time to think about what I can write in the story. Again, my apologies for that. I hope I have your support moving forward and that you enjoy the characters and their journies.
