《Nano Mage》Chapter 19 Mentor

With a loud thud I drop into my chair. My foot rams the table above. A gentle chuckle escapes from Roaming Thunder’s lips. “The table was here first! Give it the respect it deserves!” I am still to deep in thought to respond. (Fuck that hurt!) Even with nanobots coursing through every cell in my body, stubbing a toe still hurts like crazy. It is a relief that the pain does not persist more than a few minutes.
Shadow Void slams his food tray onto our table, causing Edge and his crew to back away. If I did not know better I would say that had gotten into a scruff with him. “Hey what is that dessert you have there?” I am staring at the blue blob of cake, with slices of lemon like fruit, or maybe more like oranges on top, something like pudding is used as a frosting. Just as I finish analyzing the strange site, Shadow Void shoves it into my mouth while saying. “Ah.” The texture was smooth, and the sour to sweet ratio was perfect, but once I swallowed I had a premonition. Just like how I thought Roaming Thunder stormed off to the cafeteria.
Roaming Thunder
I was having such a nice time sitting with Sylphire, then Shadow Void had to ruin it. I can play his game as well. I had a large stockpile of funds saved up, and now I would be using them to purchase the most extravagant of desserts. Ice cream margarine pie, pudding crumble cookies, rich apple taffy, and caramel rose hip doughnuts. Doughnuts were something that originated the Mythic continent, I am certain Sylphire will appreciate them.
Sylphire
When Roaming Thunder returned there was a mountain of deserts toppling over her tray. The amount could only be described in one word, feast. “Boy you must be hungry Roaming,” “Ah” I could not finish saying her name before a spoon full of taffy entered my mouth. After the taffy came the ice cream margarine pie, which looked like it would fall off the fork any minute. I could not bare to let it tumble to the ground so I gave in like an idiot. In the next moment I started to choke. It is not like I would die, but those around me would not know that. I caught a glimpse of Edge who had a grin on his face the moment he noticed the situation.

Shadow Void
(Shit Sylphire is chocking!) I rushed over to the herbal garden and scooped up a glowing red liquid. Right they use this in the event of chocking, I need to hurry.
Sylphire
I could feel my breaths growing shorter between. Suddenly Shadow Void returned. I noticed him unscrewing a jar with a glowing red liquid, what was that? He preys my mouth open, and pours the liquid down my throat. It felt like my tongue was on fire. Suddenly the piece of food lodged between my throat dissolves. I am confused, but that confusion is soon replaced by a horrible after taste from the liquid. I need something to rid my tongue of this awful taste. “Hey Roaming Thunder are those doughnuts?” “Yeah.” Her voices can barely be heard. I scoop up a handful and start wolfing them down. “Careful you might chock again.” I slow down upon Shadow Voids warning.
“Okay now that lunch is out of the way, lets get down to the topic at hand!” I state loudly to the two, who likely forgot the real reason for this gathering. We came her to discuss what each of us had decided to do for our work placement, and as a farewell before we leave tomorrow. “Right the work placement. For myself I am thinking of studying under a magic blacksmith.” Roaming Thunder’s lightning magic would likely be able to alter the mineral composition of the ores, making it a good fit for her. “As for me, I was having trouble deciding between to jobs, but after today, I have come to a firm decision. I will take the job studying magic potions!” Is it my imagination or does it seem like he has grown a little more intelligent? “So what will you be doing Sylphire?” When their words over lap, they start to glare at one another. “I will take the job working with the magical enchanter.” Their lively faces suddenly grow pale, and in the next instant they were gone. “Well thanks for easing my anxiety guys,” I speak to empty air.

I have been climbing mountains for days. (Why the fuck does an enchanter live so far away?) I spot the small forest on top of the mountain, it has a river running between two sides. On the right side of the forest just a few inches away from the river is a small cabin. I approach the door. I notice symbols carved into its frame. The symbols begin to glow, then the river explodes. A young man with a hatched in one hand and a carving knife in the other opens the door. “Just don’t stand there, help me get the pieces!”
