“As promised here are some ropes and a potion that will make the cold go away for a while”
The old woman went back to her chair and we left the hut.
“Well guess that settles that, I am ready are you guys?” Elisa was really eager.
“How you holding up Cortez?” He is bent over like he is about to puke.
“Lets watch our step over by the cliff, it should be really slippery, we don’t want to fall to our death right?” Cortez almost pukes.
“Cmn Elisa, don’t be like that” Elisa saw that she went a bit overboard.
“Sorry, I will stop now.” Cortez puts his thumb up as he tries to catch his breath.
“Cortez, lets strap ourselves in ok? Make sure that knot is tight!” We all made the right adjustments.
“Drink it, Elisa!” She drank her potion and she jumped in the air once, she slowly flew down, we almost had to drag her down.
“You guys ready?” Cortez was trying his best to keep it together.
“Lets get this over with! Sky, you ready?”
“Lets do it!” I slapped my face a bit to get more ready.
“Wait wait! I just realized something, Cortez get over here!” I summoned Cortez to me.
I hugged him.
“W-What are you doing?!” Cortez tried to get away.
“If we just jump out we will be slammed right into each other! Think of the momentum. Elisa will be still above us and the ropes will automatically go straight down, meaning we will be slammed into each other, so we jump together!
“Here we GO! Yahooooo!” Elisa yelled!
Cortex and I jumped right after.
I could feel my stomach being sucked in by the drop, but we quickly slowed down because of Elisa.

“I have never been this safe in a mans arm before, thank you Sky!” his nose was sniffing as he was crying a little.
We slowed down as started levitating down.
“Don’t look down, Cortez!” Elisa smiled.
“Seriously don’t look down, look at me!” Cortez looked me straight in the eyes, I have never seen anyone that afraid in a long time!
“Sky, hold me!”
“Ok big guy, calm down, just close your eyes and think of something nice, like---“ Elisa stopped me mid sentence.
“Pineapple! Think of that!” We both were puzzled.
“Why the hell would he think of that? How can that help in anyway?”
“I don’t know, works for me!”
“You think about pineapples when your afraid? Why?”
“Well it all started when---“
“Yeah, just forget I asked please.”
“Its actually helping!” Cortez was trying hard to keep his eyes close.
“P-pineapple of all things? Well whatever works buddy”
Down at the hillside.
“I see someone floating down! This is our chance!” Raul was aiming.
“What really?” Odin ran over to Raul.
“I can get a clean shot from here!”
“Raul, wait, we shouldn’t be doing this! Those are lives!” Odin tried to stop him.
“Get off me!” Raul shot the arrow and hit Elisa in the stomach!
The arrow hit the rope that was tied to Cortez and it snapped
“Cortez!!!” Those eyes were something I hope I never see again, it was like I was looking into a dead mans eyes. I could see him falling over a big icy field.
“Elisa you alright?!” She didn’t answer and we were falling down fast as well, we started rotating around in circles insanely fast before I managed to cut the rope.

I flew away so fast I couldn’t position myself in the air I was aimlessly going round and round as I hit a tree filled with snow, I wasn’t badly damaged because of the snow pillow. I could still see my party.
Cortez was alive, but Elisa was badly injured and unconscious.
“Cortez can you hear me? How you holding up?! Cortez!” It was silent for a second, but then he started talking, barely.
“Holy shit! That is the last time I will think of pineapple in a dire situation!” he was breathing heavily and stuttering.
“What happened to you? I can see the frost debuff, but you didn’t lose that much health? How did you pull that off?” He was catching his breath.
“ As I fell I drew the bow and shot the ice beneath me to pieces with one shot, then I was sucked away with the current under the ice before I managed to break through and that was like 10 seconds ago, wow I am cold!” I could hear the shivering in his teeth.
“Drink the potion we got from the old lady it should help!”
“Good call.” He drank the potion and the debuff disappeared.
“Who shot us down? I want a piece of them! I can probably track them down with my tracking gear.” He switched gear.
“We should get to Elisa first, she is badly hurt, unconscious and moving?”
“What is going on?” Cortez was confused.
“Someone is trying to kidnap Elisa! Not on my watch, lets go Cortez!”
Cortez changed his sniper gear because it was wet.
“Odin let’s go!” Raul ran out of the cave.
“H-hey wait up!” Odin followed.
“I cant wait to see what kind of gear they had, finally!” Raul reached the location where Cortez fell, Odin caught up.
“Where is he?” after searching around, Cortez could not be found.
“Look over there” There was a hole in the ice.
“He probably pierced the ice and got sucked forward by the stream.”
“Lets follow it” Raul lead the way.
“Look over there!” Odin noticed an ice crack where Cortez had managed to escape from.
Odin and Raul checks it out.
“You can clearly see that he got up here and went that way, he can’t have gotten far!”
The snow was wet and trampled upon by Cortez.
“Where are we going?” Raul is the only one who can see the footsteps because of his tracking, even though its snow.
“I can see some feint footsteps leading towards the city, keep up Odin!”
“Tsk” Odin got mad.
Cortez and Sky met up at the location where Elisa landed.
“She has been dragged by a sled or something, Sky, follow me!”

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
