《Ruthless Reincarnator》Intermission Chapter 7

An old and crooked woman was flying up in the skies.
Magical bombardment started against it as soon as the magic barrier was trespassed.
A loud alarm rang all around the town.
That was a black-seeded demon.
A black-seed had entered Ishtar.
No one wanted to believe that.
Clerics launched a barrier of spells against it while dragon-riders made it to the skies. Maticores, griffons and other winged animals were sent against the devil, as guards approached it, ready to lose their own lives.
The Pope itself began chanting a great magic, and the skies darkened. A piece of the sky broke, and for a moment it was as if the Heavens Themselves had descended into the earth - as the image of an Angel appeared, its hands going towards the demon.
Still, the old woman simply passed through all of that. Those who tried to launch attacks against it either had their souls corrupted or simply failed.
Even dragonfire was useless against it. The thing passed right through the dragons, while completely ignoring them.
No one could believe. Not even His Holiness.
That was when the Black Mages made their move.
A battalion of over a hundred Black-Robed people flew in the sky, and that was when the woman stopped.
It was as if it could only see those in front of it.
And still, they all vanished without a trace. A single movement from the womans’ finger was enough for a blast of power to turn all of those feared beings into nothingness.
Cavalry, magic beasts, entire pavilions, all was thrown against that thing.
Then again, all that happened was the death of hundreds.
The church began preparations. The Pope sacrificed its own blood and flesh, and a powerful angel descended from the skies.
It had a noble face, and many thought that salvation had finally come for them!

An angel, a real angel!
Still, that face soon turned into one of surprise, and then… fear.
Boundless white light came from it, and two, three… a hundred, a thousand… the skies had so many angels that their holy light eclipsed the brilliance of the sun.
Magic of immense power and heat trapped the witch into a dimensional cage. Space and time had been bent and cried in pain.
To no avail.
The witch looked down.
It saw a middle-aged man, the waiter of a local pub.
It descended until it was face-to-face with it.
Fear worse than death could be seen in the eyes of that man.
“- I don’t know why you have been hiding, or why did you evacuate the city, but that is an offense to me. Besides, aren’t you too weak? I can barely feel any magic from you. Have my sons and daughters lost their way along the path?”
Hanzou was his name.
He couldn’t even utter a single word.
“- An emperor and all you manage to do is to shudder before me?”
The things’ eyes pierced his heart.
“- Also, what are you doing, hiding as a peasant ?”
Some time passed.
“- Useless. You can’t even answer me. I should know by myself them.”
The demoness touched the mans’ face, and it began to fade away, just like a dream.
Except, it soon returned, a thing above all others.
A devil.
“- I see. Tiphoon has declined a lot. It seems even meager power like mine is enough to scare a country to death. Still, I didn’t expect for Lucid Dream of Reality to take so long to form a body for me. Three months since I began to wake. Of course all of you had time to prepare.”

It took its hand from the mans’ head, and then placed it on its hips.
“- Elves wouldn’t pick my interest if I am to look like a monstrosity to them. I want to experience a little bit of life amongst you people. So… lets level your country for now.”
The thing raised its hands while hundreds of angels ran towards it. It was clear that whatever it intended to do, it was awful.
And then…
Blinding light. Barren land.
If not for the mountains and valleys, Hanzou would have thought he had been transported to another place entirely.
All was death. He dropped on the ground. He gritted his teeth. His mind in pieces.
At the cell, a master and apprentice where both holding their Seals.
Whatever that monster was, of a single thing they could be sure - no one could oppose it.
