Chapter 4: Common Sense
"A head-butt!?"
"Hero, what's wrong?"
"The demon lord, who brought the entire planet to the brink of destruction, who took over all major cities in no time at all, who should have absolutely, positively, without a doubt should have won in that situation, was brought down………………...with a head-butt!?"
Nathan shook his head in disbelief.
“Heh, heh, heh”
“What’s so funny?”
"You tell such funny jokes, you of all people should that was not a head-butt.
"Then, what did you call colliding head first into someone?
"Well of course, it was the……. “Azure Strike”."
“……………………What?”
“Hear let me demonstrate.”
Iris flew up to the ceiling and then positioning herself with her head towards the floor, then hurled herself towards the ground. With her arms crossed over her chest, she crashed right into the mirror and shattered it, then somehow landed on one knee, sliding for several feet before coming to a stop. With her eyes still close stood up and looked in Nathan direction.
"…......................”
"See, it was a “Azure Strike”, though I fall short compared to yours by a large margin.
“……………. Why did you break the mirror?”
Nathan thought to himself, there is no way in hell he did something so embarrassing.
"There is no way in hell I did something so embarrassing and "Azure Strike, (what a stupid name), I wasn't diving, I was falling. There was nothing heroic about it."
Nathan let out a sigh, it figures, his legend came down a glorified wrestling move. No grandeur feat, no heroic battle, he didn’t even get a cool entrance, the only thing he did right, was to arrive in the nick of time. Iris took notice of his frustration.
"Hero, I think you are misunderstanding the term Legend.
“Huh?”
One doesn't become a legend by how the feat is accomplished, but instead what they accomplish. Rather you were fallen or diving, nothing changes the fact that you're the reason why Leseres exist today. To me, no to everyone in this world, you are legend and none may say otherwise.
Iris bowed her head.
So, on behalf of the world, "Hero", Thank You for saving us."
Nathan turned red again as he rushed to stop Iris from bowing, if some willing to go that far, it kind of hard to be depressed.
"Stop that, you’re making me blush."
"Hehehehehe, oh hero there something I don't understand, if you say you were falling, how exactly did you crash into that barrier with so much force, the legends say you were like a comet, you must have been diving and just forgotten.”

"Diving, shmiving, I was thrown."
"You were………thrown?"
"Yeah, halfway through that light some woman grabbed my hand and with some herculean like strength, threw me like I was a light as a feather, over her shoulder, as hard as she could, downward, I mean seriously though who just go around throwing people………well I guess I do, but those guys had it coming, I swear.”
Nathan continued to rant, Iris stared at him in surprise.
"Hero, you remembered."
"Huh, remembered what?"
"You said a woman threw you."
"I did, ah!"
"Are sure you can't remember?"
"I…………...don't know, it feels like it's right there, but I just can't seem to grasp it.
Nathan strained, but all he accomplished was to bring back his headache. Just what would cause him to forget something so important, what did he see. Thinking about just depress him, and the more he thought, the more it felt like he was forgetting.
"Ughhh, well, my headache came back at least."
"Hero, I'm sorry, if I had not mentioned it you would not be suffering."
"Meh, don't sweat it, you were just trying to help.
"Still."
Iris begin to become depress, Nathan quickly intervened
"Stop, you apologize again and I'll head-butt you, so says my legend."
"It....... was an "Azure Strike” and thank you.
Iris once again bowed.
"I get it, I get it, no more bowing. Sheesh!"
"Heheheheh, it seems we are going in circles."
They both begin to laugh, with it, the depressing air was cleared.
"Though there’s something I don’ get, If the demon lord took my body when she vanished and I'm here now, doesn’t that mean that mean that Amelia had something to do with Elphina?"
"I thought so as well, I'm not too sure, I believe after your body vanished, Amelia retrieve you and brought you here for recuperation."
"Yeah, but how did she get me back from Elphina, was she really that strong of a person to pull one over on someone who nearly destroyed the world, if she could get to me and get away from Elphina intact why was she not mentioned in the legend, now that I think about it no one besides races were mentioned in it"
"Ah, that was due to relations with each race, to keep one race from claiming a bigger role in the war then they actually did, all names of important people were left out so that one may focus on the hero's deeds. As for Amelia, again I'm not sure."

"This Amelia is looking real suspect right now, Okay I get she saved me but, come on, if the entire freaking world couldn't stop her, how the heck could Amelia by herself retrieve me, ridiculous."
"Even so that does not change the fact that you are here now, which means at some point she must have retrieve you."
Iris just was not getting it; Nathan had already come to a conclusion about Amelia but, either she was really strong or she had something to do with Elphina. Common sense would dictate those to options, but for right now he would keep his thoughts to himself.
"Well we found out sooner or later for now let's talk about something more important."
"Something important?"
"Magic of course. Where are the spell books?"
"Um, there three rows down and to the left but how will you-
Before she could finish her sentence, Nathan was already half way there. Making a beeline to the shelves, he was amaze at the sheer quantity of them. Even if he didn't trust Amelia, he had to respect her for this. While he stared up in awe, Iris caught up to him.
"Hero."
"Come on Iris, speed up.
"Hero I was trying to ask, how exactly where you plan on reading these books?"
"With my eyes, I imagine.”
"But, did you not say that you can't read this language?"
"…...............................dammit."
Nathan was about to collapse on his feet when a light bulb when off.
"Iris you can just read them out to me, like with the history book?
"I don't believe so, these tomes are special, the one who reads them firsthand, will be the one to learn the spells within, reading them aloud, will only benefit me.
And with that Nathan collapsed into heap on the floor. Fate just seems to never be on his side.
"Hero", even if you can't read this language, maybe you could read one of the others."
"These books aren't all the same language?"
"No there are abundance of languages in this world, this place reflects that. “Perhaps there is a language among them that is similar to your worlds................."Hero"?"
Nathan was no longer paying Iris any mind, with will renewed vigor and fire in his eyes he begins to search each book, careful not to miss anything.
"……………...Hero I've already combed this area and these books all have the same language I'm afraid."
Nathan walked over to Iris and began pulling on her cheeks.
"Would please stop leaving out details and tell me everything at once."
"Sorry, thib waiy leag tu difrenb languges."
Iris with red swollen cheeks, lead Nathan to a different part of the library.
"Here we are, these languages differ from the one before."
"Alright."
Nathan wasted no time open the closes book.
"Crap, can't read this one, or this one, or this one. No, no, no, no, no, oh come on.
"Hero don't give up, I'm sure will find at least one."
"Don't raise death flags."
Nathan continued his search, shapes and symbols outlined book after book, yet there is nothing here that was remotely identifiable to him.
"…......................I give up, none of these books are readable."
"Hero, why don't you learn this world language, then you could read at least the books from before."
"I already thought of that, but trying to learn another language from my world is tedious enough, but a language from another world, symbols I never seen before, practically impossible."
"Yes, but if you want to learn these spells, there is no other choice. In the meantime, you'll just have to make do with your own default magic."
"Yeah I guess you right....................wait what default magic?"
"You know, the spells that are displayed on your Status Screen.
"Status Screen, I have a Status Screen?"
"*Giggle*, Of course you do, everyone has one, it's common sense, you speak as if you didn't know"
Nathan grabbed Iris's cheeks and stretch them out, once again.
"Of course I don't know about it, your world and my world common sense is completely different. No more leaving anything out, explain it."
"owb thab hurd. On yod chesb. Lef shuler, insidnia."
"My left shoulder……………. what the, she gave me a tattoo as well?"
On his there was an insignia, it was a simple circle with four lines stretching from the cardinal points and stop halfway from meeting in the center. Nathan wasn't in the least bit surprised anymore, of all the changes in his body this was the least fazing.
"Just place your hand on its surface."
Nathan did as he was instructed.
*Shiiiinnnnngg*

Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
