Hello guys... and girls... so, I was wondering, are any of you guys feminist? or just meminist? Cause personally I am a feminist. Cause little life-story, I got hit by another guy, it kinda hurt, I pissed off a girl... and my shins have broken like they were kicked once: cracked, kicked twice: and they... snapped. I value my shins and don't want to let anybody else suffer the same fate, so everybody!!! STAY AWAY FROM GIRLS!!! WE ARE THE ANTI-SOCIALISTSSSSSSSSSS"... anyway... don't piss of any girls that are capable of dodging bombs and shit.
I see we've made it to over 155 followers! And right at 30 Favorites! I thought that my story would die but it's alive... it's alive!!! It's alive!!! Also, I will start to add caption to the dialogue. And big lines for seperation... Cause I guess it'll be easier for readers?
Check the one-shot that I just crappily put together HERE.
After that, just going to mention, either thursday, or weekends, will be my release days. Friday is a weekend day for me.
Okay, enough rambling, enjoy the chap. !
-3 days after hell valley drop off-
"I'm depressed..."
(Kris)
...
-Back upstairs-
"wow... right after he realized he couldn't use magic he got all depressed... I don't think he's moved in 3 days except to experiment or hunt, he just always returns to that spot to do nothing..."
(Demon Lord)
"It's no biggy, Kris will find something good about the situation, he usually does!"
(Colby)
"Yeah, yeah... back to your hell training Colby... tehehehe... I'll train you till you'd rather trade places with kris..."
(Purple Hair)
"Oho? Don't you think that umm... you're rushing things? I mean... uhh we haven't really got intimate yet..."
(Colby)
"Oh, no... I meant... the magical combat hell training course that I specially made for you... fufufu... you'll wish you were dead..."
(Purple hair)
"NUUUUUUUUU!!! I'M SORRY FOR MAKING FUN OF YOU KRISSSSSS!!! ... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
(Colby)
-5th day-
Huh. I don't know why, but I don't really feel as depressed as before... who cares. Now... gah! I'm hungry! Just what was the reason I got so depressed? Huh... I can't remember...
I go off into the woods to look for a [Hippopondo]. It seems that they are carnivorous and like eating animals smaller than themselves. But actually just laze around since they're afraid of the [Fluffflowers]. So, I keep on looking till I find one...
Oh! I found one!
It's lazing around like most of them do. I quickly launch my strings. I had eventually figured out how to use the contraptions on my belts, cause it was really similar to that anime I watched, except it's really hard to use the contraptions. I'll just call them [String Spinners]for now...
Anyways, Today I was experimenting and the up part, is that I can store my strings instead of making them immediately. Because it takes me a few hours to make a full set of string, so I just store everything in the [String Spinners] for now... another pro is that when I launch out my strings, it is #1. Faster, and #2.
...
WAY FREAKING COOLERRRRRRRRRRRRR
Like, it starts shooting out the strings really fast and then I could control, with [Shadow Weaving]. So if I make use of the [String Spinner]'s speed, and my [Shadow Weaving]'s control, I theoretically have no openings! I've also discovered lots of different ways to use string now. For one, I can change the String's quality to up to 3 different types. First, of course, I can make parts of my string super sharp. Second, I can make it really sticky, Third, I can make really hard string. The hard string can be formed into stuff, but to make something even as big as only a lunch-box sized cube, I'd have to use up most of my current string.
I also got curious and examined my string dagger. It is consisted of Lot's of hard string, with sticky string weaving through some parts, and the surface is coated with all really sharp string, except the handle. Which is made of sticky string. I made it a bit less sticky so that the grip is good, but doesn't get in my way.
So, I have a really o.p weapon so far right now... YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!
But... what'll I do when it breaks? It seems that I could make another one if I wanted, but the first was just created by the "system" maybe as a freebee with the [shadow weaver] class?
who cares... there's no wayyyyy that it'll break.
Authors note: kekekee... this is what we call foreshadowing... kekeke...
"ACHOO!"
(Kris)
Huh? Why did I just feel a strange chill on my back?
Ah. The [Hippopondo] woke up. Lunch time!
I seem to appear behind it as it rises to look at me. Well, if you have good eyes, you can see me stepping on some pre-laid string, and kinda slingshotting myself at it... anyways, to a normal person... I look pretty cool! (If I say so myself).
Then I slash as hard as I can at it's neck, but as I expected, it had a pretty thick hide. Like my previous hunts, I only did this to annoy it. Then I used my dashing speed to get away from it. Now, as routine, I led it to a set of trees. Then I quickly dashed through doing seemingly pointless maneuvers and flips.
But as soon as the [Hippopondo] charged through, it seemingly got cut up by invisible swords! While it struggled painfuly through the sharp wire string trap I had set-up before hand, I lifted it's chin and found the weak spot. It was hidden by a flap that was fat, hard, and rough. But then, there was a soft fleshy spot which was presumed the throat. I mercilessly slit the [Hippopondo]'s throat with my dagger and manipulated the wire trap to return to my spinner's. I started skinning....
Phew! Finally done!
I take out some firewood from my inventory. Cutting trees is really easy now, due to [Shadow Weaving], but it took me a whole day to figure out how to make a fire... I just ended up starting it with an old fashioned spinning a twig on wood to build up friction and make a fire... I wish I could be a mage and shoot fireballs... then making a fire would be easy....
sigh... I'm depressed... then... all of a sudden...
I'm about 50 meters in the air again.
"Huh?"
(Kris)
"Oh... another [Fluffflower]... sigh..."
(Kris)
I take my dagger and whip it at the center of the gigantic flower, where a mouth with gruesome vines are wriggling about. The dagger flies true, and strikes right into the core of the flower. It spurts green slime, and slowly dies...
Or so I thought. Cause I didn't really notice that I had not gotten an exp notice yet. And right when I prepared to pull out my dagger, it happened.
The seemingly dead [Fluffflower] whipped out it's vines at me and I was suddenly in a really dangerous position.
Uh... hmmm... stay calm... right. I release my strings and lo-and-behold, it looked like a gigantic flower holding something in it's vines, except the vines had dark strings shooting out and spinning around.
I quickly spin around my strings around me and cover my self. Ugh... I think my left arm was squeezed too tight... damn it's broken. I quickly pull out my dagger and swing it way behind me. Using the momentum like a sling, I yank the strings connected to the dagger and it changes direction headed straight for the [Fluffflower].

"*SHINK*"
[Ding]!
+125 EXP!
[Ping-ling-ling~]!
Level Up!
"Whew~... "
(Kris)
-Later-
Whew! I managed to spit-roast another piece of [Hippopondo-Meat]! It's surprisingly delish!
I look around. It seems that I've cleared this area quite a lot... there's no sign of any monster's near me. I take stock on my inventory:
INVENTORY:WeaponsEquipmentItemsFood
[/tr]
"..."
"Huh."
(Kris)
I go to press [Weapons] first:
Weapons:StringSpinners:(equipped)NoneNoneNoneNoneNonenone
Well, so it seems that you can equip or have a max of 4 weapons ready to use or equip instantly. The rest are in [Inventory: Items]. It also appears that [StringSpinners] are counted as a weapon, but I don't have anything else... T-T... moving on, if you click on a weapon like this....
StringSpinnersRank:SDurability:Very High Description:2 spinning contraptions on belts meant for storing and launching string. Made out of enchanted igneous and enchanted metal. Seems to be crafted for the purpose of fighting instead of utility.
I see, it describes the weapon, and gives you the rank and quality. Because even with a world with a supposed "system" there's no way that an exact digit of attack power exists, or exact value for durability exists. For example, if you took good care of a weapon, it would last longer, but who knows how long. And sure, maybe a weapon has a limited damage number, but you could use a legendary sword to lightly touch someone and instead of hurting them, it would only be a light touch. So I guess this is the last reason I believe that this isn't a dream and the reality is real, so to speak.
Next, I press the Equipment...
Equipment: Combat Hoody-(Black)(equipped)Comfy-Combat-Jeans-(Black)(equipped)NoneNoneNoneNoneNoneNoneNoneNone.
Okay, that's what I expected, and once again, I can equip up to six pieces of equipment. I realized that the flimsy boxers I donned underneath did not count as equipment. That makes sense. Also, due to Inventory's effects it seems that any [equipment] donned will magically fit me. Unlike my boxers which will fit whatever size they are. While this is good, I really wanted to like, wear lots of enchanted rings... wait, that'd look lame...
Anyways... Items.
I currently have...
Items:Fluffflower Pelt(s)x17Hippopondo Meat(s)x15EmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/AEmptyN/A|
V
"...huh?"
(Kris)
there's... an arrow at the bottom? Now, just like any other person would do when given a strange symbol to press on... I press it. Okay, that's not a safe choice, I admit it... but oh well! Curiosity cured the cat! Or... something.
So, I press it. And lo-and-behold! It moved! Holy cow! I can scroll! It just keeps on going down and down!
I check the food, and it's the same thing as items, but I can only have 20 food slots, where if it's the same food, I can store 20 of it. Still, the scrolling thing is cool...
Anyways! Phew! Taking observation! Nothing near... check! Taking Stock! Just did that... check! Next! ESCAPEEEEEEE! Well, there should be some kind of elevator here... cause I feel in here through a trap-door to get here...
Besides, there are no more monsters to fight... I've reached level 10 now... I think that's like, around above average right? But with my skills and stacked stats, I think I should be able last against a level 25! The monster population is so depleted I think I should at at least leave a few so that I can come back to train another time...
So I wander.
...
"finally~..."
(Kris)
after wandering around for who knows how long...
I found a strange white circle slowly revolving around on a stone platform... this is it! The rumored teleportation circles! I saw these in rpg game's churches all the time! There should be a linked circle upstairs or something, finally... I'll get my revenge on that Gramps and Colby!
"Kekekekee..."
(Kris)
I chuckled evilly, imagining my revenge as I stepped into the circle and a blinding white light engulfed me.
-Back up stairs-
"Papa! It seems that Kris has finished training and the teleportation circle that was set to activate once he finished off 80% of the monster population has activate!"
(Violet Hair???)
"Huh? Don't interrupt me! I'm going out to play some slots!"
(Demon Lord)
"Uhhh... master?"
(Colby)
"Yes, stuuuudent?"
(Violet Hair???)
"Okay, from what you taught me the past week... fufufu... shouldn't there be a connected circle somewhere here?"
(Colby)
"..."
"Mr. Demon Lord?"
(Colby)
"Papa?"
(Violet Hair???)
"...I forgot l-o-l."
(Demon Lord)
....
"...sigh.. you're always doing this... so what's going to happen to him now?"
(Violet Hair???)
"I dunno.... anyways... this is all part of the PLAN!!!Dun-DUn-DUNNNN"
(Demon Lord)
"..."
"What? To cliche? Fine. Anyways, this is his first mission. He'll gain experience by travelling back here. Hmmm... Luckily, he should end up as far as the borders between Demons and Humans... but... since I got lazy... theres... a small chance... that he could just end up behind enemy lines."
(Demon Lord)
"..."
Annnnd that's the end of the chapter~ I had a hard time editing the tables since I like editing them manually with code: ya know.. [/table] [tds][trs] blahblahblah.... all that crap. Buuuuut I believe in quality over quantity, so I guess it'll just be slow... See-ya guys (hopefully) next week! (bombs away). Advertisement Previous

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Cast Under Ellitis
Ellitis, a world of sword and magic. Massive in size, with most of its surface unexplored. Where dragons and spirits dwell amongst men and demi-humans, where gods and devils alike barter with mortals and immortals. Beautiful as it might seem, mystical even, Ellitis is not a world for the frail. It is a place where the strong prey upon the weak, and where the weak struggle with every fiber of their being to overthrow the strong. It is here, in an unsuspecting corner of this world, that an unfortunate soul was born an orphan by the mischief of beings untold. Eliot Wyon, formerly known as Eliot Alderman, was just a mediocre engineering student in his past life. Perhaps without any help, this life of his will be just as boring as his last. But throw in an impish ex-goddess to help him along. Maybe, just maybe, he could make this life a bit more interesting. ----------------------------------------**Author's Note**---------------------------------------- Hello Everyone, I am Vi, Cat Vi. This is my first attempt at writing a story. I am a complete beginner at this. The closest thing to an organized story I’ve ever written is essay reports back in high school. There might be syntax errors and weird language all over the place. So, apologies in advance. I’ll be trying my best to make this story as interesting as possible, and with your feedback I am sure I can make something nice out of it. Constructive criticism is appreciated. And you are welcome to comment any errors you might notice. I’ll try to fix them up as soon as I can. For now, I don’t have a schedule. But if the story gets traction, I will try to work something out. **Cover Image Drawn by me.
