《YOLO?》Chapter 12

Day 26
Today our general told the army that if you kill one elf you get a gold coin. But you have to bring proof that you killed them and you could keep whatever you brought as proof. Slaves can earn their freedom if they kill at least 3 elves. The word spread quickly around camp.
'What the fuck? Did that bitch not see how those fuckers killed everyone?'
Elves were a lot faster than the average man and a bit stronger as well. Hell they were better looking also. Even the ugliest elf is considered average looking by our standards but ugly in theirs.
We set up defenses on the hill and waited for the enemy to approach us. Our 4th division is in the front lines today.
'Fuck I'm gonna die.'
Luckily I was towards the back in the ranks because I was a child.
I heard horns blowing on the enemy side and I hear the sound of hooves charging towards us. In a matter of seconds the enemy cavalry push into our ranks and the battle began.
The enemy horsemen were able to push forward past our ranks but luckily none came toward my direction. We stayed in our battle formations and the enemy swordsmen and spearmen engaged us.
They pushed towards us but we fought back stabbing and blocking. I got in a couple of good hits with my spear and saw some of the enemy guys go down. I still felt sick of the feeling of penetrating soft flesh with every thrust of my spear but I don't puke this time.
Suddenly I hear another horn blowing to the left of me. I heard our captain yell to be careful because the elves starting coming in from our sides. I see men getting hit by arrows and falling to the ground with a thud. The elves' movement are graceful, like a stream of flowing water.

They use their knives to quickly cut the throats of my comrades and they use their arrows when they are far away and almost never miss. I see an elf in the air doing some fancy air tricks like somersaulting to dodge some men stabbing at him. I see my chance and throw my spear at the mother fucker.
I hits hims squarely in the chest and he falls. I quickly run over to him to gain my prize. He male elf is on his back with a spear in his chest. I quickly find a knife that was strapped on his back with elvish writing on it and strap it onto myself. I take out my spear and hear a disgusting squelch as I pull it out of him.
Suddenly another elf screams in fury at his fallen comrade and charges at me. He thrusts his sword and I try to block it with my shield but he knocks it away with a swing of his sword and as he is about to stab it at me...
I see someone move in front of me and block it with their shield. I see a familiar back...
"You okay kid?" -Caleb
As he is busy fending off the elf.
I quickly get back to my senses and move behind the elf, and found an opening. I stab him in the back and he falls to his death.
"Good job Regis."-Caleb
I just nod back. This time I take this elf's bow and put it on my back. It was about 3 and a half feet long, and i doubted that i could pull the string back to release an arrow from it. It was intricately and made with a strong sturdy type of wood that i have never seen before I also had strange carvings on it that I could not decipher.

I went back to the fray in search another elf. After about an hour of barely surviving I see another elf surrounded by 3 other men and the elf quickly kills one of the swordsmen with a cut to the throat.
I aim my spear and throw it at the elf who has his back turned away from me, but he turns around in time to see the spear and it grazes past his cheek and leaves a small cut there. I take out the dagger of the man I killed and run towards the elf.
The elf uses a fireball to one of the two man facing him and the poor chap gets his face burned and screams in agony.
The last man standing is barely able to fend off his attacks and I reach them.
I stab out behind him. But the elf seemed to instinctively know there was danger and was able to turn around and quickly parry my blow. His attention was on my now which was his mistake because the man behind him quickly decapitated him.
I nodded to the man in thanks and cut off a braid of hair that was on the elf's head. The man that killed him quickly follows suit.
The sun is setting and the battle ended for the day and everyone headed back to their camps.
I reported back to my captain and showed him my trophies. He looks at me with wide eyes, clearly astonished of my accomplishments. He takes me to the colonel and tells me of my feats.
The colonel acknowledges my effort and sends me off to a mage who can take of this collar of mine.
The captain takes me to the mage and I have my collar taken off.
It was such a great feeling. I had a tan line on my neck. I was now a free man (or child). I can now earn money for myself during the war.
I wondered what I would do after the war was over assuming I survived and I drifted off into sleep.
"You didn't pray to me...."-Arlinus
