《the Otherworld Scientific Researcher》Chapter 20: New Inventions (Part 1)

All this while, after arriving to this unknown world, Raynor feels like he has been using ancient tools. All his equipments has been made in a rush with scrap and raw materials, so their quality is low, and they definitely don’t have the same functions like those he had back on Earth.
But now, with a stable supply of raw materials, and the free time to peacefully work on his new equipments, finally, he completed his first up-to-date device. Raynor is so excited because he can finally move from using ancient tools to using modern tools. He then called Yuria over to reveal his newest invention.
What Yuria saw when Raynor introduced to her his newest invention is a transparent cube device the size of a golf ball, with glowing line patterns all over it, and a ball of glowing liquid substance inside the transparent cube.
[What is that liquid for?] Yuria asked..
[Its my information storage device.]
[A Storage Device? With liquid water? How does it work?]
Yuria was dumbfounded. She only knows that computer parts are made out of electronics and sensitive mechanisms, but never heard of a computer device made out of liquid water. Except for water cooling system.
[Well, we no longer use bits to store our information, but with liquid with certain alterations. It has the same principle of storing DNA information. Humans have developed ways to read a person’s information through their DNA, so they develop ways to store information like a DNA. If I’m not mistaken, during your era, there’s a device that lets someone experienced their ancestor’s life, like playing a virtual simulation game, am I right?]
[ah... actually that’s... err.. ]
[But too bad there’s no information or blueprint about that device left after the war. Only tales of it has been pass down. We can’t even recreate something like that. Truly it must be the work of a genius. ]

[But how fascinating it is that all the memories of our ancestors can be pass down to the next generation only through the size of a single sperm cell. But this is just an artificial DNA, made only to imitate the way DNA stores their information. It is much insignificant compare to the actual one. And it’s also very unstable, a slight shock or exposure to air will damage it. So it must be stored carefully.
But with this important piece of my creation, my work pace, and my scope of inventions can be expanded. I can create more advance devices easily, and successfully research about all the mysteries of this world.]
Raynor has a mad scientist expression when he said that.
.
[Raynor, hate to disappoint you, but this place is not a permanent dwelling place for us. I will leave this place as soon as my job here is done. I have to carry out a mission given to me, and need to travel to many places. If you want to stay here and continue your research, I can ask Erina for a better place to accommodate you, and you get to keep all your machinery stuffs here..]
[Traveling sounds good, I get to obtain a lot of information compared with staying in the city. When are we going? I need some time to prepare first.]
[Eh? You are coming with me? Are you sure? What about all your heavy stuff here?]
[Its fine, they will serve a better purpose for me if I launch them into orbit. But I need quite some time to remodify them. When are you leaving?]
[I think another 2 or 3 months time estimated to complete my job.]
[That’s more than enough time for me. By then I’ll launch all of these stuff into space. But now, they will assist me in some projects first. Can you also supply me with a variety of metals and magic stones for now?]

[Can, I’ll order them from Erina. But you’ll have to let me observe when you launch stuff into space.]
[Can, no problem.]
Throughout their conversation, Naoko is sitting at the side feeling out of place. She can’t understand what are they talking about. The only thing she gets from their conversation is that Yuria will be leaving this Kingdom and travel to many places after she complete her job, and Raynor will be accompanying her, and Raynor is leeching off Yuria for raw materials again.
[Sigh, I also want to travel around desu..] Naoko sigh

Directorate: Nationbuilding in Apocalypse
A nation is just a means of survival. Metro Manila fell within 5 months of the first report of cannibalism. Once a hyperurbanized region of 15 million inhabitants, it's been reduced to a dead, greenless shell. Most of the infected had since left to ravage the countryside. The central government was nowhere to be found. Among the survivors who clung to the few gardens and humble plots of arable land left, one of them finds evidence that the slaughter wasn't going to just end with the first wave. Without a nation and a wall of guns, everyone will die. Directorate is an original nationbuilding webnovel that focuses on the gradual rise to power of a select few individuals, and the subsequent unification of the survivors of a devastated Metro Manila. Releases targeted at every 1 to 3 weeks. If there are no chapter updates after 3 weeks, there will be a progress update. Number of releases targeted at a maximum of 100 chapters. The Roseguard's Odyssey: The tale of the hunted
Ablan is the home of the most skilled warriors in Aelmion, the brotherhood of bounty hunters. But even these ruthless hunters are kept in line by the Council Shadows, ten apex hunters and their guilds who rule Ablan from the top of the floating oasis casino. Luna is a shadow of Ablan. But when it comes to bounties, she and her guild have two strict rules: no killing, and no contracts involving children or animals in any way. When a criminal syndicate came to her to bring in a group of slavers, it was supposed to just end with her being paid her weight in gold. But aside from her reward, what she found in the slaver’s mines was Elizabeth. Unable to leave the seven-year-old alone, she breaks her own rule and agrees to bring the child home. But as they begin the long journey across the continent, Luna finds out that the child is the missing Princess Elizabeth Balder Van Stahlblut II, the heir of the two powerful empires of the Braenarim Republic and the Iron Nation of Aspana. As if protecting a princess is bad enough, it only gets worse. To get home, they need to go through the United Silvus States, a pro-human nation that is hell bent on taking the princess by any means. But not just Silvus is their problem. A race of murderous machines, mage executioners called the Huntsmen, the enigmatic Chimera trading company, other bounty hunters, and even savage monsters in the dark stand in their way. To protect her, all of Luna’s skills and the limits of her morality are put to the test. But will it be enough? Can both of them survive the Tale of the hunted? =0*o*0= Cover portrait created by the very talented tsuki_desenha at Instagram! Look him up for his incredible work!
