Chapter 25|| Accident
"You must never do this technique after exercising nor after a fight."
Sen couldn't understand why, he looked sideways at Lyyla and asked.
"Why not?"
"Because if you do, you'll most likely die."
"Die what are you talking about?"
"Sen, as you know, when someone is hurt and healing magic is used on them there's a bit of pain that comes with it. The bigger the injury the greater the pain will be when they're healed. That's why when someone has a life-threatening injury most of the time healers won't use magic because the greater the injury the greater the pain that person will be in when they're healed and if the pain is too great that person may just go into shock and die."
"What but my father?"
"Your dad?"
"It's just that he was on death's door when Ryyla healed him, but he lived."
"Then your dad is extremely tough, most men would die were they to be healed at deaths door. You're very lucky to of had Ryyla there as well because she is one of thee greatest healers in the world. Maybe only second to the holy continents high priestess."
Sen new Ryyla was great, but every time Lyyla spoke of her capabilities, it seemed to elevate her even higher. It made Sen wonder why the two never talk, it seemed that Lyyla was mostly praising her, just what had happened between the two
"So what does that have to do with using the technique after exercising and fighting?"
"Simple, when you exercise, your body is breaking down muscle. So if you were to try this skill after a workout the pain would be immeasurable. To break down your body even more from that point and then restore it and regrow all that tissue and muscle etc at once. The shock would be excessively devastating. If you didn't die from it, you might just go mad."
Sen couldn't believe such a skill was so risky and painful, but it made sense considering the benefits could give you the ultimate body.
"So Sen if I teach you this skill you must promise me to never use it after exercise or after fighting."
Sen gave a sincere nod.
"I promise ."
"Ok, first watch my movements, then I'll explain."
Lyyla took a step in front of sen and place her feet shoulder width apart. She shut her eyes and slowly started to breath in and out deeply, in through the nose and out through the mouth. She then placed both hands in front of her stomach making a claw shape with both of them, only leaving a small space the size of a fist in between them.
As she continued to breath, slowly but surely a small faint glow the size of a needle started to form between her hands. It swirled a faint blue in her hands and it gradually grew and formed a small ball. As it did the ball started to spin, after a moment the ball got faster and faster. While she continued to breath deeply she then slowly raised the ball of light up to her face and in one big suction of air she inhaled the ball into her nostrils and held her breath.
After a few seconds, she once more breathed out and a faint white fog escaped from her mouth. She then opened her eyes and she was done. Sen didn't know what to think, he hadn't seen a technique like this before, Ryyla had never done something like that, did that mean Lyyla's body was tougher?

"What I did just then was absorb mana from all around me, but first I purified it and condensed it making it several times more potent. Then I inhaled it, letting it circulate throughout my body, allowing it to seep itself into every fiber of my being. Allowing it to destroy little bits and pieces of my cells and then restoring them making them stronger, more flexible and more versatile. Sen, this technique is called "Titans Might" using this your body will have the potential to be as strong as a titan, that is if you can master it ."
Sen wanted to immediately try it out, but he had a concern.
"Lyyla I noticed that you didn't use an element, so this isn't an elemental technique."
"Well yes and no, mana is an element, but it is a part of nearly everything in this world, therefore you cannot simply divide it into light or fire etc. It is literally everything and at the same time nothing, I know it may seem confusing, but with this skill you don't need to have a certain element anyone can use it."
"Huh, then how come everyone doesn't use it if anyone can learn it?"
Lyyla shook her head.
"Anyone can learn it, but the price is an immense pain. I may have looked calm a second ago while I was practicing it, but on the inside it was tearing my body apart piece by piece. You don't get strong overnight, you would have to practice this nearly every day for months and years to see any results. Who can take such intense pain for that period of time? I myself have just barely scratched the surface of it. Sure most arrows and swords can't hurt me, but I've been practicing for nearly 50 years."
"50 years holy crap!! 50 years of pain, that may be only a blink to you Lyyla, but I'm human. At most I'll live for a hundred years and you're asking me to torture myself for half my life, I don't know about this."
Sen now looked disdainfully at this skill, if he were to practice it, it would take him at least 50 yrs to be at Lyylas level. Was it worth it to torture himself for that long?
"Lyyla I don't know about this."
"Wait, it may have taken me 50 years, but I was born with low mana potential that's the main reason why it's taken me so long. However, since your potential is clearly at the high end, if you diligently practice this skill, I could see you reaching my level in this skill in 15 yrs."
"Wait, that doesn't make any sense how can you have low potential, but be as strong as you are ?"
"It's my age, you see the potential test is designed to help show how much your mana could grow in your lifetime, in a human's lifetime. But me I'm not human, I've lived for a very long time and each insight and breakthrough took centuries to achieve. Plus the stronger I grew the longer it took to reach the next level, but after a long long time finally I reached the 10th rank. Same with this skill that I've been learning, each time I make a breakthrough it takes me longer to reach the next one. I probably won't master it for a thousand years, my talent is just too poor, but you, you're a genius. As a matter of fact, I would be shocked if you didn't get there in 15 yrs. So Sen, now that you know the pains and difficulties that come with this skill can you handle it, will you learn it ?"

Sen pondered for a moment, it was true his talent and mana potential was out of this world. If he really did practice it diligently maybe he could get there in 15 years, but the pain would be harsh. Sen made a decision right there, he would practice it once to see if he could handle the pain if he could he would practice it diligently if not then he would seek out other means from Lyyla to strengthen himself.
"I'll give it a shot, what do I have to do exactly?"
"Simple, just like what I showed you before first you have to breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth. Then you must feel the mana all around you and place your hands near your stomach like I was before ."
"Why do the hands need to be near the stomach. Can't I just let them hang or something?"
"No, you must do it the exact way I did it."
"But why ?"
"That's just the way it was taught to me."
Sen couldn't help thinking there was no point in having the hands there and it showed on his face. Lyyla couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed she had learned this skill long ago, but she had never asked her teacher why the hands go there. She herself simply didn't know which made her face turn a little red with embarrassment.
"Anyway the hands go there and that's final."
Sen wanted to laugh, Lyyla had been so serious a second ago, but now she was flushed red. It was simply too easy to push this woman's buttons.
"Ok then what?"
"Ahem, then after you've felt the mana you draw it towards your palms and as it grows and forms into a ball you'll slowly be able to feel the imperfections in it. That's when you will start to spin it. Increasing its speed will shake lose many of the impurities within it and the last part is you inhale it in through your nose."
"Do you have to or can you inhale it through your mouth?"
Once again, Lyyla was stumped, she didn't know for sure herself. Why did she inhale through the nose and not the mouth, she quickly got irritated at Sen, he asks way too many questions that she can't answer.
"You, do you want to learn this or not?"
"Ok ok sorry, please continue."
Lyyla took a deep breath and released it as a sigh.
"After you inhale the mana you need to hold that breath for a few seconds. Afterward, you simply have to relax it will do the rest itself. The pure ball of mana will naturally follow your blood stream and circulate all throughout your body seeping into every cell before tearing you apart and rebuilding you. This part is extremely painful, after a few seconds you will let loose that breath and the last of the impurities that you couldn't get rid of from spinning it will come out.Releasing that breath releases the end of those impurities and that's it, you repeat this step a few times a day ."
"But why does it destroy and then rebuild
"That's just mana"s nature, it is chaotic yet calm, dark yet bright, it destroys and it rebuilds."
"Why not practice it more times a day ?"
Lyyla held her head high after hearing Sens question she finally knew the answer to this one.
"Easy, the reason you only do it a few times is because the pain is so great that any more than a few tries a day could send you into shock and possibly kill you."
"Well, that doesn't sound too bad."
Lyyla couldn't tell that Sen was being sarcastic and so she shot him a cold glance.
"This isn't a game one wrong move and the pain can kill you, so now it's your turn to give it a try, concentrate."
Sen took the same stance as Lyyla.
"Ok, here I go."
He then repeated her steps, but when he got to the point where he was forming the ball Lyyla suddenly shouted out causing Sen to open his eyes in shock.
"Stop stop you'll die!!"
As Sen opened his eyes, he noticed the ball in his hands, what was strange wasn't the shape of it, but the size. It was nearly as big as a head, Lyylas had only been the size of a fist, Sen couldn't help but panic a little.
"What do I do with it?"
As he said that the ball continued to grow and got brighter and brighter.
"Dissipate it hurry up kid."
Sen tried, but no matter how hard he tried to dissipate it nothing was working, and the ball just kept getting brighter.
"I can't, it won't stop, it's not stopping."
As it continued to grow, now it was the size of Sens upper torso. It began to start flashing faster and faster it was about to blow.
"Shit, stand still."
As Lyyla said that she jumped in front of Sen with her back against his stomach, she was in-between Sen and his arms, she quickly enveloped the huge ball in a torrent of wind and then.
*KABOOM*
The ball exploded launching the two into the side of the stone wall. Sen hitting it first with Lyyla crashing into him, several of his ribs broke and even his left lung collapsed. He quickly vomited up a mouthful of blood and as he did the ocean of pain hit him wave after wave of intense burning pain.
It was so bad he had major difficulty just breathing. Lyyla's face was completely pale, but she seemed fine. She was saying something to Sen, but all Sen could hear was ringing in his ears. That though wasn't even the worst part, he tried to lift up his arm, but he couldn't even feel either one of them at all.
He looked down and to his horror from the elbow down on his right arm bones blood and flesh were completely exposed. He quickly glanced at his other arm and it was gone, he looked around the room and his arm was literally just gone. The explosion had disintegrated his entire left arm from the shoulder down.
After a few seconds his hearing returned he could hear Lyyla shouting, but his mind was muddled and fuzzy so he couldn't quite make out what she was saying. A few more seconds later and his consciousness left him and for a split second he thought he heard a deep voice.
"Hehehe interesting"
As his mind went blank he saw the confines of his mind and in the distance was that dark howling abyss. As Sen glanced into it for the first time something was different, not only was there that soul tearing pain as usual, but in the depths of that blackness there was a faint red glow. Before he could make out what it was he quickly awakens in a dark room on a bed.
His entire body is drenched in a cold sweat while he's panting and breathing heavily. He quickly looks at his arms and miraculously there both there. He squeezes them into a fist a few times to make sure that there actually working. He doesn't understand the situation at all he could have sworn he almost died.
"Was that explosion just a dream?"
He pulls his knees into his chest and wraps his arms around them holding himself tightly and as he does he notices that on his arms the shirt he was wearing is in tatters. He immediately realizes it wasn't a dream and he can't help but shiver, even when facing that horde of zombies he didn't feel any fear, but this skill had nearly brought him to his death and it was by his own doing.
He made a promise to himself right there and then, he vowed that no matter what he would never use that technique again. This etched a trauma into the depths of Sen's heart because at the end of the day he may be strong and he may even be considered a genius, but he was still a 10-year-old boy.
After a while, Sen finally relaxed himself and decided to illuminate the room a little since it was so dark. He wondered why someone didn't at least leave a candle for him at night. He made his way over to the window to see if he could tell where he was at. He then tore open the drapes and to his surprise it was bright as day outside, but of course it was since it really was day time.
Sen couldn't help but think he had slept for a whole day. He looked outside to see a small garden that was covered in blue and yellow flowers. As well as two big trees hanging over a small white bench. it was like a scene straight from an artist mind. It was really quite beautiful and as he looked out lost in thought he soon heard loud footsteps coming towards his room.
Sen turned and headed to the door to see who it was, but before he got to the door it burst open and their lyyla was staring at Sen teary eyed. Sen put on a small smile and said.
"Hehe, it seems I'm awake sorry for the tr...."
But before he could finish talking Lyyla had tackled him, forcing him down onto the bed with her on top. hugging and squeezing him hard she cried out .
"Sen are you ok are you ok does it hurt anywhere where does it hurt?"
Sen was a little-taken aback by Lyylas behavior, but he soon settled down, he figured she must have blamed herself for teaching him such a dangerous technique. Sen couldn't help but treat her like a child and he slowly stroked her head.
"It's ok, I'm fine, thank you, you saved my life and even healed me, thank you Lyyla."
At that moment, Lyyla stopped crying and released Sen from her embrace, she quickly put on a sour face and sat up, she shouted out.
"Lyyla!! I'm not that ugly wench, it's me."
Sen paused for a moment, trying to wrap his head around the thought and then he shouted back.
"RYYLA!!"

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.
